< 1 Piter 2 >
1 Nangmouh teh Bawipa Cathut e lungmanae na patek toung dawkvah,
So then, laying aside all malignity—even all deceit and play-actings and envies, yes all malicious speaking—
2 Utsinnae cawngca, dumyennae, tami kahawi lah kâsaknae, kâhmuhmanae, kâpathoenae pueng pahnawt awh nateh, rungngang nahanelah muitha sanutui katang hoi roung hanelah,
crave the pure spiritual ‘milk’, like newborn babies do, so that by it you may grow into salvation,
3 camosen patetlah hote sanutui hah ngainae hoi kahran awh haw.
if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is benevolent.
4 Taminaw ni a pahnawt awh teh Cathut ni a rawi e hringnae talung tie hote Bawipa koe pha teh,
Coming to Him, a living stone—rejected indeed by men but chosen by God, precious—
5 kahring e talungnaw patetlah patuenpatuen pacoung teh sak e muitha koe lae im lah o awh. Jisuh Khrih lahoi Cathut ni a ngai e thuengnae ka sak hane kathounge vaihma miphun lah o awh.
you also, as living stones, are being built into a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
6 Cakathoung dawk a thut e patetlah rawi e im takinlung aphu kaawm e hah Zion mon dawk ka ta. Hote talung ka kâuep e naw pueng teh kayanae tawn mahoeh telah ati.
That is why the Scripture contains: “Attention, I am laying in Zion a chief cornerstone, chosen, precious, and the one who rests his trust upon Him will absolutely not be humiliated.”
7 Hatdawkvah hote talung teh kayuemnaw hanelah a lentoenae lah ao. Kayuemhoehnaw hanelah teh im kasaknaw ni a pahnawt a eiteh im tungkhu takin koe ka phat e talung lah ao.
So then, this recompense is for you who believe, but to those who disobey, “the stone that the builders rejected is just the one that became the chief cornerstone,”
8 A lawk kangâihoehnaw hanelah teh hote talung teh tâlawnae talung hoi payonnae lungsong lah ao. Hottelah ao nahanelah ahnimouh teh a rawi e lah ao.
also “a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense”; being disobedient to the Word, they stumble, to which, indeed, they were appointed.
9 Nangmouh teh a hmonae koehoi kângairu angnae dawk na kakawkung Amae pholennae kamnue sak hanelah rawi e miphun lah na o awh. Siangpahrang vaihma miphun, kathounge miphun, Cathut e miphun katang lah na o awh.
But you are a chosen family, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a private-property people, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
10 Yampa vah nangmouh teh Cathut e miphun lah na awm awh hoeh. Atuteh Cathut e miphun lah na o awh. Yampa vah a lungmanae na coe awh hoeh eiteh atuteh na coe awh toe.
who formerly were not a people but now are God's people, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
Dear ones, I urge you to abstain from the lusts of the flesh, that war against the soul,
12 Jentelnaw e rahak vah khet kamcu lah khosak awh. Hottelah kho na sak awh pawiteh ahnimouh ni nangmouh teh yon ka sak e tami lah na dei nakunghai nangmae hnokahawi na sak e naw a hmu toteh, Cathut hmalah Bawipa e bawilennae teh a pholen awh han.
keeping your way of life among the nations praiseworthy (you being foreigners and sojourners), so that wherein they speak against you as evildoers, in spite of the praiseworthy deeds they have observed, they may glorify God in the day of visitation.
13 Bawipa e minhmai khet laihoi ka lentoe poung e siangpahrang nakunghai thoseh, tami kahawi oup hanelah thoseh,
Therefore subordinate yourselves to every human institution because of the Lord, whether to a king, as being in authority,
14 Siangpahrang ni a rawi e kâ katawnnaw thoseh, taminaw koe khokhangkung bawinaw e hrawinae lawk ngâi awh.
or to governors, as being sent by him, both for punishment of evildoers and for praise of good-doers.
Because such is the will of God, to silence the ignorance of foolish people by doing good:
16 Tami kahloutnaw patetlah hring awh. Hatei hote hloutnae hah kahawihoeh sak nahanelah hno laipalah Cathut e a san patetlah kâroe awh.
as free (not using the freedom as a cover for evil), yet as slaves of God.
17 Tami pueng hah bari awh. Hmaunawngha hah lungpataw awh. Cathut hah taket awh. Siangpahrang hah bari awh.
Respect everyone; love the brotherhood; fear God; honor the king.
18 Sannaw, takinae lahoi na Bawipa e hrawinae ngai awh. Bawi teh lungthin kahawi hoi lungdonae ka tawn nakunghai thoseh, a lungthin ka muenyang e hai thoseh, a lawk ngâi pouh awh.
Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unscrupulous.
For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God someone endures grief, suffering unjustly.
20 Ma e yon kecu dawk hemnae khang boipawiteh bangmaw oup hane kawi kaawm.
For what credit is it if upon sinning and being beaten you endure patiently? But if upon doing good and suffering you endure patiently, this is commendable before God.
21 Bangkongtetpawiteh, hot patetlah hane doeh nangmouh teh kaw lah na o awh teh, Khrih ni mamouh hanelah a khang teh, a khokhnuk dawn vaiteh khetsin hane kawi mitnoutnae na ta pouh toe.
Now you have been called to this, really, because Christ also suffered in our behalf, leaving you an example that you should follow in His footsteps:
22 Hote Bawipa teh yonnae sak hoeh, apâhni dawk hai laithoe awmhoeh.
who did not commit sin, neither was deceit found in His mouth;
23 Pathoenae a khang navah, bout pathung hoeh. Rucatnae a khang na haiyah pakhi laipalah, kalan lah lawkcengkung koe amahoima a kâhnawng toe.
who being reviled did not revile in return, suffering did not threaten but committed it to Him who judges righteously;
24 Maimouh teh yon hoi ka kâkuen e naw koe lah due awh teh lannae koelah na hring sak hanelah maimae yonnae hah ama roeroe ni a tak thung thing dawk a sin toe. A hemnae hmâtannaw dawk hoi nangmouh teh na dam awh toe.
who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, so that we, having died to those sins, might live for the righteousness; by whose wound you were healed.
Yes, you were like straying sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of our souls.
