< Ezekiel 14 >
1 Isarel kacuenaw tangawn kai koe a tho awh teh, ka hmalah a tahung awh.
Then some of the elders of Israel came and sat down before me.
2 Hahoi BAWIPA e lawk kai koe a pha teh,
And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
3 tami capa, hetnaw ni amae meikaphawknaw hah a lungthin dawk a kâen sak awh teh, a hmalah a yonae dawk tâlawnae hah a hruek awh teh, ahnimouh ni pouknae hei hanelah ka o pouh han namaw.
“Son of man, these men have set up idols in their hearts and put wicked stumbling blocks before their faces. Should I consult with them in any way?
4 Hatdawkvah, pato nateh, Bawipa Jehovah ni hettelah a dei. Isarel imthung koe tami pueng ni meikaphawk a lungthin thung a kâen sak teh, hotnaw e hmalah payonnae dawk a rawpnae hah hruek pouh teh, profetnaw koe ka tho pueng, kai BAWIPA ni amae meikaphawk a pap e hoi kamcu lah ka pathung han.
Therefore speak to them and tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘When any Israelite sets up idols in his heart and puts a wicked stumbling block before his face, and then comes to the prophet, I the LORD will answer him according to his great idolatry,
5 Isarel imthung ni amae meikaphawk kecu dawk hoi na ceitakhai awh dawkvah, a lungthin katang dawkvah ka kuet thai nahanelah telah ati.
so that I may take hold of the hearts of the people of Israel. For because of their idols, they are all estranged from Me.’
6 Hatdawkvah, Isarel imthung koevah, Bawipa Jehovah ni hettelah a dei. Ban awh nateh, namamae meikaphawk koehoi ban awh. Panuet na thonae pueng cettakhai awh.
Therefore tell the house of Israel that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Repent and turn away from your idols; turn your faces away from all your abominations.
7 Isarel imthung dawk tami bangpatet hai thoseh, Isarel ram e kho ka sak pueng thoseh kai koehoi a kamlang teh, a lungthin dawk meikaphawk a kâen sak lahoi a hmalah payonnae dawk rawpnae hah hruek e lahoi, ahnimouh kong dawk pouknae hei hanelah, profet koevah ka tho e pueng teh kai BAWIPA roeroe ni ka pathung awh han.
For when any Israelite or any foreigner dwelling in Israel separates himself from Me, sets up idols in his heart, and puts a wicked stumbling block before his face, and then comes to the prophet to inquire of Me, I the LORD will answer him Myself.
8 Hote tami teh, ka kangdue sin vaiteh, noutnae, cingthuinae lah ka hruek han. Ahni hah ka taminaw koehoi ka takhoe han. BAWIPA lah ka o tie a panue awh han.
I will set My face against that man and make him a sign and a proverb; I will cut him off from among My people. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
But if the prophet is enticed to speak a message, then it was I the LORD who enticed him, and I will stretch out My hand against him and destroy him from among My people Israel.
10 A payonnae hah a phu awh han. Profet reknae hoi pouknae kahetkung reknae hah a kâvan han.
They will bear their punishment—the punishment of the inquirer will be the same as that of the prophet—
11 Isarel imthung teh kai koehoi kahmat awh hoeh toung vaiteh, a payonnae pueng ni a kamhnawng sak hoeh nahanelah, ka tami lah ao awh toung dawkvah, a Cathut lah ka o thai nahan, Bawipa Jehovah ni a dei tet pouh, telah ati.
in order that the house of Israel may no longer stray from Me and no longer defile themselves with all their transgressions. Then they will be My people and I will be their God, declares the Lord GOD.’”
