Ezra 10

1 Hahoi Cathut im koelah kangvawi teh, tabo teh, ka laihoi Ezra ni yon ngaithoumnae a kâhei. Hatnavah Isarelnaw tamihupui napui, tongpa, camonaw ahni koe a kâracut awh teh, tamihupui teh puenghoi a khuika awh.

Now, when Ezra had prayed and when he had made confession, weeping and casting himself down, before the house of God, there gathered unto him out of Israel, an exceeding large convocation—men and women and children, for the people wept with a very bitter weeping.

2 Elam catoun thung hoi Jehiel capa Shekaniah ni Ezra koevah, maimouh Cathut koevah yon sak awh tangngak toe, hahoi hete ram dawk e miphun alouke canunaw hah yu lah paluen awh toe. Hatei Isarelnaw hanelah ngaihawinae ao rah doeh.

Then responded Shecaniah son of Jehiel of the sons of Elam, and said unto Ezra, We, have been faithful with our God, and have married foreign women from among the peoples of the land, —yet, now, there is hope for Israel concerning this thing.

3 Hatdawkvah, bawipa ni pouknae na poe e patetlah Cathut e kâpoelawk ka bari e tami ni, yucanaw ceitakhai vaiteh maimae Cathut koe lawkkamnae sak awh vaiteh kâlawk patetlah tarawi awh sei.

Now, therefore, let us solemnize a covenant unto our God—to put away all the women and such as have been born of them, in the counsel of my lord, and them who tremble at the commandment of our God, —and, according to the law, let it be done.

4 Thaw leih, bangkongtetpawiteh, hete heh nange thaw doeh, kaimouh hai nang koe lah doeh kampang awh. Lung kacakcalah awm nateh, tawk leih, telah ati awh.

Arise, for, upon thee, resteth the thing, but, we, are with thee, —be strong, and act.

5 Hahoi, Ezra a thaw teh, vaihma bawinaw, Levih miphunnaw hoi Isarel taminaw abuemlah, hote lawk patetlah lawkkamnae a sak sak teh, Hot patetlah lawkkamnae a sak awh.

Then arose Ezra and made the rulers of the priests, the Levites, and all Israel, swear to do according to this word—and they sware.

6 Hahoi, Ezra ni Cathut e im dawk hoi a thaw teh, Eliashib capa Jehohanan e imthung a kâen teh, hawvah rawca hai cat hoeh, tui hai net laipalah ao. Bangkongtetpawiteh, san dawk hoi ka hlout e taminaw yonnae kecu dawk khuika laihoi ao.

Then arose Ezra from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Jehohanan son of Eliashib, —and, when he came thither, bread, did he not eat, and, water, did he not drink, for he was mourning over the unfaithfulness of them of the Exile.

7 San dawk hoi ka hlout e taminaw pueng Jerusalem vah kamkhueng hanelah,

Then made they a proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem, unto all the Sons of the Exile, to gather themselves together unto Jerusalem;

8 Kahrawikungnaw hoi kacuenaw ni a dei e patetlah hnin 3 touh thung ka tho hoeh e tami teh, san hloutnae dawk hoi pâlei vaiteh, a tawnta e hnopai pueng lawp vaiteh, ama hai pâlei lah ao han telah, Jerusalem hoi kamtawng teh Judah ram totouh a pathang awh.

and, whosoever should not come within three days, according to the counsel of the rulers and the elders, all his goods should be devoted, —and, himself, be separated from the convocation of them of the Exile.

9 Hot patetvanlah Judahnaw hoi Benjamin miphun tongpanaw teh hnin 3 touh thung Jerusalem vah a kamkhueng awh. Thapa yung 9, hnin 21 nah kho puenghoi a rak dawkvah, taminaw teh Cathut e im hmalah sut a tahung awh teh a pâyaw awh.

Then were gathered together all the men of Judah and Benjamin unto Jerusalem, within three days, the same, was the ninth month, on the twentieth of the month, —and all the people remained in the broadway of the house of God, trembling concerning the thing, and because of the heavy rains.

