Jeremiah 6
1 Benjamin canaw na hlout nahanelah Jerusalem khothung hoi yawng awh leih. Tekoa vah mongka ueng awh, Bethhakkerem vah thaisaknae hmai hah paang awh. Bangkongtetpawiteh, rucatnae kalen poung rawknae teh atunglah hoi a tho toe.
Flee for safety, ye children of Benjamin, out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a signal in Beth-haccerem; for evil appeareth out of the north, and a great destruction.
2 Zion canu meikahawi kanaw e hah, ka raphoe han toe.
The comely and delicate one do I cut off, the daughter of Zion.
3 Tukhoumnaw ni a tuhunaw hoi ahni koe pha awh han, petkâkalup lah lukkareirimnaw a sak awh vaiteh, amamae tuhunaw rip a khoum awh han.
Shepherds with their flocks shall come unto her; they shall pitch [their] tents against her round about; they shall feed every one in his place.
4 Ahnimanaw tuk hanlah kârakueng awh leih, thaw awh leih, kanîthun vah tuk awh sei, maimouh han a ru poung bangkongtetpawiteh, kanîthun a hloi teh tangmin kho a hmo toe.
Prepare war against her. Arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe unto us! for the day hath declined, for the shadows of the evening are lengthening.
5 Thaw awh leih, karum vah tuk awh sei, a im kahawi kahawi naw hah raphoe awh sei.
Arise, and let us go up by night, and let us destroy her palaces.
6 Rasahu BAWIPA ni hettelah a dei, thingnaw tâtueng awh nateh, Jerusalem bout tuk nahanelah, luennae hah sak awh. Hote khopui heh rek hanelah ao. Hatei khopui thung vah kâyue kâounnae seng doeh akawi toe.
For thus hath Jehovah of hosts said: Hew ye down trees, and cast a mound against Jerusalem. She is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her.
7 Tuikhu ni tui a tâco sak e patetlah ahnimouh ni kathoute a tâcokhai van. Athung vah kâounnae hoi rawknae niyah akawi, ka hmalah lungmathoenae hoi patawnae pout laipalah ao.
As a well poureth forth her waters, so she poureth forth her wickedness: violence and destruction are heard in her; before me continually are grief and wounds.
8 Oe Jerusalem kâhruetcuet, telah nahoeh pawiteh, ka hringnae ni hnamthun takhai vaiteh, athung vah kingdi ram lah ka coung sak han.
Be thou instructed, Jerusalem, lest my soul be alienated from thee; lest I make thee a desolation, a land not inhabited.
9 Rasahu BAWIPA ni hettelah a dei, misur paw kacawirae khi e patetlah ahnimouh ni Isarelnaw kacawirae hah abuemlah he a khi awh han. Misur paw kakhikung ni a khi e patetlah na kut hah tangthung dawk bout tapu ei.
Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: They shall thoroughly glean like a vine the remnant of Israel: turn back thy hand, as a grape-gatherer unto the baskets.
10 Api koe maw lawk ka dei pouh vaiteh, kâhruetcuetnae ka poe han. A hnânaw a tabuem awh dawkvah, thai thai awh hoeh. BAWIPA e lawk hah ahnimouh hane dudam e lah ao teh, thaingainae roeroe tawn awh hoeh.
To whom shall I speak and testify, that they may hear? Behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of Jehovah is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.
11 Hatdawkvah, BAWIPA e lungkhueknae hoi ka kawi teh ka khang thai hoeh toe. Lam dawk kaawm e camonaw hoi a kamkhueng e nawsainaw koe ka kamnue sak, yuvâ roi ni hot teh a khang han, matawng kum kacuenaw ni hai a khang awh han.
And I am full of the fury of Jehovah, I am weary with holding in. Pour it out upon the children in the street, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken; the aged with him [that is] full of days.
12 A imlawnaw hoi a yunaw hai ayânaw koe koung ka poe han, ram thung vah kaawmnaw lathueng kai ni kut ka tha han toe, telah BAWIPA ni a dei.
And their houses shall be turned unto others, [their] fields and wives together; for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith Jehovah.
13 Kathoengca koehoi kalenpoung koe totouh, tami pueng ni a hounloun awh, profetnaw hoi vaihmanaw hai la awh hoeh, laithoe dei hoi a kâroe awh.
For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them, every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest, every one dealeth falsely.
14 Ka taminaw e a hmâ lah ahawi han doeh, ahawi han doeh ati awh teh, phouhoucalah a khet awh, hawi katang hoeh.
And they have healed the breach of the daughter of my people lightly, saying, Peace, peace! when there is no peace.
15 Panuet ka tho e hno a sak awh navah a kaya awh maw. Kayak awh hoeh. Kayak roeroe awh hoeh. Minhmai kangna hai paling awh hoeh. Hatdawkvah, karawmnaw koe rawp awh van han, kai ni ahnimanaw ka rek toteh, ahnimanaw teh rahim lah a bo awh han telah BAWIPA ni ati.
