1 Samuel 23

And they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah, and are robbing the threshing-floors.
2 Kai ni hote Filistinnaw hah ka cei vaiteh ka tuk han namaw telah BAWIPA koe a pacei. BAWIPA ni, cet haw. Filistinnaw hah tuk nateh, Keilah khopui hah rungngang haw telah Devit koe a dei pouh.
Therefore David inquired of Jehovah, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And Jehovah said to David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.
3 Devit e taminaw nihai, maimouh ni Judah ram dawk patenghai taki awh toe. Keilah khopui cei awh vaiteh, Filistin tuk hane teh taki ka tho poung na bo aw telah a dei awh.
And David's men said to him, Behold, we are afraid here in Judah. How much more then if we go to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?
4 Devit ni BAWIPA koe bout a pacei teh, BAWIPA ni, cet awh nateh, Filistinnaw teh nange kut dawk na poe han telah atipouh.
Then David inquired of Jehovah yet again. And Jehovah answered him, and said, Arise, go down to Keilah, for I will deliver the Philistines into thy hand.
5 Devit hoi a taminaw teh, Keilah khopui koelah a cei awh teh, Filistinnaw hoi a kâtuk awh. Saringnaw a la pouh awh, ahnimanaw moikapap a thei awh. Hottelah Devit ni Keilah khopui hah a rungngang.
And David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and killed them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.
6 Ahimelek capa Abiathar teh, Devit aonae koe Keilah khopui koelah a yawng navah, Ephod a sin laihoi a tho.
And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand.

And it was told Saul that David came to Keilah. And Saul said, God has delivered him into my hand, for he is shut in by entering into a town that has gates and bars.
8 Keilah khopui tuk hanelah Devit hoi a taminaw kalup hanelah, amae taminaw pueng a kamkhueng sak.
And Saul summoned all the people to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.
9 Devit ni ka lathueng vah, Sawl ni hnokathout a sak tie hah a panue teh, vaihma Abiathar koevah Ephod hah hi thokhai haw atipouh.
And David knew that Saul was devising mischief against him, and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring here the ephod.
10 Devit ni Oe Isarel BAWIPA Cathut, Sawl ni kai kecu dawkvah, Keilah khopui raphoe hanelah a kâcai awh tie ka thai.
Then said David, O Jehovah, the God of Israel, thy servant has surely heard that Saul seeks to come to Keilah to destroy the city for my sake.
11 Keilah khocanaw ni kai hah a kut dawk na poe han na maw. Na san ni ka thai e patetlah Sawl teh a tho han namaw. Isarel miphun e BAWIPA Cathut, na san koe uren dei haw telah ka pacei navah, BAWIPA ni, a tho han doeh, telah ati pou.
Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? Will Saul come down as thy servant has heard? O Jehovah, the God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And Jehovah said, He will come down.

Then David said, Will the men of Keilah deliver up me and my men into the hand of Saul? And Jehovah said, They will deliver thee up.

Then David and his men, who were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went wherever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah, and he ceased to go forth.
14 Devit teh, Zeph monrui kahrawngum rapanimnaw dawkvah ao. Sawl ni hnintangkuem a tawng eiteh, Cathut ni a kut dawk Devit hah poe hoeh.
And David abode in the wilderness in the strongholds, and remained in the hill-country in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God did not deliver him into his hand.

And David saw that Saul came out to seek his life, and David was in the wilderness of Ziph in the forest.
16 Sawl capa Jonathan a tho teh, Devit aonae koe Horesh lah a cei teh, Cathut dawk tha a kâla nahanelah a kabawp.
And Jonathan, Saul's son, arose, and went to David into the forest, and strengthened his hand in God.
17 Na lungpuen hanh. Isarelnaw e siangpahrang lah na o vaiteh, kai teh nang kabawmkung lah ka o han tie hah Sawl ni a panue.
And he said to him, Fear not, for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee. And thou shall be king over Israel, and I shall be next to thee. And that, Saul my father also knows.
18 BAWIPA e hmalah lawk rei a kam roi. Devit teh kahrawng vah pou ao teh, Jonathan teh a ma im lah a ban.
And those two made a covenant before Jehovah. And David abode in the forest, and Jonathan went to his house.
19 Ziphnaw teh Sawl onae koe Gibeah kho lah a cei awh teh, Devit teh maimouh onae koe Jeshimon khopui akalah, Hakhilah monrui Horesh rapanim vah a kâhro.
Then the Ziphites came up to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Does not David hide himself with us in the strongholds in the forest, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of the desert?
20 Oe Siangpahrang na cei han na ngainae patetlah cet leih. Ahni hah nange kut dawk poe hane thaw teh kaimae thaw lah awm lawi seh atipouh.
Now therefore, O king, come down, according to all the desire of thy soul to come down, and our part shall be to deliver him up into the king's hand.

And Saul said, Blessed be ye of Jehovah, for ye have had compassion on me.
22 Atu cet awh nateh, kârakueng awh. Ahni a kâhronae hmuen hah thoseh, la a hmu awh e hai thoseh ripdawng awh. Ahni teh a lung hroung a ang tie ka thai.
Go, I pray you, make yet more sure, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who has seen him there, for it is told me that he deals very shrewdly.
23 Hatdawkvah, ahni a kâhronae a hmuennaw hah kamcengcalah na radoung awh hnukkhu, kai koe bout na tho awh pawiteh, nangmouh hoi rei ka cei han. Ahni teh hote ram dawk awm pawiteh, Judahnaw a thong moikapap dawk ka hmu roeroe han telah ati.
See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking-places where he hides himself, and come ye again to me of a certainty. And I will go with you, and it shall come to pass, if he is in the land, that I will search him out among all the thousands of Judah.
24 Hahoi a thaw awh teh Sawl a cei hoehnahlan Ziph lah a cei awh. Hatei Devit hoi a taminaw teh, Jeshimon akalae tanghling dawk Moan kahrawng vah ao awh.
And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul, but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the Arabah on the south of the desert.
25 Sawl teh a taminaw hoi rei a kamthaw awh teh, a tawng awh e hah Devit ni bout a thai toteh, talung rahak hoi a yawng teh, mon kahrawngum vah ao. Sawl ni bout a thai toteh, mon vah Devit bout a tawng.
And Saul and his men went to seek him. And they told David. Therefore he came down to the rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.
26 Sawl teh avanglae mon dawk thoseh, Devit hoi a taminaw teh avanglae mon dawk thoseh, a cei awh teh hlout hane a kâyawm awh navah, Sawl hoi a taminaw ni Devit hoi a taminaw man hanelah a kalup awh.
And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain. And David made haste to get away for fear of Saul. For Saul and his men encompassed David and his men round about to take them.
27 Hatnavah patoune a tho teh, Sawl koe karanglah tho leih, Filistinnaw ni ram hah a tuk awh toe telah a dei awh dawkvah,
But there came a messenger to Saul, saying, Hasten thee, and come, for the Philistines have made a raid upon the land.
28 Devit pâleinae koehoi a ban teh, Filistin taminaw tuk hanelah a cei. Hatdawkvah, hote hmuen hah Selahhammahlekoth, kânguenae lungsong ati awh.
So Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines. Therefore they called that place Sela-hammahlekoth.
29 Devit teh hote hmuen koehoi a cei teh, Engedi ram rapanim vah ao.
And David went up from there, and dwelt in the strongholds of En-gedi.
