< 2 Siangpahrang 6 >

1 Profet capanaw ni Elisha koevah, khenhaw! nang koe khosaknae hmuen heh, maimouh hanelah a thoungca toe.
And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, —See, we pray thee, the place wherein we sit before thee, is too strait for us.
2 Pahren lahoi Jordan palang na cetsak awh nateh, Hawvah thing tâtueng awh han, mamouh khosak nahanelah sak awh han telah atipouh. Elisha ni oe cet awh leih telah kâ a poe.
Let us go, we pray thee, as far as the Jordan, and fetch from thence every man a single beam, and let us make us a place wherein we may sit. And he said—Go ye.
3 Tami buet touh ni, na sannaw koe ka cei han telah ati. Oe cet van lawih atipouh.
Then said one—Be content, we pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he said—I myself, will go.
4 Hahoi teh ahnimouh koe a cei van. Jordan palang a pha toteh, thing a tâtueng awh.
So he went with them, —and, when they came to the Jordan, they cut down wood.
5 Tami buet touh ni, thing a tâtueng lahun nah, cakâ hah tui thung a bo teh ahni ni Aiyoe! ka bawipa, ka hlai e doeh, telah a hram.
And it came to pass, as one was felling a branch, that, the axe-head, fell into the water, so he made outcry and said—Alas! my lord, for, it, was borrowed!
6 Cathut e tami ni, nâtueng tapat maw a bo telah atipouh. Ahni ni a bonae tueng hah a patue. Hahoi thing buet touh a tâtueng hote hmuen koe a tâkhawng teh cakâ teh avanlah a kâlaw.
And the man of God said—Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a piece of wood and cast it in thither, and the iron did swim.
7 Hatdawkvah ahni ni, racawng leih, atipouh hahoi a kâyap teh a racawng.
And he said—Take it up to thee. So he put forth his hand, and took it.
8 Siria siangpahrang ni Isarel hah a tuk teh awi haw vah, awi hi vah pawm awh sei telah a sannaw hah a dei pouh.
Now, the king of Syria, was making war against Israel, —so he took counsel with his servants, saying—In such and such a place, shall be my encampment.
The man of God, therefore, sent unto the king of Israel, saying—Beware of passing by this place, —for, thither, are the Syrians coming down.
10 Isarel siangpahrang ni, Cathut tami ni a dei e hmuen, panue thai nahanlah tami a patoun. Awi haw hoi teh vai touh vai hni touh nahoeh. Voutsout a kârungngang awh toe.
So the king of Israel sent unto the place whereof the man of God had spoken to him and warned him, and was on his guard there, —not once nor twice
11 Hatdawkvah, hote kecu dawk Siria siangpahrang teh a lungreithai poung. A sannaw hah a kaw awh teh, ahnimouh koe vah, maimouh thung dawk hoi, apimaw Isarel Siangpahrang koe lah kampang e kaawm awh vai tie hah kai na panuek sak awh mahoeh maw atipouh.
Then was the heart of the king of Syria disquieted concerning this thing, —and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not tell me, who of our men are for the king of Israel?
12 A sannaw thung dawk hoi tami buet touh ni, apihai panuesaknae awm hoeh. Siangpahrang ka bawipa, hatei Isarel ram e kaawm profet Elisha ni na i khan koe na dei e lawk patenghai yah Isarel siangpahrang koe ouk a dei pouh dawk doeh atipouh.
Then said one of his servants, None, my lord O king, —but, Elisha, the prophet, who is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words which thou speakest in thy bed-chamber.
13 Siangpahrang ni tami hah a patoun teh, man thai nahanelah na maw ao, tawng awh leih atipouh. Khenhaw! Dothan kho ao atipouh awh.
And he said—Go, and see where he is, that I may send and take him. And it was told him, saying—Lo! in Dothan.
14 Marang hoi leng hoi, ransa moikapap lah a patoun. Karum vah a cei awh teh, kho hah a kalup awh.
Therefore sent he thither—horses and chariots, and a strong force, —and they came in by night, and encompassed the city.
15 Cathut tami e a san teh amom vah a thaw teh, a tâco toteh khenhaw! ransanaw ni marang hoi leng hoi kho hah king a kalup awh. A sanpa ni a bawipa koe ayâ ka bawipa bangtelamaw ti han toung atipouh.
And, when the attendant of the man of God arose early and went forth, lo! a force surrounding the city, with horses and chariots. Then said his young man unto him—Alas! my lord, what shall we do?
16 Ahni ni, taket hanh, ahnimouh koelae hlak vah, maimouh koelae a paphnawn atipouh.
And he said—Do not fear, —for, more, are, they who are with us, than, they who are with them.
17 Elisha ni a ratoum teh BAWIPA a hmu thai nahan a mit ang sak haw atipouh. Hahoi BAWIPA ni hote thoundoun e mit a ang sak teh a hmu thai van. Elisha tengpam e mon dawkvah, hmaimarang hoi rangleng hoi akawi.
Then prayed Elisha, and said, O Yahweh! open, I beseech thee, his eyes, that he may see. And Yahweh opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and lo! the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire, round about Elisha.
18 Siria taminaw ni ateng a pha awh toteh, Elisha ni BAWIPA koevah a ratoum. Hetnaw heh a mitdawn sak haw atipouh. Elisha e lawk patetlah a mit a dawn sak.
And, when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto Yahweh, and said—Smite, I beseech thee, this people, with sudden blindness. And he smote them with sudden blindness, according to the word of Elisha.
19 Elisha ni ahnimouh koe, het heh lam nahoeh. Kho hai kho nahoeh. Ka hnukkâbang awh, na tawng e tami koe na ceikhai awh han telah atipouh. Hottelah hoi Samaria vah a ceikhai awh.
