1 Mingol thu motsei seipa sang in, hinkho mandan them' a vaichat aphajoi.
Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than one of perverse lips, who is a fool.
2 Mihem khat hetna beija hin hi apha pon, kin le donga chena lampi anoh phah thei-jin ahi.
Also in the want of knowledge in the soul there is nothing good; and he that hasteneth with his feet misseth the right path.
3 Mingol chu manthah nan apui mang teng, Yahweh Pakai mo achansah kit-jin ahi.
The folly of a man perverteth his way, and against the Lord will his heart rage.
4 Mihao ding in gol le pai thah thah asem jin, mivaichapa vang chu agol apai in jong adalha laloi jie.
Wealth bringeth many friends; but the poor becometh separated from his [only] friend.
5 Hettosah' a pang jou le nal seipa chun, engbolna ato tei ding ahi.
A false witness shall not remain unpunished, and he that uttereth lies shall not escape.
6 Mihem ahongphal chun ahin-khohsah thei mi tampi anei ding, jou le nal' a thuseipa vang ong-doh lou ding ahi.
Many will entreat the favor of the liberal man; and every one is the friend to him that bestoweth gifts.
7 Mivaicha hi asopi ho jeng in jong athet bol jiuvin, achuti leh agol apaiho chun ichan geijin athet tadiu vem? Vaichapan asam sam in hinlah adalha-ji tauve.
All the brothers of the poor hate him: how much more do his friends go far away from him! he pursueth [their] promises; but these are [all] that he hath.
8 Chihna kimupa chun hinkho manlut dan ahet ahin, thil hethem mi chu machal tei ding ahi.
He that getteth intelligence loveth his own soul: he that guardeth understanding will find happiness.
9 Hettohsah jou le nal seija pang pan, engbolna ato tei ding, koi hileh thujou seichan chun thina apeldoh lou ding ahi.
A false witness shall not remain unpunished, and he that uttereth lies shall perish.
10 Mingol khat' in nomsatah' a hinkho aman ding adih thei pon, soh khat dinga milen milal chunga vaihompa hi ding jong dih thei him him lou ahi.
Delicacy is not seemly for a fool: much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
11 Lungput dihtah kiti hin, mi lunghanna asosah jipon, min ahilou lam' a abolna donse lou chu ama dia loupina ahi.
It is intelligence in man to be slow in his anger, and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
12 Lengpa lunghanna hi keipi ngih tobang ahin, alunglhaina vang hamhing lah daitwi in achap tobang ahi.
Like the roaring of a young lion is the wrath of a king: as dew upon the herbs is his favor.
13 Chapa ngol hi apa dinga hamsetna ahin, numei ajipa toh kicham thei lou chu, gotwi julha tobang ahi.
A calamity unto his father is a foolish son; and a continual dropping are the quarrels of a wife.
14 Nei le gou kiti hi pute patea kon kilo son-ji ahin, numei chingtah jia kimu hi Yahweh Pakaija kon ahi.
House and wealth are an inheritance from fathers; but from the Lord [cometh] an intelligent wife.
15 Thasetna hin mi alhim i-mujin, Koi hileh athase chan chun kel athoh ding ahi.
Slothfulness casteth [man] into a deep sleep; and an indolent soul will suffer hunger.
16 Thupeh nit chan kihinso tei ding, amavang thu kisei ija-sep lou chu thina ato ding ahi.
He that observeth the commandment guardeth his own soul: but he that disregardeth [directing] his ways [aright] shall die.
17 Mivaicha kithopi chun Yahweh Pakai akithopi ahin, ajeh chu Yahweh Pakai in atohman alethuh tei ding ahi.
He lendeth unto the Lord that is liberal to the poor, and his good deed will he repay unto him.
18 Semphat thei le kinepna aum pat hin, na chapa phohsal jeng in, moh manthah sah ding vang gel hih hel in.
Chastise thy son, for there is hope; and let not thy soul spare [him] for his crying.
19 Milung chom chun gimna ato tei ding ahin, dalha jeng tan, ajeh chu nangma chunga jong gimna lhun lo ding ahi.
A man of great fury must suffer punishment; for if thou deliver him, thou must still do it again.
20 Min nahilna le nathumopna ngaiphan lang asanji them in, ajeh chu khonung teng chihna nanei theina ding ahi.
Hear counsel, and accept correction, in order that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
21 Nangman tohgon ijat nei jong lechun, Yahweh Pakai lungdei banga nagon ding bou athupin ahi.
There are many thoughts in a man's heart; but the counsel of the Lord alone will stand firm.
22 Mihem akon kitahna hi deisah pipen ahin, lungput dihlou sang in vaichat aphajon ahi.
The longing of a man is [to exercise] his kindness; and a poor man is better than a liar.
23 Yahweh Pakai gin hi kihin sona ahin, chule Yahweh Pakai gingmi chu alungkim jin, ama chu hamset nan alhun den lou hel ding ahi.
The fear of the Lord leadeth unto life: and he [that hath it] shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
24 Mithase hon bukong asoh jiuvin, chule akamsung uva het ding jong angapcha jipouve.
When a slothful man hath hidden his hand in the dish, then will he not even bring it back to his mouth.
25 Mitot chavei ho chu gotna pi-lechun, chihna' a min anei thei ding; thil hethem mi chu gihsal le chun ahetna kibelap ding ahi.
Smite a scorner, and the simple will become prudent; and if one that hath understanding be admonished, he will understand knowledge.
26 Apa pumthoa del le anu del mangpa chu, jum le jachat hung konna chapa tia seiset chang ding ahi.
He that plundereth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that bringeth shame and dishonor.
27 Kachapa, min na hilna ngai datan, chule chihnan jong donse da jeng tan.
Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth [thee] to err from the sayings of knowledge.
28 Hettohsah duhdah loupa chun, thudih jong adoudal jin, hitichun mingol in, akam sunga themmona aki loilut jitai.
An ungodly witness scorneth at justice, and the mouth of the wicked swalloweth mischief.
29 Kijepna ding mol hi miphalou dinga kisem ahin, tungtun kijep jong hi mingol ho ding bou ahi.
Punishments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
