1 Siangpahrang Jeroboam a bawinae kum 18 navah, Abijah teh Judah ram dawk siangpahrang thaw a kamtawng.
In the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam, began Abijah to reign over Judah:
2 Jerusalem kho dawk kum thum touh a bawi. A manu e min teh Mikhaiah, Gebeah tami Uriel e canu doeh. Hatnavah Abijah hoi Rehoboam teh a kâtuk roi.
three years, reigned he in Jerusalem, and, the name of his mother, was Maacah, daughter of Uriel of Gibeah, —and there was, war, between Abijah and Jeroboam.
3 Abijah ni tarankahawi ni teh tarantuk kathoum e 400,000 touh a rawi teh a tuk. Jeroboam ni hai tarankahawi ni teh taran katukthai tami 800,000 touh a rawi teh a tuk van.
And Abijah began the war with a force of heroes of war, four hundred thousand chosen men, —and, Jeroboam, set in array against him to battle, with eight hundred thousand chosen men, heroes of valour.
4 Abijah teh Ephraim ram dawk e mon Zemaraim mon dawk a kangdue teh, Oe Jeroboam Isarelnaw abuemlahoi thai awh haw.
And Abijah stood up upon Mount Zemaraim, which is in the hill country of Ephraim, —and said, Hear me, O Jeroboam and all Israel!
5 Isarel BAWIPA Cathut ni palawi hoi lawkkamnae, Isarel uknaeram teh Devit hoi a ca catounnaw koe yungyoe hanelah a poe toe tie hah na panuek awh hoeh maw.
Is it not yours to know, that, Yahweh God of Israel gave the kingdom to David, over Israel, unto times age-abiding, —to him and to his sons, by a covenant of salt?
6 Hateiteh, Devit capa Solomon e san Nebat capa Jeroboam ni a bawipa a taran toe.
Yet hath Jeroboam son of Nebat, servant of Solomon son of David, risen up, —and rebelled against his lord.
7 Solomon e capa Rehoboam teh a camo dawkvah pouklaknae hai a tawn hoeh rah dawkvah, a ngang thai hoeh torei teh, cungkeihoehe taminaw hoi tamikathoutnaw teh Rehoboam koe lah a kamkhueng awh.
And there are gathered unto him vain men, sons of the Abandoned One, who emboldened themselves against Rehoboam son of Solomon, -when, Rehoboam, was young and tender of heart, and had not strengthened himself to meet them.
Now, therefore, ye, are thinking to strengthen yourselves against the kingdom of Yahweh, in the hand of the sons of David, —and, ye, are a great multitude, and, with you, are calves of gold, which Jeroboam hath made you for gods.
9 BAWIPA e vaihmanaw, Aron e capanaw hoi Levihnaw na takhoe teh, alouke miphunnaw ni a sak e patetlah vaihmanaw na hruek awh. Maitotanca hoi tu sari touh hoi kamthoung e tami pueng teh, na cathutnaw e vaihma lah na coung sak awh nahoehmaw.
Have ye not driven out the priests of Yahweh, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, —and made for yourselves priests like the peoples of the countries? Whosoever cometh to install himself with a young bullock, and seven rams, then becometh he a priest unto the, no-gods.
10 Hatei, kaimanaw teh Cathut ka pahnawt awh hoeh. Hote Cathut teh kaimae BAWIPA doeh. BAWIPA e thaw ka tawk e vaihmanaw teh Aron miphunnaw doeh. Levihnaw hai amamae thaw lengkaleng a tawk awh.
But, as for us, Yahweh, is our God, and we have not forsaken him, —and, the priests who are waiting upon Yahweh, are sons of Aaron, with Levites in the work;
11 Amom hoi tangminlah tangkuem BAWIPA hanelah hmaisawi thuengnae hoi hmuitui ouk a thueng awh. Paawng e vaiyei hai kathounge caboi dawk a hruek awh.
and they are making a perfume unto Yahweh, with ascending-sacrifices morning by morning, and evening by evening and an incense of sweet spices, and are putting in order bread upon the pure table, and the lampstand of gold with the lamps thereof, for lighting up evening by evening, for, observant, are we of the charge of Yahweh our God, —whereas, ye, have forsaken him.
