On the twenty-first day of the seventh month, the word of the LORD came through Haggai the prophet, saying:
2 Judah bawi kalen lah kaawm e Shealtiel e a capa Zerubbabel hoi vaihma kacue Jehozadak e capa Joshua hoi a kacawie naw koe patuen na dei pouh hane teh,
“Speak to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and also to the remnant of the people. Ask them,
3 Hete im heh ayan e a lentoenae hoi akawi e hah ouk kahmawt e nangmouh thung dawk apine na kaawm awh. Atu bangne na hmu awh. Bangnue pawiteh nangmae hmalah banglahai kaawm hoeh e patetlah nahoehmaw ao vaw.
‘Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How does it look to you now? Does it not appear to you like nothing in comparison?’
4 Hateiteh Oe! Zerubbabel na tha kâlat haw, telah BAWIPA ni ati. Oe vaihma kacue Jehozadak capa Joshua na tha kâlat haw, Oe! khocaramca naw na tha kâlat awh telah BAWIPA ni a ti.
But now be strong, O Zerubbabel, declares the LORD. Be strong, O Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. And be strong, all you people of the land, declares the LORD. Work! For I am with you, declares the LORD of Hosts.
5 Izip ram hoi na tâco awh navah, lawk ka kam e patetlah kai teh nangmouh koe ka o. Ka Muitha teh nangmouh koe ao. Puen awh hanh telah ransahu BAWIPA ni a ti.
This is the promise I made to you when you came out of Egypt. And My Spirit remains among you; do not be afraid.”
6 Ransahu BAWIPA Cathut ni a dei e teh, a tue nâsittouh a ro hoehnahlan kalvan, talai, tuipui hoi monnaw hah kai ni bout kahuet han rah.
For this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Once more, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land.
7 Miphun puenghai kahuet han rah. Miphun pueng ni a ngai kawi e hno phat vaiteh, hete im dawk lentoenae hoi kakawi sak han telah BAWIPA ni a ti.
I will shake all the nations, and they will come with all their treasures, and I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD of Hosts.
8 Sui hoi Ngun teh kaie doeh telah ransahu BAWIPA ni a ti.
The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine, declares the LORD of Hosts.
9 Atu e sak e im teh hmaloe e im hlak hoe a lentoe han telah ransahu BAWIPA ni ati. Hete hmuen koehai lungmawngnae ka poe han telah ransahu BAWIPA ni a ti.
The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former, says the LORD of Hosts. And in this place I will provide peace, declares the LORD of Hosts.”
10 Darius siangpahrang uknae a kum pahni thapa yung takonae, hnin 24 navah BAWIPA e lawk profet Haggai koehoi a dei eiteh,
On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to Haggai the prophet, saying,
11 Nang ni vaihmanaw koe na pacei hane teh,
“This is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Ask the priests for a ruling.
12 Tami ni kathounge moi hah amae angki hoi a tangoung laihoi a sin vaiteh vaiyei, ankahe, misur, satui naw, cakawi buetbuet touh hoi hote a tangoung e hoi kânep pawiteh hote rawca teh kathoung han na maw telah a pacei navah vaihmanaw ni hote rawca teh thoung hoeh telah ati awh.
If a man carries consecrated meat in the fold of his garment, and it touches bread, stew, wine, oil, or any other food, does that item become holy?’” “No,” replied the priests.
13 Haggai ni kathounghoehe ro kâbet pawiteh a khin maw telah a pacei navah, vaihmanaw ni, a khin telah a dei awh.
So Haggai asked, “If one who is defiled by contact with a corpse touches any of these, does it become defiled?” “Yes, it becomes defiled,” the priests answered.
14 Haggai nihai, hete miphun, hete khocanaw ka hmalah hottelah doeh ao awh. A tawk e puenghai hottelah doeh ao. Kai koe a thueng awh e hno hai a khin telah BAWIPA ni a ti.
Then Haggai replied, “So it is with this people and this nation before Me, declares the LORD, and so it is with every work of their hands; whatever they offer there is defiled.
15 Bawipa ni Bawkim dawk talung buet touh e van buet touh pacoung hoehnahlan, atuhoi kamtawng nateh ahmaloe e hno hah bout pouk awh haw.
Now consider carefully from this day forward: Before one stone was placed on another in the temple of the LORD,
16 Hatnae tueng navah cakang hmuen 20 touh na hmunae dawkvah, hmuen hra touh duengdoeh na hmu awh. Misur tui hlaam 50 touh a pha han na ti awh e hah misur paw kasunae koe na pha awh navah 20 touh dueng na hmu awh.
from that time, when one came expecting a heap of twenty ephahs of grain, there were but ten. When one came to the winepress to draw out fifty baths, there were but twenty.
17 Na tawksak e pueng teh kahlî ni a tânan vaiteh atui lah dui ka lawng sak toe. Hat nakunghai, kai koe lah na kamlang awh hoeh telah BAWIPA ni a ti.
I struck you—all the work of your hands—with blight, mildew, and hail, but you did not turn to Me, declares the LORD.
18 Bawipa e Bawkim khom ungnae atako e thapa, hnin 24, sahnin totouh hoi pouk awh haw.
Consider carefully from this day forward—from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, the day the foundation of the LORD’s temple was laid—consider carefully:
19 Capai dawk cakang ao maw, awm hoeh, misurkung, thaibunglung kung, talekung, olivekungnaw ni paw awh hoeh rah. Hatei, atuhoi teh kai ni nangmanaw yawhawi na poe awh han telah a ti.
Is there still seed in the barn? The vine, the fig, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not yet yielded fruit. But from this day on, I will bless you.”
20 Hote thapa 24 hnin vah Haggai koe BAWIPA e lawk bout a tho teh,
For the second time that day, the twenty-fourth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to Haggai, saying,
21 Judah kho kaukkung Zerubbabel koe bout na dei pouh hane lawk teh, Kalvan hoi talai kai ni ka kahuet han.
“Tell Zerubbabel governor of Judah that I am about to shake the heavens and the earth:
22 Uknaeram bawitungkhungnaw ka pakhuppathan vaiteh, uknae bahu pueng ka raphoe han. Rangleng hoi rangleng kâcuinaw puenghai ka pakhuppathan han. Marang dawk kâcuie ransanaw hai amamouh hoi amamouh naw tahloi hoi a kâbouk awh vaiteh a due awh han.
I will overturn royal thrones and destroy the power of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overturn chariots and their riders; horses and their riders will fall, each by the sword of his brother.
23 Kalvan e ransahu BAWIPA ni a dei e teh Shealtiel capa, kaie san Zerubbabel, hatnavah nang teh kuthrawt patetlah na ta han telah Bawipa ni ati. Nang teh na rawi toe telah ransahu BAWIPA ni a ti.
On that day, declares the LORD of Hosts, I will take you, My servant, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, declares the LORD, and I will make you like My signet ring, for I have chosen you, declares the LORD of Hosts.”
