Then did all Israel gather themselves together to David, unto Hebron, saying, —Lo! thy bone and thy flesh, are we.

2 Hnuk lae atueng dawk Sawl a bawi nah haiyah, Isarelnaw ka tâcawtkhai e hoi kâenkhai e lah na o. BAWIPA Cathut ni nang koevah, ka tami Isarel tukhoumkung lah na o vaiteh, kahrawikung lah na o han ati telah atipouh awh.

Moreover also, in time past even when Saul was king, thou, wast he that led out and brought in Israel, —and Yahweh thy God said unto thee, Thou, shalt shepherd my people Israel, Yea, thou, shalt be chief ruler, over my people Israel.

3 Hatdawkvah, Isarel kacuenaw pueng teh Hebron kho siangpahrang koe a tho awh teh, Devit ni Hebron kho BAWIPA e hmalah, ahnimouh hoi lawkkamnae a sak. Samuel hno lahoi BAWIPA e lawk patetlah Isarel siangpahrang hanelah Devit teh satui a awi awh.

Thus came all the elders of Israel unto the king, to Hebron, and David solemnised to them a covenant in Hebron, before Yahweh, —and they anointed David to be king over Israel, according to the word of Yahweh, through Samuel.

4 Devit hoi Isarelnaw pueng teh Jubusitnaw khosaknae Jerusalem lah a cei awh. Jerusalem teh Jebusitnaw khosaknae doeh.

Then went David and all Israel to Jerusalem, the same, was Jebus, —where were the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land.

5 Jebusit kho kaawmnaw ni Devit hi vah khoeroe kâen hanh, telah atipouh awh. Hateiteh, Devit ni Zion rapanim a lawp pouh teh Devit khopui tie lah ao.

And the inhabitants of Jebus said unto David, Thou shalt not come in hither, —But David captured the citadel of Zion, the same, is the city of David.

6 Devit ni Jubusitnaw hmaloe ka tuk e teh, ransabawi hoi kahrawikung lah ao han telah ati. Hatdawkvah, Zeruiah capa Joab teh hmaloe poung lah a cei teh kahrawikung kacue lah a sak.

And David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites, first, shall become a chief, and a ruler, —So then Joab son of Zeruiah, went up first, and became a chief.

And David dwelt in the citadel, —for this cause, did they call it, The City of David.

And he built the city round about, from Millo even as far as the circuit, —but, Joab, suffered the remainder of the city to live.

Thus did David wax greater and yet greater, —and, Yahweh of Hosts, was with him.

Now, these, are the chiefs of the heroes, that pertained to David, who held strongly with him in his kingdom, with all Israel, to make him king, —according to the word of Yahweh, concerning Israel.

And, this, is the number of the heroes who pertained to David, —Jashobeam son of a Hachmonite, chief of the thirty, the same, brandished his spear over three hundred—slain at one time.

12 Ahni hnukkhu hoi Aho tami Dodo e capa Eleazar tami athakaawme taminaw 3 touh dawkvah, buet touh lah ao.

And, after him, was Eleazar son of Dodai, the Ahohite, —he, was among the three heroes;

13 Ahni teh Pasdammim e hmuen Devit koevah ao. Hawvah Filistinnaw teh, tarantuk hanelah a kamkhueng awh teh, hawvah catun hoi kakawi e tanghling ao. Taminaw pueng teh Filistinnaw e hmalah a yawng awh.

he, was with David in Pas-dammim, where, the Philistines, were gathered together to battle, and there was a field-plot full of barley, —and, the people, fled, from before the Philistines;

14 Hatei, ahnimouh teh, law lungui hmuen a la teh Filistinnaw a thei awh. Hottelah BAWIPA ni kalentoenaw, tânae a kamnue sak.

so they took their stand in the midst of the plot and rescued it, and smote the Philistines, —and Yahweh wrought a great victory.

15 Ransa 30 touh thung dawk e tami a thakasai e tami 3 touh teh Adullam lungngoum, Devit onae lungsong koe a cathuk awh.

And three of the thirty chiefs went down upon the rock, unto David, into the cave of Adullam, —a host of Philistines, being encamped in the vale of Rephaim.

16 Hatdawkvah, Devit teh rapanim thungup ao. Filistin ransanaw teh Bethlehem vah ao awh.

Now, David, then was in the stronghold, —and, a garrison of Philistines, then was in Bethlehem.

17 Devit ni a rabuipoung teh, Bethlehem tuikhu dawk e tui, rapan longkha teng e hah ka nei hanelah na ka poe thai e awm pawiteh, ka ngaipoung eite telah a ti.

And David longed, and said—Who will give me to drink of the water, out of the well of Bethlehem, that is within the gate?

18 Ransa kathum touh ni Filistin ransanaw a roenae hah pat a rakan awh teh, rapan longkha teng e Bethlehem tuikhu dawk e tui hah a do awh teh, Devit koevah a thokhai awh. Hateiteh, Devit ni net ngai hoeh. BAWIPA hanelah a rabawk.

And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was within the gate, and bare it, and brought it in unto David, —yet would not David drink it, but poured it out unto Yahweh;

and said—Far be it from me, of my God, that I should do this! The blood of these men, shall I drink, with their lives? For, with their lives, have they brought it! So he would not drink it. These things, did the three heroes.