12 BAWIPA e lawk kai koe a pha teh,
And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
13 tami capa, ram dawk e taminaw ni kâlawk a tapoe awh teh, kaie lathueng yonnae a sak e lahoi, kai ni ka kut ka dâw teh, a hringnae a kungpui, a rawcanaw raphoe pouh e lahoi ahnimouh lathueng takang ka tho sak e lahoi tami hoi saringnaw ka pâmit toteh,
“Son of man, if a land sins against Me by acting unfaithfully, and I stretch out My hand against it to cut off its supply of food, to send famine upon it, and to cut off from it both man and beast,
14 Hete tami kathum touh: Noah, Daniel, hoi Job patenghai awm awh haw pawiteh, a lannae ni amamae hringnae dueng doeh rungngang thai awh tih, telah Jehovah ni a dei.
then even if these three men—Noah, Daniel, and Job—were in it, their righteousness could deliver only themselves, declares the Lord GOD.
15 A ram hah sarang katin sak vaiteh, ram hah ka raphoe dawkvah, apihai ao thai hoeh dawkvah, tami kingdi pawiteh,
Or if I send wild beasts through the land to leave it childless and desolate, with no man passing through it for fear of the beasts,
16 hete tami kathum touh kaawm nakunghai ka hring e Bawipa Jehovah ni telah a dei, amamae a canu capa naw rungngang thai kalawn mahoeh. Amamanaw dueng rungngang e lah ao awh vaiteh, a ram teh kingdi lah doeh bout ao han.
then as surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, even if these three men were in it, they could not deliver their own sons or daughters. They alone would be delivered, but the land would be desolate.
17 Hoehpawiteh a ram dawk tahloi ka hno vaiteh, tahloi kâroe haw ka tet boilah, tami hoi moithang pueng koung ka pâmit pawiteh,
Or if I bring a sword against that land and say, ‘Let a sword pass through it,’ so that I cut off from it both man and beast,
18 Hete tami kathum touh kaawm nakunghai Bawipa Jehovah a hring e patetlah a canu capa naw rungngang thai kalawn mahoeh. Amamae hringnae dueng hah a rungngang thai awh han.
then as surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, even if these three men were in it, they could not deliver their own sons or daughters. They alone would be delivered.
19 Nahoeh pawiteh, a ram dawk lacik ka pha sak vaiteh, tami hoi moithang be pâmit hanlah thingpalawngnae lahoi ka lungkhueknae hah a ram dawk ka awi pawiteh,
Or if I send a plague into that land and pour out My wrath upon it through bloodshed, cutting off from it both man and beast,
20 Noah, Daniel, hoi Job ahnimouh kaawm awh nakunghai, Bawipa Jehovah ni kai ka hring e patetlah a canu a capa naw hai rungngang mahoeh. A lannae ni amamae hringnae dueng a rungngang awh han telah, BAWIPA ni a dei.
then as surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, they could not deliver their own sons or daughters. Their righteousness could deliver only themselves.
21 Bangkongtetpawiteh, Bawipa Jehovah ni hettelah a dei. Jerusalem lathueng vah, ka patawpoung e ka lawkcengnae pali touh: tahloi, takang, sarang hoi lacik hah tami hoi saring be pâmit hanelah ka pha sak toteh, banghloine a pataw han.
For this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘How much worse will it be when I send against Jerusalem My four dire judgments—sword, famine, wild beasts, and plague—in order to cut off from it both man and beast?
22 Hatei khenhaw! hawvah, kaawm rae tâcokhai hanelah, pâhlung lah ao han. Canu capa naw hai, khenhaw! nangmouh koe a tho awh han. A hringnae hoi a tawksak awh e hah, na hmu awh han. Hahoi Jerusalem lathueng vah, hawihoehnae kaphasaknae kong dawkvah, lung na mawng sak awh han. A lathueng hno ka pha sak e pueng dawk a lungmawng awh han.
Yet, behold, some survivors will be left in it—sons and daughters who will be brought out. They will come out to you, and when you see their conduct and actions, you will be comforted regarding the disaster I have brought upon Jerusalem—all that I have brought upon it.
23 A hringnae hoi a tawksaknae hah na hmu awh toteh, na lung a mawng sak awh han. A lathueng ka sak e pueng a khuekhaw awm laipalah ka sak hoeh tie na panue awh han telah Bawipa Jehovah ni a dei, telah ati.
They will bring you consolation when you see their conduct and actions, and you will know that it was not without cause that I have done all these things within it,’ declares the Lord GOD.”
