< 1 Timote 2 >
1 Tami pueng hanelah hai thoseh, siangpahrangnaw hoi kâ katawnnaw hanelah hai thoseh,
First of all then, I am urging that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered regularly for all men;
2 ratoum pouh hane hoi lunghawilawkdeinae ahmaloe na sak awh nahan kai ni na hroecoe.
for kings and all who are in authority, in order that we may lead a tranquil and peaceful life in all godliness an gravity.
3 Hottelah tinae teh maimae rungngangkung Cathut hmalah ngai kaawm e lah doeh ao.
For this is good and pleasing in the eyes of our Saviour God,
4 Tami pueng rungngang lah o vaiteh, lawkkatang panuenae koe pha sak hanelah Cathut ni a ngainae ao.
whose will it is that all men should be saved, and come into full knowledge of the truth.
5 Cathut teh buet touh dueng doeh kaawm. Cathut hoi taminaw rahak tami lah kaawm e Khrih Jisuh buet touh dueng doeh laicei lah kaawm.
For God is one; and one is mediator between God and man, the Man Christ Jesus,
6 Ahni ni tami pueng ratang hanelah a tak a pasoung toe. A tue a pha toteh a kamnue sak.
who gave himself as a ransom in behalf of all, to be attested in due time.
7 Kai teh kapâphokung lah thoseh, guncei lah thoseh, yuemnae hoi Khrih thung e lawkkatang hah Jentelnaw koe ka pâpho hane saya lahai thoseh, na ta toe. Hottelah ka dei nah laithoe ka dei hoeh, hmantang doeh ka dei.
It was for this testimony that I myself was appointed a herald and apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), to be a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
8 Tongpanaw ni hmuen tangkuem koe, lungkhueknae, kâounnae awm laipalah, kathounge kut dâw laihoi na ratoum awh nahanlah na ngaikhai awh.
My wish, then, is that in every place the men should offer prayer, lifting up holy hands, free from anger and disputation;
9 Hot patetvanlah, napuinaw ni samveinae, sui, pale, aphu kaawm e khohnanaw hoi kamthoup laipalah, mitkhet kamcu lah kamthoup awh nateh, lungdo lungnem lahoi kacuemkamui lah awm awh.
in like manner also the women. I desire women to clothe themselves in suitable apparel, adorning themselves with reverence and self- restraint; not with hair plaited with gold or pearls, or with expensive clothes,
10 Cathut ka barilawa e napuinaw ni a kamthoup hanelah ao e patetlah, kamcu e nuen hoi kamthoup awh na seh.
but (as becomes women proclaiming godliness) with the ornament of good deeds.
11 Napuinaw teh lawkngai laihoi lawkkamuem lah kamtu naseh.
Let a woman learn quietly in entire submission.
12 Napui teh tongpanaw lathueng cangkhainae hoi kâtawnnae ka poe hoeh. Napui teh lawkkamuem ao hanlah ao.
I allow no woman to teach, or to exercise authority over a man; but let her keep quiet.
13 Bangkongtetpawiteh, Adam hmaloe a sak hnukkhu Evi sak e lah ao.
It was Adam who was first formed, then Eve.
14 Hothloilah, Adam teh tacuek lah awm hoeh, Evi doeh tacuek lah kaawm niteh ka payon.
And it was not Adam who was deceived; but it was the woman who was thoroughly deceived, and who became involved in transgression.
15 Hateiteh, napuinaw teh, kacuemkamui lah onae, yuemnae, lungpatawnae, thoungnae dawk awm awh pawiteh, cakhenae dawk rungngang lah ao awh han.
Notwithstanding she will be saved by the Child-bearing; (so will they all), if they live in faith and love and holiness, with self- restraint.
