1 Kacue e kai ni, a rawi e bawinu hoi a canaw hah ca na patawn. Lawkkatang dawk ka lungpataw teh, kai ni dueng laipalah lawkkatang ka panuek e naw pueng nihai lung na pataw awh.
The elder to [the] elect lady and her children, whom I love in truth, and not I only but also all who have known the truth,
for the truth's sake which abides in us and shall be with us to eternity. (aiōn g165)
3 Pa Cathut koehoi, Pa e Capa Bawipa Jisuh Khrih koehoi, lungmanae, pahrennae hoi roumnae teh lawkkatang hoi lungpatawnae lahoi nangmouh koe awm lawiseh.
Grace shall be with you, mercy, peace from God [the] Father, and from [the] Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
4 Maimae na pa koehoi kâpoelawk coe awh e patetlah na canaw tami tangawn ni lawkkatang dawk a hring awh tie ka hmu navah ka konawm poung.
I rejoiced greatly that I have found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received commandment from the Father.
5 Hatdawkvah bawinu, kâpoelawk katha hah ka thut hoeh, ahmaloe hoi maimouh koe kaawm tangcoung e kâpoelawk, buet touh hoi buet touh lungkâpataw awh sei telah ka kâhei.
And now I beseech thee, lady, not as writing to thee a new commandment, but that which we have had from [the] beginning, that we should love one another.
6 Lungkâpataw tie teh Bawipa e kâpoelawknaw tarawinae hah doeh. Hote kâpoelawknaw teh ahmaloe hoi na thai awh tangcoung e patetlah lungpatawnae dawk hringnae hah doeh.
And this is love, that we should walk according to his commandments. This is the commandment, according as ye have heard from the beginning, that ye might walk in it.
7 Jisuh Khrih teh tami coungnae lahoi a tho yaw ma ka tet e tami het talaivan moi a tâco toe. Hot patet e taminaw teh dumyennae hoi kakawi e tami a tho dawkvah khrihkaphawk doeh.
For many deceivers have gone out into the world, they who do not confess Jesus Christ coming in flesh — this is the deceiver and the antichrist.
8 Maimouh teh ma ni tawk e pahmat laipalah tawkphu kakueplah hmu awh han.
See to yourselves, that we may not lose what we have wrought, but may receive full wages.
9 Khrih e cangkhainae dawk kaawm hoeh e tami teh Cathut panuek hoeh. Khrih e cangkhainae dawk kaawm e tami teh Pa hoi Capa hah a panue.
Whosoever goes forward and abides not in the doctrine of the Christ has not God. He that abides in the doctrine, he has both the Father and the Son.
10 Hete cangkhainae tawn laipalah apipatet hai nangmouh koe tho pawiteh na im dawk luen sak a hanh, dawn awh hanh.
If any one come to you and bring not this doctrine, do not receive him into [the] house, and greet him not;
11 Bangkongtetpawiteh, hot patetlah e tami hah na dawn pawiteh, ahnie hawihoehnae dawk na ka bawk e lah na o.
for he who greets him partakes in his wicked works.
12 Nangmouh koe dei hane kawi moi ka tawn rah ei, cahna dawk cahang hoi thut hane hlakvah, nangmouh koe ka pai vaiteh buet touh hoi buet touh lunghawinae a kuep nahanlah nangmouh koe ka tho teh, nangmouh hoi lawk kapan awh han tie doeh ka ngaihnawn teh ka ngaihawi.
Having many things to write to you, I would not with paper and ink; but hope to come to you, and to speak mouth to mouth, that our joy may be full.
13 Rawilah kaawm e na nawngha e a canaw ni kut na man awh.
The children of thine elect sister greet thee.
