Now the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain on Mount Gilboa.
2 Filistinnaw ni Sawl hoi a capa hah, phat a pâlei awh teh, Sawl capa Jonathan, Abinadab, Malkhishua hah a thei awh.
The Philistines followed hard after Saul and after his sons; and the Philistines killed Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malkishua, the sons of Saul.
3 Sawl teh a tarannaw ni rek a pâlei awh teh, licung ka kathoum e ni pala hoi a ka awh teh hmâ a ca sak awh.
The battle grew fierce against Saul, and the archers overtook him; and he was wounded by the archers.

Then said Saul to his armor bearer, "Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it, lest these uncircumcised come and torture me." But his armor bearer would not, for he was greatly afraid. Therefore Saul took his sword, and fell on it.
5 Senehmaica ka patuem e ni Sawl a due toe tie hah, a hmu torei teh, ahni hai amahoima tahloi hoi a kâthei van.
When his armor bearer saw that Saul was dead, he likewise fell on his sword, and died.
6 Sawl hoi a capanaw kathum touh a due awh.
So Saul died, and his three sons; and all his house died together.
7 Tanghling dawk kaawm e Isarelnaw pueng teh, a yawng awh. Sawl hoi a capanaw a due toe tie a thai awh torei teh, kho a tâco takhai awh teh, a yawng awh. Hot dawkvah Filistinnaw ni ao na awh.
When all the men of Israel who were in the valley saw that they fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook their cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and lived in them.
8 A tangtho vah Filistinnaw ni a thei awh e naw dawk, senehmaica hah la hanelah a cei awh navah, Gilboa mon dawk Sawl hoi a capanaw kadout e hah a hmu awh.
It happened on the next day, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.
9 Senehmaica hah a rading awh teh, a lû hoi senehmaicanaw hah meikaphawk imnaw hoi a taminaw e meikaphawknaw koe pathang hanelah kamthang a pathang awh.
They stripped him, and took his head, and his armor, and sent into the land of the Philistines all around, to carry the news to their idols, and to the people.
10 A senehmaica teh amamae cathut im dawk a hruek awh teh, a lû teh dagon im dawk a vo awh.
They put his armor in the house of their gods, and fastened his head in the house of Dagon.
11 Sawl dawk Filistinnaw ni a sak e naw hah Jabesh Gilead kaawmnaw pueng ni a thai awh torei teh,
When all the inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul,

all the valiant men arose, and took away the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh, and buried their bones under the oak in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
13 BAWIPA taranlahoi a sak e, yuemkamcu lah ao hoeh kecu dawk Sawl teh a due. Bangkongtetpawiteh, BAWIPA e lawk hah tarawi laipalah, khueyuenu koe pouknae a hei.
So Saul died for his trespass which he committed against the LORD, because of the word of the LORD, which he did not keep; and also because he asked counsel of one who had a familiar spirit, to inquire thereby,
14 Hateiteh, BAWIPA koe teh pouknae a hei hoeh dawkvah, ahni hah a due sak teh, a uknaeram hah Jesi capa Devit koe a poe pouh.
and did not inquire of the LORD: therefore he killed him, and turned the kingdom to David the son of Jesse.
