< Nehemiah 8 >

1 Mipiho chu abonchauvin twiphung kelkotna chun lung gel khat neiyin ahung kikhom un ahi. Hichun amahon Ezra koma Pathenin Israelte nit dinga anapeh Mose dan lekhabu chu ahin pohdoh dingin a ngeh tauve.
And all the people assembled as one man in the street that [was] before the water-gate; and they spoke to Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel.
2 Hitichun Lha sagi chule niget lhinnin Ezra thempupan jong hiche danthu lekhabua hi numei le pasal chuleh chapang thu hethei jouse dingin ahin podoh tan ahi.
And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.
3 Aman twiphung kelkot phung sung aningkoi laiya chun jingkah apat sunkim geiyin mipiho jouse hetthei dingin ahin simdoh in ahi. Chule mijousen dan lekhabua asimdoh hochu angai soh keiyuvin ahi.
And he read therein before the street that [was] before the water-gate from the morning until mid-day, before the men and the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the people [were attentive] to the book of the law.
4 Ezra chu hiche ding monga kisem thingpeh kidosang muna chun ading in ahi. Ama jetlam'a chun Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah chule Maasseiah ana dingun ahi. Chule aveilama chun Pedaiah, Meshael, Malkijah, Hashum, Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, chule Meshullam ana dingun ahi.
And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchiah, and Hashum, and Hashbadana, Zechariah, [and] Meshullam.
5 Ezra chu mipihon amusoh keina diuvin mun sanglai’ah ana dingin ahi.
And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the people; ) and when he opened it, all the people stood up:
6 Hitichun Ezra in Pakai Pathen thupitah chu thangvah na anapen ahileh mipiho chun akhut’u ana domsang un, “Amen! Amen!” anatiuvin ahi. Hijeh chun tollah abohkhup mun Pakai chibai aboh’un ahi.
And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshiped the LORD with [their] faces to the ground.
7 Mipiho chu adin mun cheh a adingun, Levite lah a konin Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan chule Pelaiah chun danthu chu mipiho ahillun ahi.
Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people [stood] in their place.
8 Amahon Pathen danbua konin asimdoh’un, abih bih in mipiho hetthei tah dingin hilchet na aneiyun ahi.
So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused [them] to understand the reading.
9 Hichejou chun gamvaipo Nehemiah, Ezra thempupa le danthu thempa chule mipi hilla pang Levite chutoh akikhom uvin mipiho jah’a chun aseiyun, “Tuni hi na Pakai Pathen’u maiya nikho theng ahi, lunghem hih’un kap jong kap hih’un,” atiuve. Ajehchu dan thucheng ho chu ajah phat’uva mipichu kapgam jenguva ahitai.
And Nehemiah, who [is] the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest, the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said to all the people, This day [is] holy to the LORD your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.
10 Chuleh Nehemiah chun aseiben, “Cheuvin lang an tuitah tah ganeuvin lang donthei atuitah tah gadon un kipa thanop gabol un. Anei joulou ho jong chu nachan’u gachan khompi uvin, ajeh chu tuni hi Pakaiya nikho theng ahi, lungthoina nei hih’un, lung kham na jong nei hih’un, ajeh chu Pakaiya nakipa nau hi nathahat nao ahi,” ati.
Then he said to them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions to them for whom nothing is prepared: for [this] day [is] holy to our LORD: neither be ye sad; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
11 Leviten jong mipite chu alhamon’un, “Thipbeh in um’un, kap hih un ajeh chu tuni hi nikho theng ahi,” atiuve.
So the Levites stilled all the people, saying, Hold your peace, for the day [is] holy; neither be ye grieved.
12 Hitichun mipite chu golvah an neding leh don dingin anei joulou ho pan hu ding leh kipah tah a ankong um ding'in apotdoh tauve, ajeh chu amahon Pathen thucheng aja tauvin ahi.
And all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared to them.
13 Ajing nikho nin mipi ho lah a insung lamkai holeh thempu ho, Levi ho acheovin danthu them Ezra chu danthu hilchetbe ding in aga tem’un ahi.
And on the second day were assembled the chief of the fathers of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, to Ezra the scribe, even to understand the words of the law.
14 Dan chu akholchilbe phat’un Pathenin Mose mangcha a athupeh dungjuiya hiche lhasunga kut kibol sunga chu Israel lhambuh sunga umdiu ahi ti amudoh un ahi.
And they found written in the law which the LORD had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month:
15 Hiche hi amahon aphondoh uva akhodung jouseu leh Jerusalem khopi sunga aphondoh diu ahin, “Potdoh’uvin lang mol le lhang tinna cheuvin, Olive thingbah ho hijongleh, theimi vom doho hihen lang, tumthing do ho hijongleh thingna do adang dang hijongleh hiche lhambuh kut bolna dingin hinpolut lut’uvin tia kisun ahi,” tia aphondoh diu amudoh tauve.
And that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities, and in Jerusalem, saying, Go forth to the mount, and fetch olive branches, and pine branches, and myrtle branches, and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as [it is] written.
16 Hijeh chun mipi chu apotdoh’uvin akisei chengse chu ahinpolut soh keiyuvin, abonchauvin lhambuh kut chu abolcheh’uvin, ain chung cheh leh alhonglai dung cheh’u chule Pathen houin lhong dunga chun abol uvin, twiphung inning kelkot phunga jong, Ephraim kelkot phunga jong abol abol sohkei juve.
So the people went forth, and brought [them], and made themselves booths, every one upon the roof of his house, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of God, and in the street of the water-gate, and in the street of the gate of Ephraim.
17 Hitobang tah hin sohchan na a kona hung kile kit miho chun lhambuh kut abol’uvin, chule lhambuh jenga achenguve, ijeh-inem itileh Nun chapa nikholaiya pat hiche nikho geiyahi Israel chaten hitobanga hi anabol khah lou laiyu ahi. Hiche ahi kipa thanopna lentah ana um doh in ahiye.
And all the congregation of them that had returned from the captivity made booths, and sat under the booths: for since the days of Jeshua the son of Nun to that day, had not the children of Israel done so. And there was very great gladness.
18 Hiche kut nisagi sunghin niseh le Ezra in Pathen danthubua konin asimdoh jingin ahi. Chujouvin aniget chan ni in danthu dungjuiyin khoppi thupitah ana bolun ahi.
Also day by day, from the first day to the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. And they kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day [was] a solemn assembly, according to the manner.
