Jeremiah 5
1 Jerusalem khothung vah yawng nateh, thongma hoi khen nateh panuek awh. Thongma tanghling hah khen awh nateh, tami buet touh banghai lawkkatang ka tawng e lawkcengkung na hmawt awh pawiteh Jerusalem teh ka ngaithoum han.
RUN ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it.

And though they say, The Lord liveth; surely they swear falsely.

O Lord, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.
4 Hatdawkvah, kai ni, hetnaw heh tami karoedengnaw doeh, ahnimouh teh a pathu awh, bangkongtetpawiteh, BAWIPA e lam hoi amamae Cathut lawkcengnae hah panuek awh hoeh.
Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the Lord, nor the judgment of their God.
5 Tami kalentoenaw koe ka cei vaiteh, ahnimouh koe lawk ka dei han. bangkongtetpawiteh, ahnimouh ni, BAWIPA e lam hoi amamae Cathut lawkcengnae han a panue awh, telah ka ti. Hateiteh, hetnaw ni, lungthin suetalah kahnam hah a khoe awh teh, kateknae rui a rathap awh.
I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the Lord, and the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.
6 Hatdawkvah, ratu thung e sendek ni ahnimouh teh a kei awh han. Asui ni a raphoe awh han. Takai ni khopui pawm vaiteh, ka tâcawt e pueng vekrasen lah a phi han. Bangkongtetpawiteh, lawkeknae hah apap teh, hnuklah kamlangnae apap poung.
Wherefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, and a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their cities: every one that goeth out thence shall be torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings are increased.
7 Hete hno dawk, bangtelamaw na ngaithoum thai han. Na canaw ni na ceitakhai awh teh, Cathut lah kaawmhoehnaw koe lah thoe a kâbo awh. Kaboumcalah ka kawkhik torei teh, a uicuk awh teh, tak kâyawt e im vah, a kamkhueng awh te, a yon awh.
How shall I pardon thee for this? thy children have forsaken me, and sworn by them that are no gods: when I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery, and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots’ houses.
8 King kaboumlah rawca ka cat e marang patetlah ao awh, tami pueng ni amamae imri e a yunaw hah a nôe awh teh a cairing sin awh.
They were as fed horses in the morning: every one neighed after his neighbour’s wife.
9 Hete hnonaw kecu dawkvah, ka rek mahoeh namaw telah BAWIPA ni ati, hot patet e miphun lathueng vah, ka pathung mahoeh namaw.
Shall I not visit for these things? saith the Lord: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
10 A rapan dawkvah, kâen nateh, koung raphoe awh. Hateiteh, abuemlah teh raphoe hanh awh, a cakang hah lat awh. Bangkongtetpawiteh, BAWIPA e nahoeh.
Go ye up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end: take away her battlements; for they are not the Lord’s.
11 Bangkongtetpawiteh, Isarel imthung naw hoi Judah imthung ni ka lathueng vah, huenghai hawi a sak awh, telah BAWIPA ni a dei.
For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith the Lord.
12 BAWIPA teh laikathout e lah a pouk awh teh, ahni ni banghai tet katang mahoeh, rucatnae hai maimouh lathueng phat sak katang mahoeh, tahloi hoi takang hai kâhmo katang mahoeh.
They have belied the Lord, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine:
13 Profetnaw teh kahlî doeh, ahnimouh dawk lawkkatang awm hoeh, hatdawkvah ahnimae a lawk teh amamouh hanelah awm yawkaw seh, ati awh.
And the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them.
14 Hatdawkvah kalvan ransabawi ni hettelah a dei, ahnimanaw ni hete lawk a dei tangcoung dawkvah, kai ni ka lawknaw heh na pahni dawk hmai lah ka o sak vaiteh he e taminaw heh thing lah kacoungsak vaiteh hmai ni koung a kak awh han.
Wherefore thus saith the Lord God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.
15 Oe Isarel imthungkhunaw, nangmanaw ka tuk hanelah kho hlanae koehoi miphun thasai ka kaw han, ayan hoi kaawm boi e tha kaawm poung, nangmouh ni a lawk na thai panuek awh hoeh e taminaw ka kaw han, telah BAWIPA ni a ti.
Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, saith the Lord: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest what they say.
16 Ahnimae palanaw teh sut kamawng e phuen lah ao teh abuemlahoi thakasai pong e lah ao awh.
Their quiver is as an open sepulchre, they are all mighty men.
17 Ahnimouh ni na tangcoung e cang hai na ca han e rawca pueng haiyah koung a ca vaiteh, na capanaw hoi na canunaw ni a ca awh hane hai koung a ca awh han. Na maitonaw hoi na tunaw hai a ca han, na misurkung hoi thaibunglungnaw hai a ca han, rapan ka tawn e khonaw hai telah hoi koung a raphoe awh han.
And they shall eat up thine harvest, and thy bread, which thy sons and thy daughters should eat: they shall eat up thy flocks and thine herds: they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig trees: they shall impoverish thy fenced cities, wherein thou trustedst, with the sword.
18 Hahoi teh hatnae hnin nah kai ni koung na pathup awh mahoeh, telah BAWIPA ni a ti.
Nevertheless in those days, saith the Lord, I will not make a full end with you.
19 Taminaw ni, bangkongmaw maimouh BAWIPA Cathut ni hettelah maimouh van hno a sak vai. Telah na pacei awh vah, nangmouh ni ahnimouh koe, “nangmouh ni kai na hnoun awh teh ramlouk cathut thaw hah na ram thung na sak van awh e patetlah, atu na ramdawk e laipalah ram alouke thaw teh na tawk a han toe teh poeh, telah BAWIPA ni a pâpho.
And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the Lord our God all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.
20 Hete lawk heh Jakop imthungkhu koe dei poeh, Judah ram thung vah pâpho awh.
Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,

Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not:
22 Na taket awh hoeh maw. Telah BAWIPA ni a dei. Ka hmalah na pâyaw awh mahoeh maw. Kai ni tuipui teng vah langri hanlah sadi ka sak, tapoung thai hoeh nahan yungyoe sak hanelah ao. Tuipui tuicapa ka tho nakunghai, tapoung thai mahoeh.
Fear ye not me? saith the Lord: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?
23 Hatei ka taminaw ni a lungpata awh teh taranthawnae lungthin a tawn awh; tarantuk hanlah a yawng awh.
But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone.
24 Amamouh roeroe ni a lungthin hoi hai, “a tue nah hmaloe kho hoi hnuk ten kho ka rak sakkung, canga tue nah ka kesakkung, BAWIPA maimae Cathut heh takhet awh haw sei”, tet awh hoeh.
Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the Lord our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.
25 Namamae na sak payonnae ni hetnaw pueng heh a kahma sak teh, na yonnae naw pueng koung a ngang.
Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.
26 Ka taminaw rahak vah tamikathoutnaw ao teh tangkam kapatûngnaw ni tava a pawp awh e patetlah a pawp awh teh tangkam heh a patung pouh awh.
For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men.
27 Tapawm dawk tava a kawi e patetlah, a im dawk dumnae hai akawi, a bawi awh teh hnopai moikapap tawn awh.
As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich.
28 Athaw awh teh minhmai a kâpi awh. Tamikathoutnaw ni sak e ka tapuetlah thoenae a sak awh, hno kathout saknae ni, na pa katawnhoehnaw koe laidei awh hoeh, roedengnaw ni hmu han kawi koelah kangdoutkhai awh hoeh.
They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.
29 Hete hnonaw dawkvah sak laipalah ka o han namaw telah BAWIPA ni a dei. Het patetlae miphunnaw lathueng moipathung laipalah ka o han namaw.
Shall I not visit for these things? saith the Lord: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
30 Kângairu hnonaw, hoi takikathopoung hno teh ram thungvah a sak awh.
A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;
31 Profetnaw ni laithoe a dei awh teh, vaihmanaw ni amamae kâ lahoi a uk awh. Het patetlae naw hah ka taminaw ni a lungpataw awh. Hatei a poutnae koe lah teh bangmaw na sak awh han.
The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?
