< Isaiah 28 >
1 Ephraim yamuhrinaw e kâoupnae bawilakhung hai thoseh, misur meng kaparuinaw e talai kahawi monsom hoi kamyai thai e amamae lentoenae a pei hai thoseh, yawthoe lah ao.
Woe to the crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fertile valley of those who are overcome with wine.
2 Khenhaw! Bawipa koe athakaawme teh, roun, cakho patetlah thoseh, athakaawme tûili patetlah thoseh, amae kut hoi talai totouh a tâkhawng han.
Look, YHWH has a mighty and strong one. Like a storm of hail, a destroying storm, and like a storm of mighty waters overflowing, he will cast them down to the earth with his hand.
3 Ephraim yamuhrinaw e kâoupnae bawilakhung teh kho rahim reprep coungroe lah ao han.
The crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim will be trodden under foot.
4 Talai kahawi e monsom hoi kamyai thai e amamae lentoenae a pei teh kompawi hoehnahlan hmaloe kahmin e a paw patetlah ao han. Hote a paw ka hmawt e tami teh, amae kut dawk a pha tahma he tang a ca han.
The fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fertile valley, shall be like the first-ripe fig before the summer; which someone picks and eats as soon as he sees it.
In that day, YHWH of hosts will become a crown of glory, and a diadem of beauty, to the residue of his people;
6 Lawkcengnae koe katahungnaw hanelah, lannae muitha lah ao vaiteh, tarannaw e longkha koehoi kabannaw hanelah, thaonae lah ao han.
and a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, and strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.
7 Ahnimouh teh misur yamu kecu dawk rawrawcawt awh vaiteh, yamu kecu dawk a kamrit awh han. Vaihma hoi profetnaw teh rawrawcawt awh vaiteh, misur hoi hmoungti awh toe. Yamu kecu a kamrit awh toe. Vision hmunae koe a kamrit awh teh, lawkcengnae koe paletpalut lah ao awh.
They also reel with wine, and stagger with strong drink. The priest and the prophet reel with strong drink. They are swallowed up by wine. They stagger with strong drink. They err in vision. They stumble in judgment.
8 Ahnimae canei pawi pueng teh, hmuen houng laipalah palo hoi a kawi.
For all tables are completely full of filthy vomit and filthiness.
Whom will he teach knowledge? To whom will he explain the message? Those who are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts?
10 Bangkongtetpawiteh, kâlawk van kâlawk, kâlawk van kâlawk, langri van langri, langri van langri, hitueng youn touh haw tueng youn touh lah bo ao vaw.
For it is precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little.
But he will speak to this nation with stammering lips and a strange language;
12 Lawk a dei hane teh, het hateh, kâhatnae doeh. Ka tâwn e naw kâhat naseh, duem kâhat naseh, telah ahnimouh koe a dei pouh ei, ahnimouh ni thai ngai awh hoeh.
to whom he said, "This is the resting place. Give rest to weary;" and "This is the refreshing;" but they would not listen.
13 Hatdawkvah, ahnimouh teh a cei awh teh, hnuklah a rawp awh teh, a rawkphai awh teh, tangkam dawk a kâman awh teh, man lah ao awh nahan, BAWIPA e kâlawk teh ahnimae van vah, kâlawk van kâlawk, kâlawk van kâlawk, langri van langri, langri van langri, hitueng youn touh haw tueng youn touh lah ao han.
Therefore the word of YHWH will be to them precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little; that they may go, fall backward, be broken, be snared, and be taken.
