< La Bu 49 >
1 Nangho mipite'n hichehi ngaijuvin! Nangho vannoi mite jouse'n ngaicheh uvin!
For the leader. Of the Korahites. A psalm. Hear this, you peoples all; attend, all you who live in the world
2 Milen le mineo, ahao avai in ngaisoh keijun!
people of low degree and high, the rich and the poor together.
3 Ajeh chu kathuseiho hi chihna thu ahin, chuleh kalung'a kagel jong hi hetgilna dimset ahi.
My mouth shall utter wisdom, the thoughts of a seeing heart.
4 Keiman thuchih kaseiho chu giltah'in kagel'in hiti chun semjang sai a kitilkhou in thulem kaseiho suhlhap na kanei jie.
I incline my ear to a proverb, on the lyre I will open my riddle.
5 Kagalmite'n eihin umkimvel'uva boinan eihin lhunkhum teng idia kakichat ding ham?
Why should I be afraid in the days of misfortune, when circled by wicked and cunning foes,
6 Amahon anei agouhou atahsan un ahaotheinau a akiletsah ui.
who put their trust in their wealth, and boast of their boundless riches?
7 Ahijeng vang'in athina diuva kon'in amaho le amaho akihuhdoh joupouvin Elohim Pathen henga sum in ahinkhou akichoh thei pouve.
For assuredly no one can ransom themselves, or give to God the price of their life,
8 Lhatdamna kitihi bailam tah a um ahipoi, ajeh chu koiman alhingset'in apejou poi;
for the ransom of a life is costly, no payment is ever enough,
9 tonsot'a hingjing a lhanmun'a chelou hel nading chu.
to keep them alive for ever and ever, so as never to see the pit at all.
10 Michingho chu nikhat thitei diu ahi, hiche mingol le lungel neilou ho banga anei agouhou chu adalhah cheh di'u ahi.
But see it they will. Even wise people die, the fool and the brutish perish alike, and abandon their wealth to others.
11 Lhanmol chu atonsot inn'u ahitan achen jingna di'u mun chu ahitai. Anei agouho'u chu amaho min putsah jong leu.
The grave is their everlasting home, the place they shall live in for ever and ever, though after their own names they called whole lands.
12 Aminthan nao chu sotlou ding ganhing ho bang'a thithou thou diu ahi.
Despite their wealth, they perish like dumb animals.
13 Amaho hi min miching dan'in geljong leu mingol bang'a thina ato thou thou di'u ahi.
This is the fate of the confident fool, and the end of those who are pleased with their portion. (Selah)
14 Kelngoiho bang'a lhanmun lhung thou thou di'u thina chu akelngoi chingpa'u hiding, anei agouhou a kon'a gamlatah'a lhanmun khat'a monlha thou thou diu ahi. (Sheol )
Like sheep they descend to Sheol with Death for their shepherd; down they go straight to the grave, and their form wastes away in their home below. (Sheol )
15 Ahin keivang Elohim Pathen'in kahinkho eilhatdoh peh'in tin, Aman lhanmun'a kon'in eihuhdoh nante. (Sheol )
But God will assuredly ransom my life from the hand of Sheol; for he will receive me. (Selah) (Sheol )
16 Hijeh chun migilou ho ahung hao uva, a in chen ujong ahung hoibe cheh tengu le lunglhadah hih in.
So be not afraid when someone grows rich, when the wealth of their house increases.
17 Ajeh chu amaho athiteng uleh imacha akipoh di'u aumpoi anei agou'un lhan sung'ah juilut thei pouvinte.
Not a shred of it all can they take when they die, wealth cannot follow them down.
18 Hiche lei hinkho'a hin alolhin jeh'un vangpha le ochat um'in kigel jong leu,
Though they count themselves happy, when they are alive, and win praise from many for faring so well,
19 Chemasa ho bang bang'a thidiu khovah amukit louhel di'u ahitai.
they must join their ancestors, who see the light nevermore.
20 Anei agou'u kiletsahpi ho chun amaho jong ganhing bang'a phat khatleh thithou thou diu ahilam akihetdoh lou'u ahi.
The wealthy are without understanding, they perish like dumb animals.