Then Elisha said unto them—This, is not the way, neither is, this, the city, follow me, that I may lead you unto the man, whom ye would secure! So he led them to Samaria.
20 Samaria a pha toteh, Elisha ni BAWIPA koe vah a ratoum hetnaw heh a mit a hmu thai nahan a mit padai sak haw atipouh. Hahoi BAWIPA ni a mit a padai sak awh teh, koung a ang pouh. Khenhaw! Samaria doeh ao awh.
And it came to pass, when they had entered Samaria, that Elisha said, O Yahweh! open the eyes of these men, that they may see! And Yahweh opened their eyes, and they saw, and lo! they were in the midst of Samaria!
21 Isarel siangpahrang ni a hmu awh toteh Elisha koevah apa ka thei awh han maw, thet laipalah maw ka ta han telah atipouh.
Then said the king of Israel unto Elisha, when he saw them, —Shall I smite—shall I smite, my father?
22 Hatei ahni ni thet hanh. Na tahloi hoi na lilava hoi na man e san hah, na thei han na maw, vaiyei hoi tui hah poe awh na teh cat net awh naseh, a bawipa koe bout phat awh naseh.
And he said—Thou shalt not smite. Them whom thou hadst taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow, wouldst, thou, have been smiting? Set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go their way unto their lord.
23 Hahoi teh canei kawi moi a poe awh teh be a canei awh hoi teh, a ban sak awh. A bawipa koe koung a pha awh, hahoi teh Sirianaw ni Isarel ram taran bout thaw awh hoeh toe.
And he made for them a great feast, and, when they had eaten and drunk, he let them go, and they went their way unto their lord. So then, troops of Syrians came again, no more, into the land of Israel.
24 Hahoi teh hettelah doeh. Siria siangpahrang Benhadad ni ransanaw a pâkhueng teh Samaria king a kalup awh.
But it came to pass, after this, that Ben-hadad king of Syria gathered together all his host, —and came up and laid siege against Samaria.
25 Samaria teh takangnae a patawpoung. Khenhaw! king a kalup awh teh, la e a lû hah tangka 80 touh lah a yo awh. Bakhu ei, pung pali touh dawk pung touh tangka shekel panga touh lah a pâphu awh.
And there came to be, a great famine, in Samaria, and lo! they continued the siege against it, —until an ass’s head was sold for eighty pieces of silver, and one pint of dove’s dung for five pieces of silver.
26 Isarel siangpahrang teh, rapan koe a cei navah, napui buet touh ni, oe siangpahrang ka bawipa na kabawm ei atipouh.
And so it was that, as the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman, made outcry unto him, saying—Save, my lord, O king!
27 Siangpahrang ni BAWIPA laipalah hoi kai ni bangtelah hoi maw na kabawp thai han aw, cangkatin nah koe, misur katinnae koe lahoi atipouh.
And he said—If Yahweh do not save thee, whence should I save thee? out of the threshing-floor or out of the wine-press?
28 Siangpahrang ni napui koevah, Bangpatete runae maw bout atipouh. Napui ni, hete napui kai koe sahnin vah na capa heh ca hanelah thei roi han. Tangtho vah kaie capa hah ca roi han atipouh.
And the king said to her—What aileth thee? And she said—This woman, said unto me—Give thy son, that we may eat him, to-day, and, my son, will we eat to-morrow.
29 Hatdawkvah, ka capa hah ka thawng teh ka ca roi toe. Atangtho teh kai ni hai na capa ca hanelah thet van leih ka ti pouh toteh, a capa te oun a hro telah atipouh.
So we cooked my son, and did eat him, —and I said unto her, on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him; But she had hid her son.
30 Siangpahrang ni hote napui ni a dei e a thai toteh, amae angki a phi teh, rapan van a kâhlai lahun nah, tami moikapap ni a khet toteh, burihni hah un a kâkhu.
And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he rent his clothes, while yet he was passing by upon the wall, —so the people looked, and lo! sackcloth upon his flesh, within.
31 Siangpahrang ni Shaphat capa Elisha e a lû teh sahnin a tak hoi kâkapek laipalah awm rah pawiteh, Cathut ni a ngai e patetlah na sak naseh, hot hlak ka pataw lahai yah a ti.
And he said—So, let God do to me, and, so, let him add, —if the head of Elisha son of Shaphat remain on him, to-day!
32 Hatei Elisha ni a im van a tahung teh a lungkahanaw hai a tahung awh van. Siangpahrang ni ahni koe patoune a patoun. Hatei hote a patoune a tho hoehnahlan vah, Elisha ni tami ka thet e a ca teh kaie lahuen tâtueng hanlah, a patoun e na panuek awh hoeh maw. Hote a patoun e a tho toteh tho na khan awh teh, takhang teng vah ahni hah ngang awh. Ahnie a hnuklah a bawipa e lamcei pawlawk tho hoeh maw a ti.
Now, Elisha, being seated in his house, and, the elders, seated with him, —when he had sent a man from before him, ere yet the messenger could come in unto him, he himself, said unto the elders—Do ye see how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away my head? See! when the messenger is coming in, close ye the door, and press him back with the door, is not the sound of his lord’s feet behind him?
33 Hot patetlah ahnimouh a pato lahun nah, patoune teh ahnimouh koe a pha, hahoi a patoun e naw ni khenhaw! rawkphainae heh BAWIPA ni a patoun e doeh. BAWIPA teh bangkong bout ka ring han vaw telah a ti.
While yet he was speaking with them, lo! the messenger, coming down unto him, —and he said, —Lo! this, is a calamity from Yahweh, why should I wait for Yahweh, any longer?