14 Hatdawkvah, Jerusalem kho vah, hete miphunnaw ka uk niteh, ka dudam e naw, BAWIPA e a lawk teh thai awh haw.
Therefore hear the word of YHWH, you scoffers, that rule this people in Jerusalem:
15 Bangkongtetpawiteh, nangmouh ni, kaimouh teh duenae hoi lawkkam ka sak awh toe. Phuen hoi lawkkâcat awh toe. Lacik kathout a tho toteh, kaimouh koe tho mahoeh. Bangkongtetpawiteh, Laithoe hah kâuepnae lah ao teh, dumyennae dawk kâhro awh toe, telah na dei awh. (Sheol )
"Because you have said, 'We have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol are we in agreement. When the overflowing scourge passes through, it won't come to us; for we have made lies our refuge, and we have hidden ourselves under falsehood.'" (Sheol )
16 Hatdawkvah, Bawipa Jehovah ni, khenhaw! talung, tanouknae talung, ka talue e a takinlung hah im du lah Zion mon dawkvah ka hruek toe. Ka yuem e tami teh kalue tâsuenae awm mahoeh.
Therefore thus says YHWH, "Look, I am laying in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation, and the one who believes in him will not be put to shame.
I will make justice the measuring line, and righteousness the plumb line. The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters will overflow the hiding place.
18 Duenae hoi lawkkam na sak e teh a rawk han. Phuen hoi lawkkam na sak e hai kangcoung mahoeh. Runae a pha toteh, nangmouh hah reprep na coungroe awh han. (Sheol )
Your covenant with death shall be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol shall not stand. When the overflowing scourge passes through, then you will be trampled down by it. (Sheol )
As often as it passes through, it will seize you; for morning by morning it will pass through, by day and by night; and it will be nothing but terror to understand the message."
20 Bangkongtetpawiteh, ikhun teh ma cawng hoeh hane totouh a duem, hni hai kâkhu thai hoeh hanlah a thoung.
For the bed is too short to stretch out on, and the blanket is too narrow to wrap oneself in.
For YHWH will rise up as on Mount Perazim. He will be angry as in the Valley of Gibeon; that he may do his work, his unusual work, and bring to pass his act, his extraordinary act.
22 Atuvah nangmouh teh, dudamnae sak awh hanh. Hoehpawiteh, puenghoi yuenae na khang awh han. Bangkongtetpawiteh, ram pueng dawk rawknae hoi lawkcengnae hah ransahu Bawipa Jehovah koehoi thai awh toe.
And as for you, do not be scoffers, lest your bonds be made strong; for I have heard a decree of destruction from YHWH of hosts, on the whole earth.
Give ear, and hear my voice. Listen, and hear my speech.
24 Cati patue nahanelah laikawk ka tawk e ni kanîruirui talai a thawn maw. Talai hah patuenpatuen a pâpawn teh a thawn maw.
Does he who plows to sow plow continually? Does he keep turning the soil and breaking the clods?
25 A palat toteh, catun hoi catun hah patue laipalah ouk ao maw. Catun hah aruirui lah a patue teh, catun hah a kawkkawk lah patue laipalah ouk ao maw.
When he has leveled its surface, doesn't he plant the dill, and scatter the cumin seed, and put in the wheat in rows, the barley in the appointed place, and emmer as its borders?
26 Bangkongtetpawiteh, ahni hah a cangkhai toe. A Cathut ni ahni hai a cangkhai toe.
For his God instructs him in right judgment, and teaches him.
27 Catun hah palatnae thingphek hoi kanawk hoeh. Catun hai lengkhok hoi palet sin hoeh. Catun hoi catun hah bongpai hoi doeh ouk hem.
For the dill are not threshed with a sharp instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned over the cumin; but the dill is beaten out with a stick, and the cumin with a rod.
28 Vaiyei lah sak hane catun hah ouk tip sak awh. Hatei, pou kanek hoeh. Rangleng hah marang hoi a sawn sak eiteh, tip sak e nahoeh.
Bread flour must be ground; so he will not always be threshing it. Although he drives the wheel of his threshing cart over it, his horses do not grind it.
29 Hethateh, ransahu BAWIPA koehoi doeh a tho. BAWIPA teh pouknae poenae koe kângairu hanelah ao teh, a pouknae hai a len.
This also comes forth from YHWH of hosts, who is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in wisdom.