Are they ashamed that they have committed abomination? Nay, they are not at all ashamed, neither know they what it is to blush. Therefore they shall fall among them that fall; at the time that I visit them they shall stumble, saith Jehovah.
16 BAWIPA ni hettelah a dei, lam dawk kangdout nateh, khenhaw! ayan e lamruem hah pacei nateh, lam kahawi namaw ao telah pacei awh nateh, hote lam dawk dawn awh, telah pawiteh na muitha hanlah kâhatnae na hmu awh han. Hatei, nangmouh ni hote lam dawk ka cet awh mahoeh na ti awh.
Thus saith Jehovah: Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the ancient paths, which is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk [therein].
17 Kai ni nangmouh hanelah karingkung tami ka hmoun, mongka lawk thai awh! na ti pouh awh. Hatei, nangmouh ni, ka thai awh mahoeh na ti awh.
Also I have set watchmen over you: — Hearken ye to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.
18 Hatdawkvah, miphunnaw thai awh haw, taminaw voi, ahnimanaw e lathueng ka phat hane hah pâkuem van awh.
Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O assembly, what is among them.
19 Oe talai, thai haw! hete taminaw lathueng vah, ronae ka pha sak han toe, amamouh ni a pouknae a paw letlang ni bangkongmaw kaie lawk hoi kâlawk a pahnawt awh.
Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, the fruit of their thoughts; for they have not hearkened unto my words, and as to my law, they have rejected it.
20 Sheba e hmuitui hoi kho hlanae koehoi e kacingtui ka radip e kai ni bangmaw ka ti nahan. Nangmae hmaisawi thuengnae ka dâw mahoeh, sathei thuengnae ni ka lunghawi sak mahoeh.
To what purpose should there come to me incense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? Your burnt-offerings are not acceptable, nor are your sacrifices pleasing unto me.
21 Hatdawkvah, BAWIPA ni hettelah a dei, hete taminaw hmalah tâlaw nahan ka ta pouh han. A napanaw hoi a canaw ni a tâlaw awh han, imri hoi huikonaw rei a rawk awh han, ati.
Therefore thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will lay stumbling-blocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall over them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish.
22 BAWIPA ni hettelah a dei, khenhaw! atunglae ram koehoi ransanaw a tho toe, talai poutnae koehoi miphun kalenpoung kamthaw toe.
Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, a people cometh from the north country, and a great nation is stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth.
23 Pala hoi tahroe patuep awh teh, tamikathout, pahrennae roeroe ka tawn hoeh naw lah ao. A pawlawk teh tuipui pawlawk patetlah ao teh, marang dawk a kâcui awh teh, tamipueng senehmaica a kâmahrawk awh teh, Oe! Zion canu, nang tuk hanlah a tho awh toe, ati.
They lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no mercy; their voice roareth like the sea; and they ride upon horses, set in array as a man for the battle, against thee, daughter of Zion.
24 Ahnimae kamthang ka thai awh navah, ka kut tha pouk a bo. Runae teh manu ni ca khe patawnae a khang e patetlah khik na moum toe.
We have heard the report thereof: our hands are grown feeble; anguish hath taken hold of us, pain as of a woman that travaileth.
25 Kahrawng tâcawt awh hanh, lam dawk hai cet awh hanh awh, tarannaw koe tahloi ao, avoivang taki a tho.
Go not forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for [there is] the sword of the enemy, terror is on every side.
26 Oe! Ka tami canunaw voi, buri kâkhu awh nateh, vaiphu dawk kamawp awh nateh, capa buet touh dueng kadout e ka khai e patetlah kap awh. Bangkongtetpawiteh, vaitalahoi karaphoekung teh maimae lathueng a pha han toe.
Daughter of my people, gird thee with sackcloth, and roll thyself in ashes: make mourning, [as] for an only son — bitter lamentation; for the spoiler cometh suddenly upon us.
27 Ka taminaw katanoukkung hoi pakhingpalang hanelah na sak, telah pawiteh doeh ahnimae nuencang hah na pathoup thai awh tih.
I have set thee among my people as an assayer, a fortress, that thou mayest know and try their way.
28 Ahnimouh teh a lungpata awh ni teh tarankathaw e, tamthoe kadeinaw doeh, rahum hoi sum patetlah ao awh teh, abuemlahoi kahawihoehe dueng katâcawtkhaikung lah ao awh.
They are all the most rebellious of rebels, going about with slander: they are bronze and iron; they are all corrupters.
29 Konlawk hai hmai dawk a kahma toe, hmaipho hai a tum toe. Tamikathoutnaw teh kangcing awh roeroe hoeh rah.
The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed by the fire; they have melted, and melted in vain; and the bad are not plucked away.
30 Hotnaw teh BAWIPA ni a pahnawt toung dawkvah, ayânaw ni nguneinaw telah ati pouh awh han, telah ati.
Reprobate silver shall they call them, for Jehovah hath rejected them.
