< Jeremiah 10 >
1 Oe Isarel imthungkhunaw, BAWIPA ni nang koe a dei e thai haw.
Hear ye the word which Yhwh speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:
2 BAWIPA ni hettelah a dei, Jentelnaw e nuencang out hanh awh, kalvan hoi mitnoutnae kaawm nakunghai taket awh hanh. Jentelnaw teh hot patet lae hah a taki awh.
Thus saith Yhwh, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
3 Taminaw e a phunglam teh ayawmyin doeh, tami buet touh ni ratu thing a tâtueng teh, kutsakkathoum ni a sak teh,
For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
4 sui ngun hoi a pathoup awh teh, a kâhuet hoeh nahanelah, sum hoi cakkin hoi king a tâhet awh.
They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
5 Samtuekung patetlah a kangdue teh, lawk dei thai hoeh, cet hai cet thai hoeh, hrawm lah hrawm a ngai. Hotnaw hah taket awh hanh, rucatnae banghai na poe thai hoeh, hawinae hai banghai sak thai hoeh.
They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
6 Oe BAWIPA, nang patetlah e apihai awm hoeh. Nang teh na len tangak, na min hai thaonae hoi a lentoe tangak.
Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O Yhwh; thou art great, and thy name is great in might.
7 Nang teh, bari laipalah apimaw kaawm han. Oe miphun pueng e siangpahrang, hetheh nang na kamcunae roeroe doeh. Miphunnaw thung hoi thoseh, lungkaang pueng thung hoi thoseh, ahnimae ram thung pueng dawk hoi thoseh, nang patetlae api buet touh hai awm hoeh.
Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee.
8 Ahnimouh teh abuemlahoi panuenae awm hoeh a pathu awh. Hottelah ayawmyin lah kaawm e thingmeikaphawk koehoi a cang awh.
But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities.
9 Ngun dêi e hah Tarshish hoi a sin awh teh, sui hah Uphaz hoi a sin awh. Kutsakkathoumnaw ni sak e, suihlunkathoumnaw ni dêi e, khohnanaw dawkvah, âthi hoi paling e kutsakkathoumnaw ni a sak e seng doeh.
Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men.
10 Hote BAWIPA teh Cathut katang doeh, ahni teh kahring Cathut yungyoe siangpahrang lah ao. A lungkhuek nah talai a kâhuet teh, miphun pueng ni a lungkhueknae khang thai awh hoeh.
But Yhwh is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.
11 Hetheh dei pouh awh, kalvan hoi talai ka sak hoeh e, cathutnaw heh, talai van hoi kalvan rahim hoi bat a kahma awh han, telah ati.
Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens.
12 Hatei, Cathut ni thaonae hoi talai heh a sak, a thoum lungangnae hoi talaivan heh a caksak teh a panuenae hoi kalvan hah a sak.
He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion.
13 Khoparit lawk a tho nah, kalvan e tuinaw hah pawlawk a cai, talai poutnae koehoi tâmai a tâco sak. Sumpapalik teh kho a rak sak teh hnoim thung dawk hoi kahlî a tho sak.
When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.
14 Tami pueng ni bang a panue awh hoeh dawk panuenae tawn awh hoeh, suihlunkathoumnaw ni hai a dei awh e hah a kayakhai. Ahnimouh ni a thuk awh e meikaphawk hah teh, ayawmyin pui doeh, kâha hai tawn awh hoeh.
Every man is brutish in his knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.
15 Aphu awm hoeh, dumyennae thaw lah doeh ao, rek lah ao awh toteh, he a kahma awh han.
They are vanity, and the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.
16 Jakop ni a pang hanelah hetnaw patetlah awm awh mahoeh, bangkongtetpawiteh, ahni teh bangpueng kasakkung lah ao, Isarel heh râw lah ao teh, a min teh ransahu BAWIPA doeh.
The portion of Jacob is not like them: for he is the former of all things; and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: Yhwh of Armies is his name.
17 Nangmouh rapan thung kaawmnaw uknaeram dawk kaawm e na hnonaw hah pâkhueng leih.
Gather up thy wares out of the land, O inhabitant of the fortress.
18 Bangkongtetpawiteh, BAWIPA ni hettelah a dei, atuvah, hete ram thung vah kaawm taminaw hah kai ni ka tâkhawng han, ahnimouh van vah kângairunae ka pha sak han.
For thus saith Yhwh, Behold, I will sling out the inhabitants of the land at this once, and will distress them, that they may find it so.
19 Ka patawnae dawk yawthoe lah ka o. Hmâ ka ca e heh a patawpoung oe! Hatei, hetheh reknae doeh ka khang hanlah ao, ka ti rah.
Woe is me for my hurt! my wound is grievous: but I said, Truly this is a grief, and I must bear it.
20 Kaie rim teh a rawk teh, kaie ruinaw pueng koung a thouk toe. Ka capanaw hai kai koe hoi koung a cei awh teh, buet touh hai awm awh hoeh toe, kaie rim ka sak hane awm hoeh toe, ka o nahan ka sak hane hai awm hoeh.
My tabernacle is spoiled, and all my cords are broken: my children are gone forth of me, and they are not: there is none to stretch forth my tent any more, and to set up my curtains.
21 Tukhoumnaw hai bang panuek awh hoeh, BAWIPA koe pacei e hah panuek awh hoeh, hatdawkvah, a hmacawn awh hoeh, a tuhunaw koung a kâkayei awh han.
For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought Yhwh: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered.
22 Khenhaw! atunglae ram koehoi runae kalenpui Judah khopuinaw kingdi sak vaiteh, kahrawnguinaw onae lah o sak nahane pawlawk a kamthang.
Behold, the noise of the bruit is come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, and a den of dragons.
23 Aw, BAWIPA tami hringnae heh amae nahoeh, tie ka panue, tami ni a khok takannae lam hai amae nahoeh.
O Yhwh, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
24 BAWIPA, kai heh na lungkhuek laihoi laipalah, lannae hoi na pathoup haw telah nahoeh pawiteh, na kahmat sak langvaih.
O Yhwh, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.
25 Nang kapanuekhoehnaw hoi na min ka kaw hoeh e Jentel miphunnaw van vah, na lungkhueknae hah awi haw. Bangkongtetpawiteh, ahnimouh ni Jakop hah he a ca awh. A khosaknae ram haiyah kingdi han.
Pour out thy fury upon the heathen that know thee not, and upon the families that call not on thy name: for they have eaten up Jacob, and devoured him, and consumed him, and have made his habitation desolate.