10 Hatnavah, vaihma Ezra ni a thaw teh ahnimouh koevah yonnae na sak awh toe, Isarel miphun dawk yonnae a len nahanelah miphun alouke napuinaw hoi na kâpaluen awh.

Then arose Ezra the priest, and said unto them, Ye, have acted unfaithfully, and have married foreign women, —to add unto the guilt of Israel.

11 Hatdawkvah, mintoenaw e BAWIPA Cathut koe yon ngaithoum het awh, a ngainae hah sak awh nateh, hete ram dawk e miphun alouke e na yunaw hoi kâkapek awh, telah ati.

Now, therefore, make confession unto Yahweh God of your fathers, and do his pleasure, —and separate yourselves from the peoples of the land, and from the foreign women.

12 Hahoi, taminaw ni puenghoi kacailah a dei awh e teh, bokheiyah na dei e patetlah ka sak awh roeroe han.

Then responded all the convocation and said, with a loud voice, —Thus, according to thy word concerning us, must it be done.

13 Hateiteh, tami moipap awh teh khoraknae tueng lahai bout ao, alawilah kaimouh pou kangdout thai mahoeh, hahoi hnin hnin touh hoi sak hane lahai tho hoeh, bangkongtetpawiteh, hete hno dawk tami moikapap ni yonnae sak awh toe.

Nevertheless, the people, are many, and, the season, is that of the heavy rains, and we are not able to stand outside, —and, the business, is not one for a single day, nor yet for two, for we have abundantly transgressed, in this thing.

14 Tamimaya e yueng lah kahrawikungnaw ni mah na pouk pouh lawiseh. Kaimae lathueng vah kalenpounge BAWIPA lungkhueknae a roum nahanelah mae kho dawk Jentelnaw yu lah paluen e khonaw dawk e kahrawikungnaw hoi lawkcengkungnaw ni a tueng khoe e dawk rip tho awh naseh telah, ati awh.

Let, we beseech thee, our rulers take up their station for all the convocation, and, all who, throughout our cities, have married foreign women, let them come in at times appointed, and, with them, the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the glow of the anger of our God be turned from us, concerning this matter.

15 Asahel capa Jonathan hoi Tikvah capa Jahaziah ni hnâ bawt roi hoeh, hatei Levih miphun Meshullam hoi Shabbethai ni teh hnâ a bo roi.

Only Jonathan son of Asahel and Jahzeiah son of Tikvah, made a stand against this, —and, Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite, helped them.

16 Hahoi san dawk hoi kahloutnaw ni hottelah a sak awh. Vaihma Ezra ni imthung kahrawikungnaw thung hoi minnaw a la e patetlah thapa ayung 10 nae, apasuek hnin navah hote kong kâdei hanelah a kamkhueng awh.

But the Sons of the Exile, did thus, and Ezra the priest separated to himself certain men—ancestral heads by their ancestral houses, and all of them by name, —and they took their seats on the first day of the tenth month to search into the matter;

17 Hahoi Thapa yung pasuek, apasuek hnin nah, miphun alouke yu lah ka lat e kong kâdei e teh a cum awh.

and they made an end with all the men who had married foreign women, —by the first day of the first month.

18 Hahoi, vaihma capanaw thung dawk hoi miphun alouke yu lah ka lat e taminaw teh, Jeshua hoi a hmaunawngha thung e Jozadak capa hoi a hmaunawngha Maaseiah, Eliezer, Jarib hoi Gedaliah tinaw doeh.

Now there were found, of the sons of the priests, who had married foreign women, —of the sons of Jeshua son of Jozadak, and his brethren, Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah;

19 Ahnimanaw ni a yunaw kapek hanelah lawk a kam awh. Yon pâphonae dawk ngaithoum lah o nahanelah, tutan buet touh hoi thuengnae a sak awh.

and they gave their hand, that they would put away their wives, —and, being guilty, [they offered] a ram of the flock for their guilt.

20 Immer catoun thung hoi Hanani hoi Zebadiah.

And, of the sons of Immer, Hanani, and Zebadiah.

