1 Hot patetlah Filistinnaw ni Isarelnaw hah a tuk awh teh, Isarelnaw teh Filistinnaw hmalah a yawng awh teh, Gilboa mon vah a thei awh.
Now the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.
2 Filistin taminaw ni Sawl hoi a capa hah poe a pâlei awh teh, Sawl capa Jonathan hoi Abinadab hoi Malkhishua hah a thei awh.
And the Philistines followed hard upon Saul and upon his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchi-shua, Saul’s sons.
3 Sawl hah pueng hoi rek a saueng awh teh, pala kapatuemnaw ni a ma hah rek a pha awh teh, hmâ puenghoi a ca sak awh.
And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him; and he was sore wounded of the archers.
4 Hot patetlah Sawl ni amae senehmaica ka sin koe, na tahloi hah rayu nateh, poukkayawng lah na thun leih. Hottelah na tet hoehpawiteh, vuensom ka a hoehnaw ni na pacekpahlek awh langvaih atipouh. Hatei, senehmaica ka sin e ni, thun ngai hoeh. Bangkongtetpawiteh, a taki poung. Hat torei teh, Sawl ni a tahloi hah a la teh a tabo sin.
Then said Saul unto his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through, and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword, and fell upon it.
5 Hahoi senehmaica ka sin e tami ni Sawl a due e hah a hmu toteh, ahni ni hai a tahloi a tabo sin van teh, cungtalah a due roi.
And when his armourbearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise upon his sword, and died with him.
6 Hot patetlah Sawl hoi a capa kathum touh hoi senehmaica ka sin e hoi a taminaw pueng hoi hot hnin roeroe vah a due awh.
So Saul died, and his three sons, and his armourbearer, and all his men, that same day together.
7 Ravo namran lah kaawm e Isarelnaw hoi Jordan namran lah kaawmnaw ni Isarelnaw a sung awh toe tie hoi Sawl hoi a capanaw a due awh toe tie a thai awh toteh, kho a tâco takhai awh teh a yawng awh. Hahoi Filistinnaw ni rek ao sin awh.
And when the men of Israel that [were] on the other side of the valley, and [they] that [were] on the other side Jordan, saw that the men of Israel fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.
8 Hahoi teh, Filistinnaw ni a thei awh nae tangtho vah, senehmaica ka sin e a cei sin awh navah, Sawl hoi a capa kathum touh Gilboa mon koe a due awh e hah a hmu awh.
And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his three sons fallen in mount Gilboa.
9 A lû a tâtueng pouh teh senehmaica a rading pouh awh. A kamthaw nah meikaphawk bawknae bawkim tangkuem hoi taminaw pueng koe pathang hanelah Filistin ram pueng dawk a pathang awh.
And they cut off his head, and stripped off his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to publish [it in] the house of their idols, and among the people.
10 Hote senehmaica teh, Ashtaroth im vah a ta awh. A ro teh Bethshan kalupnae tapang dawk a vo awh.
And they put his armour in the house of Ashtaroth: and they fastened his body to the wall of Beth-shan.
11 Jabesh Gilead vah kaawmnaw ni Filistinnaw ni Sawl ro dawk a sak awh e a hmu awh toteh,
And when the inhabitants of Jabesh-gilead heard of that which the Philistines had done to Saul;
12 Tami tarankahawi poung ni a thaw teh, karum khodai a cei awh teh, Bethshan kalupnae tapang dawk e Sawl hoi a capanaw ro hah a la awh. Jabesh a pha awh toteh, hawvah a pâeng awh.
All the valiant men arose, and went all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Beth-shan, and came to Jabesh, and burnt them there.
13 A hru hah a la awh teh, Jabesh e bengkeng thing rahim vah a pakawp awh teh hnin sari touh rawca a hai awh.
And they took their bones, and buried [them] under a tree at Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