And, Abishai brother of Joab—he, was the chief of three, he, having brandished his spear against three hundred—who were slain, —and so, he, had a name among three.

21 Tami kathum touh thung dawk ahni teh kahni touh hlak oup hanelah ao. Hatdawkvah kacuepoung lah ao. Hateiteh, hmaloe e kathum touh dawkvah bawk hoeh.

Of the three in the second rank, was he honourable, therefore became he their captain, —though, unto the [first] three, did he not attain.

22 Jehoiada e capa Benaiah teh, Kabzeel kho e tami thakaawme capa hno moikapap ka sak e lah ao. Ahni ni sendek patetlah athakaawme Moab tami tarankahawi e kahni touh a thei. Hahoi bout a cei teh, tadamtui a bo nah a khu dawk kaawm e sendek buet touh bout a thei.

Benaiah, son of Jehoiada, son of a man of valour, hero of many a deed, from Kabziel—he, smote the two [sons] of Ariel of Moab, he, also went down and smote a lion in the midst of a pit, in time of snow;

he, also smote an Egyptian, a man of [great] stature, five cubits, and, in the hand of the Egyptian, was a spear like a weaver’s beam, so he went down unto him with a staff, —and wrested the spear out of the hand of the Egyptian, and slew him with his spear.

These things, did Benaiah son of Jehoiada, so, he, had a name among three heroes.

Among the thirty, lo! honourable, was he, but, unto the [first] three, did he not attain, —howbeit David set him over his council.

26 Athakaawme ransanaw teh: Joab e hmaunawngha Asahel, Bethlehem kho e tami Dodo e capa Elhanan tinaw doeh.

Now, the heroes of the forces, were, —Asahel, brother of Joab, Elhanan, son of Dodo, of Bethlehem;

27 Harorite tami Shammoth, Pelonit tami Helez.

Shammoth, the Harorite, Helez the Paltite;

28 Tekoa tami Ikkesh capa Ira, Anathoth tami Abiezer.

Ira, son of Ikkesh, the Tekoite, Abiezer, the Anathothite;

29 Hushath tami Sibbekhai hoi Ahoh tami Ilai.

Sibbecai, the Hushathite, Ilai, the Ahohite;

30 Netophah tami Maharai hoi Netophah tami Baanah capa Heled.

Maharai, the Netophathite, Heled, son of Baanah, the Netophathite;

31 Benjamin casak Gibeah tami Ribai capa Ittai. Pirathon tami Benaiah.

Ithai, son of Ribai, of Gibeah, of the sons of Benjamin, —Benaiah, the Pirathonite;

32 Gaash yawn e Hurai hoi Arbath tami Abiel.

Hurai, of the torrents of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite;

33 Baharum tami Azmaveth hoi Shaalbim tami Eliahba.

Azmaveth, the Baharumite, Eliahba, the Shaalbonite;

34 Gizon tami Hashem casaknaw dawkvah Hararite tami Shagee capa Jonathan.

the sons of Hashem, the Gizonite, Jonathan, son of Shageh, the Hararite;

35 Hararite tami Sakar capa Ahiam, Ur capa Eliphal.

Ahiam, son of Sacar, the Hararite, Eliphal, son of Ur;

36 Mekerath tami Hepher hoi Pelonit tami Ahijah.

Hepher, the Mecherathite, Ahijah the Pelonite;

37 Karmel tami Hezro hoi Ezbai capa Naari.

Hezro, the Carmelite, Naarai, son of Ezbai;

38 Nathan e hmaunawngha Joel hoi Hagri capa Mibhar.

Joel, brother of Nathan, Mibhar son of Hagri;

39 Ammon tami Zelek hoi Zeruiah capa Joab senehmaica ka sin pouh e Beeroth tami Naharai.

Zelek, the Ammonite, —Naharai, the Berothite, the armour-bearer of Joab son of Zeruiah;

40 Ithrite tami Ira hoi Ithrite tami Gareb.

Ira, the Ithrite, Gareb, the Ithrite;

41 Hit tami Uriah hoi Ahlai capa Zabad.

Uriah, the Hittite, Zabad son of Ahlai;

42 Reuben tami Shiza capa Adina hoi ama koe kaawm e tami 30 touh kahrawikung lah ao.

Adina, son of Shiza, the Reubenite, a chief of the Reubenites and over the thirty;

43 Maakah capa Hanan hoi Mithini tami Joshaphat.

Hanan, son of Maacah, and Joshaphat, the Mithnite;

44 Ashtrarity tami Uzzia, Shamma, Jeuel hoi Jeiel. Aroerite tami Hotham casaknaw.

Uzzia, the Ashterathite, —Shama, and Jeiel, sons of Hotham, the Aroerite;

45 Shimri capa Jediael hoi a nawngha Tizit tami Joha.

Jediael, son of Shimri, and Joha, his brother, the Tizite;

46 Mahavit tami Eliel, Jeribai, Elnaam casak Joshavi, Moab tami Ithmah.

Eliel, the Mahavite, and Jeribai and Joshaviah, sons of Elnaam, —and Ithmah the Moabite;

47 Eliel, Obed hoi Mezobah tami Jaasiel.
