< Rome 4 >
1 Mihem lam dol a sei dingin Abraham chu Juda mite tahsan phutdohpa ahi. Pathen toh kilungto theina dinga ipi ahinbol doh em?
WHAT then shall we say that Abraham our father hath obtained by the flesh?
2 Athilpha bol chun Pathen santhei asodoh sah a ahileh, aman kisonpi ding ananei ding ahitai. Hinla, hichu Pathen lama dingin ahitheipoi.
For if Abraham was justified by works, he hath cause for glorying; though not before God.
3 Ajeh chu Pathen thubun, “Abraham'in Pathen atahsan'in, chule hiche atahsanna jeh chun Pathen in michonphan asimtai!” tin eiseipeh uve.
For what doth the scripture say? Abraham truly believed God, and it was imputed to him for righteousness.
4 Mihon na atoh tenguleh anatoh man'u chu thilpeh akitipoi, amahon akilodoh-u ahijoi.
Now to him that worketh, the reward is not brought to account as a favour, but as a debt.
5 Hinlah miho michonphaa kisim ho chu, anatoh jal'u hilouvin, michonse ho ngaidampa Pathen atahsan jal'u ahibouve.
But to him who doth not work, but believeth in him who justifieth the ungodly, his faith is reckoned in account for righteousness.
6 David'in jong michonpha tia kiphongdoh ho chu natoh jal jeh ahilou thudol ana seijin ahi.
As David also describeth the blessedness of that man, to whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
7 “O seingailou ahinauva kingaidama, achonset-u mukit loudia kisuhbeipeh ho chu iti kipa um hitam!
“Blessed are they whose unrighteousnesses are forgiven, and whose sins are covered up.
8 Ahinai, achungchang thu'u Pakaiyin achonsetnau jih lutsa akoi noimang peh'a um michu iti kipa um hitam!” ati.
Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will in nowise impute sin.”
9 Tua hi Judah mite dinga bou phatthei channa ham? Ahilouleh chidang namdang cheptanlou ho dinga jong hiya ham? Ahinai, eihon jong Abraham chu atahsan jal'a Pathen'in themchang a anakoi ahitai, ti inasei jiuvin ahi.
This blessedness then, is it for the circumcision, or for the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was imputed to Abraham for righteousness.
10 Ahin, hichu iti hung hithei'ah ahidem? Ama chep kitan jouva bou themchang hiya ham? Ahilouleh cheptan masang joh ham? Chentah a seiding in, Abraham chu Pathen in cheptan masanga analah ahitai.
How then was it imputed to him? when circumcised, or while uncircumcised? Not when circumcised, but whilst uncircumcised.
11 Cheptan hi Abraham'in tahsan aneiye ti amelchihna ahi. Chule Pathen in ama chu michonpha tia asan'a chule aphondohna chu cheptan masangpeh ahitai. Hijeh'a hi, Abraham hi cheptanlou atahsanho dinga apau ahi. Atahsan nau jeh a chu amaho michonpha tia kisima ahitauve.
And he received the sign of circumcision, as a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had when uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all those who believe, though uncircumcised; that to them also the righteousness might be imputed:
12 Chule Abraham hi cheptan ho dinga jong lhagaova apau ahi. Hinla hiche hi Abraham cheptan masanga tahsan anei tobanga tahsan neihoa ding bou ahi.
and the father of circumcision, not to those who are of the circumcision merely, but who also tread in the steps of the faith of our father Abraham, which he exercised while uncircumcised.
13 Tahbeh mongin, Pathen in vannoi pumpi hi Abraham le achilhahte apeh ahin, hichu Pathen Danthu ajui jeh-u ahipon, chusanga tahsan jal'a kijopmatna phatah anei jaljoh ahi.
For not by the law came the promise to Abraham and his seed, that he should be heir of the world, but by the righteousness of faith.
14 Pathen Thutep hi danthu juihoa dinga bou hitaleh, tahsan ngaitalou ding ahi. Chule thutep hi ajeh bei hiding ahitai.
For if they who are of the law are heirs, faith becomes vain, and the promise is useless:
15 Ajeh chu Danthu hin athupeh ho jui dinga gimbolna jengbou ahin lhut ding ahi (Dan suhkeh louna dingin lampi khat bou aum'in, hichu Dan neitah lou ding chu ahije).
for the law causeth wrath: for where there is no law, neither is there transgression.
16 Chutia chu, thutep hi tahsan jal'a kimu'ah ahin, manbei thilpeh-akipea chu ahi. Abraham tahsan tobang inei uva ahileh Mose Dan ijuiyu hihen, ijuilouvu hijongleh eihon ibon'uva imu teidiu ahi. Ajeh chu Abraham chu atahsan jousea dinga pa ahi.
Therefore it is by faith, that it might be of grace; in order that the promise might be secured to all the seed; not only to that which is of the law, but to that which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
17 Hiche hi ahi Pathen Lekhabun asei, “Keiman nangma namtin mipa a kasem nahitai” tia Pathen in ajah a anasei chu. Hiche ahitheina chu Abraham'in Pathen atahsan'a athisa hinsahkitna chule imacha louva kona thil thah asemdoh thei tahsan na jeh ahi.
(as it is written “that I have constituted thee father of many nations,”) before God, in whom he trusted, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth things that are not as if existing.
18 Kinepna ding umlouna jenga jong Abraham chu akinem jingin, ama namtin dinga Pa ahung hiding tahsanna aneiyin ahi. Ajehchu Pathen in ajah a, “Chutia a chu son le chilhah tampi nahin neiding ahi,” atipeh ahi.
Who contrary to hope, in hope believed, that he should be the father of many nations, according to what was said, “So shall thy seed be.”
19 Chule Abraham chu kum 100 nailam ahi jengin jong hitia atahsa chu athi tobang ahitah vang'in, chule Sarah naobu jong chu avoitah vang'in, atahsan chu adai lhadehpon ahi.
And not being weak in faith, he regarded not his own body now deadened, being about an hundred years old, nor the deadness of Sarah’s womb:
20 Abraham chun Pathen thutep longlouvin atahsan'in ahi. Tahbeh in atahsanna chu ahatcheh in chule hichea chun Pathen loupina apen ahi.
for he disputed not against the promise of God with unbelief; but was mighty in faith, giving glory to God;
21 Pathen chun akitepna ipi hijongleh aboldoh ding ahi ti hetchetna kicheh aneiye.
and enjoyed the fullest assurance, that what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
22 Chule Abraham chu atahsan jal'a Pathen'in michonpha tia asem ahitai.
And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
23 Chutia Pathen in ama michonphaa asem chu Abraham dinga bou phachoma ahipoi. Eiho phatchompi dinga jong kijih a ahi.
Now it was not written for his sake only, that it was imputed to him;
24 I-Pakaiyu Yeshua thinaa kona kaithoupa chu itahsan uva ahileh Pathen in eiho jong michonpha'a eisem dingu ahi, ti hetchetna eipeuve.
but also for our sakes, to whom it will be imputed, if we believe in him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
25 Ichonset jeh uva Ama chu thi dinga pehdoh a uma ahin, chule hinna a Ama kaithouva aum hin Pathen to eisuhcham'u ahitai.
who was delivered up for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