12 Khenhaw! Cathut teh kaimouh koe ao teh, kaimae lû lahai ao. Vaihmanaw hai nangmanaw na tuk navah amamae kâhruetcuetnae mongka hah kâhruetcuet nahanlah ueng han lah ao awh. Oe Isarelnaw mintoenaw e BAWIPA Cathut tuk hanelah kâcai hanh awh. Na tuk awh pawiteh, na sung awh han telah atipouh.
And lo! with us as Head, is God himself, and his priests, and the trumpets of alarm, to sound an alarm against you, —O sons of Israel! do not fight against Yahweh God of your fathers, for ye shall not prosper.
13 Hatei, Jeroboam ni a ransa tangawn hah Judah ransanaw a hnuklah arulah hoi pawp hanelah a patoun. Hahoi a tangawn teh hmalah hoi kalup vaiteh tuk hanelah a noe.
But, Jeroboam, sent round an ambush, to come up from behind them, —so they were before Judah and, the ambush, did come up from behind them.
14 Judahnaw ni hnukhma lahoi a pawp awh e a panue toteh BAWIPA a kaw awh. Vaihmanaw ni hai mongka a ueng awh.
And, when Judah turned and lo! as for them, the battle was before and behind, then made they outcry unto Yahweh, —and, the priests, kept on blowing with the trumpets.
15 Hahoi Judahnaw a thaw awh teh puenghoi a hramki awh. Hottelah Judahnaw a hramki torei teh, Abijah hoi Judahnaw hmalah Jeroboam hoi Isarelnaw pueng Cathut ni taran a sung sak.
Then the men of Judah gave a shout, —and it came to pass, when the men of Judah shouted, then, God himself, smote Jeroboam and all Israel, before Abijah and Judah.
16 Isarelnaw teh Judahnaw e hmalah a yawng awh teh, Cathut ni ahnimae kut dawk a poe.
And the sons of Israel fled from before Judah, —and God delivered them into their hand.
17 Abijah hoi a taminaw ni tami moikapap a thei awh teh, a rawi e tami 500000 touh a thei awh.
And Abijah and his people smote among them with a great smiting, —and there fell down slain, of Israel, five hundred thousand chosen men.
18 Judahnaw ni mintoenaw e BAWIPA Cathut kâuep awh dawkvah, Isarelnaw teh hatnavah taran a sung awh.
Thus were the sons of Israel subdued at that time, —and the sons of Judah prevailed, because they leaned upon Yahweh the God of their fathers.
19 Hahoi Abijah ni Jeroboam a pâlei teh, Bethel khopui hoi khotenaw, Jeshanah khopui hoi khotenaw, Ephraim khopui hoi khotenaw, ahnie kut dawk hoi a lawp.
And Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and captured from him, cities, even Bethel, with the villages thereof, and Jeshanah, with the villages thereof, —and Ephron, with the villages thereof;
20 Abijah a hring nathung Jeroboam teh a tha bout sai thai hoeh. BAWIPA ni a hem teh a due.
neither was Jeroboam strong any more, in the days of Abijah, —and Yahweh smote him that he died.
21 Hatei, Abijah teh athakaawme lah ao teh a yu 14 touh a la, ca tongpa 22 touh hoi napui 16 touh a tawn.
And Abijah strengthened himself, and took him, fourteen wives, —and begat twenty-two sons, and sixteen daughters.
22 Abijah ni a tawksak e kaawm rae hoi a nuencang a deipan e lawklungnaw teh profet Iddo e lairui cauk dawk thut lah ao.
And, the rest of the story of Abijah, both his ways and his words, —are written, in the commentary of the prophet Iddo.
