1 O nem heova mi akidonbut teng alunghang jong alungdam theijin, ahinlah O ngailou tah'a thu kisei vang hin mi aphin lunghang jin ahi.
Anger slays even wise men; yet a submissive answer turns away wrath: but a grievous word stirs up anger.
2 Miching ho leigui hin hetna le thepna thu jeng aphongdoh in, mingol ho kamsung invang ngolna thu jeng aphongdoh jin ahi.
The tongue of the wise knows what is good: but the mouth of the foolish tells out evil things.
3 Yahweh Pakai in muntin hi amit tenin avelhih jing in, thilse le thilpha kibol jouse jong ahesoh keijin ahi.
The eyes of the Lord behold both the evil and the good in every place.
4 O nem heova thu kiseihi hinna thingphung tobang ahin, thu gilou seina leigui hinvang, mihem lungthim asusen ahi.
The wholesome tongue is a tree of life, and he that keeps it shall be filled with understanding.
5 Apan ahilna jahda mihem chu a ngol ahin, asuhkhel na chunga apan ahilna sang nga chu miching ahi.
A fool scorns his father's instruction; but he that keeps his commandments is more prudent. In abounding righteousness is great strength: but the ungodly shall utterly perish from the earth.
6 Mikitahte insunga nei le gou tampi aum jin, miphalou din akilamdoh jeng jong chu gimna bep ahi.
In the houses of the righteous is much strength: but the fruits of the ungodly shall perish.
7 Miching kamcheng akon'in thupha jeng apot in, mingol lungsunga kon in vang hiche hi thil-hahsa ahi
The lips of the wise are bound by discretion: but the hearts of the foolish are not safe.
8 Miphaloute kilhaina gantha hi Yahweh Pakai dinga thet umtah ahin, mikitah ho taona vang Yahweh Pakai ding in lunglhai umtah ahi.
The sacrifices of the ungodly are an abomination to the Lord; but the prayers of them that walk honestly are acceptable with him.
9 Miphalou chena lampi chu Yahweh Pakai dinga thet umtah ahin, thildih lam jenga chepa vang Yahweh Pakai hepina achangin ahi.
The ways of an ungodly [man] are an abomination to the Lord; but he loves those that follow after righteousness.
10 Koi hileh lamdih jot nomlou chu engbolna achansah jin, min aphona sangnom lou hon athipi teidiu ahi.
The instruction of the simple is known by them that pass by; but they that hate reproofs die disgracefully.
11 Yahweh Pakai thilhet thei na hin mithi gam a um ahet dia lom ho jong ahet thei in, achutile mihem lungthim chu ichan geijin ahechen tadem! (Sheol )
Hell and destruction are manifest to the Lord; how shall not also be the hearts of men? (Sheol )
12 Adihlou a chonpan, min aphondoh ding anom pon, hichepa chu miching ho henga jong ache poi.
An uninstructed person will not love those that reprove him; neither will he associate with the wise.
13 Lungthim kipanan mai alhaisah in, lungthim ahesoh teng lhagao jong angui jitai.
When the heart rejoices the countenance is cheerful; but when it is in sorrow, [the countenance] is sad.
14 Hetthemna neipan alunggil in hetna ahol jing in, mingol kamsunga kon in vang ngolna thu jeng apot e.
An upright heart seeks discretion; but the mouth of the uninstructed will experience evils.
15 Gim le hesoh'a um ho hinkho hi nitin'a thilsen abop ahin, lungthim kipah tah'a um hoding in golvah abang jing in ahi.
The eyes of the wicked are always looking for evil things; but the good are always quiet.
16 Nei le gou tampi neija, gentheipi sang in, themcha bou neija Yahweh Pakai gin ding athupi joi.
Better is a small portion with the fear of the Lord, than great treasures without the fear [of the Lord].
17 Bongchal thaotah kitha'a kitomona aso-bep sang in, kingailutah-a ancheme neh khom aphajoi.
Better is an entertainment of herbs with friendliness and kindness, than a feast of calves, with enmity.
