1 Hahoi Bawipa Jehovah ni kai na patue e teh, khenhaw! kawmpoi paw tangthung buet touh ka hmu.
And behold a fowler's basket.
2 Amos nang ni, bang e hno maw na hmu telah na pacei teh, kawmpoi paw tangthung buet touh ka hmu ka ti pouh navah, BAWIPA ni a hnukteng e tueng teh, ka tami Isarelnaw koe a pha toe. Atuhoi teh, ahnimanaw hah nâtuek hai ka pahlout mahoeh toe.
And he said, What seest thou, Amos? And I said, A fowler's basket. And the Lord said to me, The end is come upon my people Israel; I will not pass by them any more.
3 Hatnae tueng nah, bawkimnaw hah a khui awh han. Hmuen tangkuem dawk tami ronaw awm vaiteh, arulahoi a tâkhawng awh han telah Bawipa Jehovah ni a ti.
And the ceilings of the temple shall howl in that day, saith the Lord God: [there shall be] many a fallen one in every place; I will bring silence upon [them].
4 Maimouh ni cakang yo hanelah, thaparei hnin loum lawiseh, satun yo hanelah, sabbath hnin loum lawiseh teh awh vaiteh,
Hear now this, ye that oppress the poor in the morning, and drive the needy ones by tyranny from the earth,
5 Ephah hah thoung sak hanelah, shekel hah len sak hanelah, sak awh vaiteh, kahmanhoeh e yawcu hah hno awh vaiteh, karoedengnaw hah tangka hoi, a vonkahlamnaw hah, khokkhawm hoi ran awh vaiteh, satun hah a yo awh han.
saying, When will the month pass away, and we shall sell, and the sabbath, and we shall open the treasure, to make the measure small, and to enlarge the weight, and make the balance unfair?
6 A vonkahlamnaw hah, hnephnap vaiteh, ka roedeng e ramnaw hah, raphoe hanelah kangainaw, hete lawk hah thai awh haw.
That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for shoes; and we will trade in every kind of fruit.
7 Bawipa Jehovah ni Jakop e a lentoenae thoebo teh, ahnimae tawksak e naw pueng nâtuek hai kai ni ka pahnim hoeh.
The Lord swears against the pride of Jacob, None of your works shall ever be forgotten.
8 Hote kong dawk ram kâhuen vaiteh taminaw pueng ni, lungpuen mahoeh maw. Nai palang patetlah ram pueng thaw awh vaiteh, Izip ram e palang ni a muem e patetlah pâyawt vaiteh muem awh mahoeh maw.
And shall not the land be troubled for these things, and shall not every one who dwells in it mourn? whereas destruction shall come up as a river, and shall descend as the river of Egypt.
9 BAWIPA Cathut ni a dei e teh, hatnae tueng dawk teh, kanîthun e tueng nah, kai ni kanî ka loum sak han. Talai hah ka hmo sak han.
And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord God, [that] the sun shall go down at noon, and the light shall be darkened on the earth by day:
10 Nangmae pawi na to e hah, lungmathoenae lah ka o sak han. La na sak awh e naw hah, khuikanae lah ka o sak han. Tami pueng ni buri khohna hoi keng dawk kâyeng sak hanelah, sam hah a ngaw nahanelah, kai ni ka sak han. Ca tawntoe e a due dawk khuika e patetlah, a poutnae koe, kakhat poung e hnin patetlah kacoungsak han telah a ti.
and I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth on all loins, and baldness on every head; and I will make them as the mourning of a beloved [friend], and those with them as a day of grief.
11 Bawipa Jehovah ni a dei e teh, takangnae hah ram pueng dawk kathosak han. Canei takang nahoeh, tui takang hai nahoeh. Cathut e lawk thainae takang doeh.
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will send forth a famine on the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the word of the Lord.
12 Taminaw ni BAWIPA lawk a tawng awh han. Tui pui buet touh koehoi tuipui buet touh totouh, atunglah, akalah, kanîtho, kanîloum a yawng awh nakunghai, hmawt awh mahoeh.
And the waters shall be troubled from sea to sea, and from the north to the east shall [men] run hither and thither, seeking the word of the Lord, and they shall not find [it].
13 Hatnae tueng dawk a meikahawi poung e tanglakacuemnaw hoi thoundounnaw ni tui kahran hoi a patang awh han.
In that day shall the fair virgins and the young men faint for thirst;
14 Samaria cathut hoi thoekâbo e tami, Dan cathut hoi thoekâbo e tami, Beersheba cathut min lahoi ka tet e naw haiyah koung a rawp awh vaiteh, nâtuek hai thaw thai awh mahoeh toe.
they who swear by the propitiation of Samaria, and who say, Thy god, O Dan, lives; and, Thy god, O Bersabee, lives; and they shall fall, and shall no more rise again.