21 Harim catoun thung hoi Maaseiah, Elijah, Shemaiah, Jehiel hoi Uzziah.

And, of the sons of Harim, Maaseiah and Elijah and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah.

22 Pashhur catoun thung hoi Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethanel, Jozabad hoi Eleasah tinaw doeh.

And, of the sons of Passhur, Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethanel, Jozabad, and Elasar.

23 Levih miphunnaw thung hoi Jozabad, Shimei, Kalaiah, Pethahiah, Judah hoi Eliezer tinaw doeh.

And, of the Levites, Jozabad and Shimei, and Kelaiah, the same, is Kelita, Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.

24 La kasaknaw thung hoi Eliashib, longkha karingkungnaw thung hoi Telem hoi Uri tinaw doeh.

And, of the singers, Eliashib. And, of the doorkeepers, Shallum and Telem and Uri.

25 Isarelnaw thung hoi Parosh capa thung hoi Ramiah, Jeriah, Malkhijah hoi Benaiah.

And, of Israel, of the sons of Parosh, Ramiah and Izziah and Malchijah and Mijamin and Eleazar, and Malchijah, and Benaiah.

26 Elam capa thung hoi Mattaniah, Zekhariah, Jehiel, Abdi, Jerimoth hoi Elijah tinaw doeh.

And, of the sons of Elam, Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Jehiel and Abdi, and Jeremoth, and Elijah.

27 Zattu capanaw thung hoi Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah Jerimoth, Zabad hoi Aziza tinaw doeh.

And, of the sons of Zattu, Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah and Jeremoth, and Zabad, and Aziza.

28 Bebai capanaw thung hoi Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabai hoi Athlai.

And, of the sons of Bebai, Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, Athlai.

29 Bani capanaw thung hoi Meshullam, Malluck, Adaiah, Joshub, Sheal hoi Jerimoth tinaw doeh.

And, of the sons of Bani, Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Jashub, and Sheal, Jeremoth.

30 Phathmoab capanaw thung hoi Adna, Khelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezalel, Binnui, hoi Manasseh tinaw doeh.

And, of the sons of Pahath-moab, Adna and Chelal, —Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezalel, and Binnui, and Manasseh.

31 Harim capanaw thung hoi Eliezer, Isshijah, Malkhijah, Shemaiah, Simeon.

And, [of] the sons of Harim, Eliezer, Isshijah, Malchijah, Shemaiah, Shimeon;

32 Benjamin, Malluck hoi Shemariah tinaw doeh.

Benjamin, Malluch, Shemariah.

33 Hashum capanaw thung hoi Mattenai, Mattattah, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasseh hoi Shimei tinaw doeh.

Of the sons of Hashum, Mattenai, Mattattah, Zabad, Eliphelet, —Jeremai, Manasseh, Shimei.

34 Bani capanaw thung hoi Maadai, Amram, Uel.

Of the sons of Bani, Maadai, Amram, and Uel;

35 Benaiah, Bedeiah, Kheluh.

Benaiah, Bedeiah, Cheluhu;

36 Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib.

Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib;

37 Mattaniah, Mattenai, Jaasu.

Mettaniah, Mattenai, and Jaasu;

38 Bani, Binnui, Shimei.

and Bani, and Binnui, Shimei;

39 Shelemiah, Nathan, Adaiah.

and Shelemiah, and Nathan, and Adaiah;

40 Maknadebai, shashai, Sharai.

Machnadebai, Shashai, Sharai;

41 Azarel, Shelemiah, Shemariah.

42 Shallum, Amariah, hoi Joseph tinaw doeh.

43 Nebo capanaw thung hoi Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Iddo, Joel hoi Benaiah tinaw doeh.

Of the sons of Nebo, Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, —Iddo, and Joel, Benaiah.

44 Hetnaw pueng teh miphun alouke yu lah ka lat e taminaw doeh, tami tangawn ni a yunaw koehoi ca catoun a hmu awh.

All these, had taken foreign women, —and had begotten of them children.