18 Milungkhoh in kinahna apunsah in, mi lungneng lunghang vahlou in kitomona jong akichamsah in ahi.
A passionate man stirs up strife; but [he that is] slow to anger appeases even a rising one. A man slow to anger will extinguish quarrels; but an ungodly man rather stirs [them] up.
19 Mithase ho lamlhahna jouse lingle khao'in abap in, mikitah ho lampi vang lamlen kilhong peh-ji ahi.
The ways of sluggards are strewn with thorns; but those of the diligent are made smooth.
20 Chapa ching in apa akipa sah jin, chapa ngol in vang anu jeng jong iman agel-ji poi.
A wise son gladdens [his] father; but a foolish son sneers at his mother.
21 Lungthim beipa din ngolna chu lunglhaina ahin, thil hethempa vang ama chal peh jitai.
The ways of a foolish man are void of sense; but a wise man proceeds on his way aright.
22 Kithumopna alhahsam teng, tohgon ache khel jin, mi akithumop to teng lolhinna ahi.
They that honor not councils put off deliberation; but counsel abides in the hearts of counselors.
23 Phatah a kidonbut hi mijouse lunglhaina ahin, hijeh chun aphat toh kitoh a thu kisei hi aphat a pha ahi.
A bad man will by no means attend to counsel; neither will he say anything seasonable, or good for the common [weal].
24 Michingpa lamlhahna chu hinna lampia akilhung tou in, aman gotmun apeldoh jin ahi. (Sheol )
The thoughts of the wise are ways of life, that he may turn aside and escape from hell. (Sheol )
25 Yahweh Pakai in mi kiletsahho inn aphet lha jin, meithai ho gamgi vang aphet peh jipoi.
The Lord pulls down the houses of scorners; but he establishes the border of the widow.
26 Miphalou lunggel jouse Yahweh Pakai in athet in, Mi lungdih ho kamcheng soh vang Yahweh Pakai dinga lunglhai um ahi.
An unrighteous thought is abomination to the Lord; but the sayings of the pure are held in honor.
27 Koi hileh lamdih louva mutei ding gochan chun, a-insung dinga gimna alhut ahin, ajeh chu neh guh thetbol chan chun hinna amu ding ahi.
A receiver of bribes destroys himself; but he that hates the receiving of bribes is safe. [By alms and by faithful dealings sins are purged away; ] but by the fear of the Lord every one departs from evil.
28 Mikitah hon min thu asei teng, lunggil in adonbut ding dan angaito jin, hinlah mingol te kamcheng soh jouse thilphalou jeng twi kisung lha abang jin ahi.
The hearts of the righteous meditate faithfulness; but the mouth of the ungodly answers evil things. The ways of righteous men are acceptable with the Lord; and through them even enemies become friends.
29 Miphalou hoa kon in Yahweh Pakai akidalsen, mikitah ho taona vang angai peh jin ahi.
God is far from the ungodly; but he hearkens to the prayers of the righteous. Better are small receipts with righteousness, than abundant fruits with unrighteousness. Let the heart of a man think justly, that his steps may be rightly ordered of God. The eye that sees rightly rejoices the heart; and a good report fattens the bones.
30 Mit-ha hoisel'a mi akivet teng midinga lungthim kipana ahin, thupha kiseidoh jousen mihem gu le chang adamsah ahi.
31 Min ahilna ngainom mi chu, miching ho lah'a lha thei ding ahi.
32 Koi hileh min ahilna sang thei loupa chun ahinkho agimsah ahin, ajehhcu min ahilna ngainom mi chun hetthemna anei tei ding ahi.
He that rejects instruction hates himself; but he that mind reproofs loves his soul.
33 Yahweh Pakai gin hi chihna dinga kihilna ahin, chule kisuhnemna hi jabolna'a pang ahi.
The fear of the Lord is instruction and wisdom; and the highest honor will correspond therewith.
