< Nehemiah 4 >
1 Keihon pal kasah phat nauva kana toh’u hi Sanballat in ahin hetdoh phat’in alunghang lheh jengin ahi; ahin ama alunghan behseh jeh in Judate chu i-sahloutah in ahousen ahi.
But when Sanballat heard that we were building the wall, he was angry, and was very indignant, and mocked the Jews.
2 Hitihin aloi agolho masangle Samaria sepai lamkai ho masanga hiti hin aseiye, “Hiche Israel mimote le tah lalte hin ipi bola kingaito hiuvaham? Gan kilhaina maicham gahbol mai maiya kona hi nikhat sunga hiche pal hi agah tundoh joujeng diuva angaitou ham? Chule hiche meiyin akahsa song hole bohse nong nai hohi mangcha a tohdoh ding agotnu hintem?” ati.
He spoke before his brothers and the army of Samaria, and said, “What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they fortify themselves? Will they sacrifice? Will they finish in a day? Will they revive the stones out of the heaps of rubbish, since they are burnt?”
3 Chule akomuva um Ammon mi Tobiah chun hitin ana seiye, “Itobangin kasaphai tijongleu, achunga khun sial khat galhai jongleh chonchim tante,” ati.
Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, “What they are building, if a fox climbed up it, he would break down their stone wall.”
4 Hichun keima hiti hin kataove, “Vo Kapa Pathen kataonao hi neihin ngaipeh’un, keiho hi noise tah in eikihouse tauve, hijeh chun eihouset nauhi amaho chunga chuh sah inlang; chule amaho joh migam a sohchangin umsah jotan:
“Hear, our God, for we are despised. Turn back their reproach on their own head. Give them up for a plunder in a land of captivity.
5 Asuhkhel nau hi nahsah mon koi hih beh in, chule achonset naohi geldao hih beh in, ajeh chu amahohin natongho masang laitah a hin nangma naphin lunghang tauvin ahi,” kati.
Don’t cover their iniquity. Don’t let their sin be blotted out from before you; for they have insulted the builders.”
6 Hitihin keihon khopi pumpi kimvel chu kagen jom toupeh un hiti chun akim kalhut tauvin ahi, ajeh chu mipiten thanom tah in na atongun ahi.
So we built the wall; and all the wall was joined together to half its height, for the people had a mind to work.
7 Ahinla hitobang tah a hi natoh achal a Jerusalem pal achimsa lai jouse akisemphat hi Sanballat le Tobiah chuleh Arab mite, Amon mite le Ashdod miten ajahdoh phat’un alunghang lheh jeng tauvin ahi.
But when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabians, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the repairing of the walls of Jerusalem went forward, and that the breaches began to be filled, they were very angry;
8 Hijeh chun amaho hin Jerusalem hindel khuma kisatpia suhboi dingin agong tauvin ahi.
and they all conspired together to come and fight against Jerusalem, and to cause confusion amongst us.
9 Ahinlah keiho Pathen hengah kataovun khopi chu kangah’un asun ajan in keiho le keiho kaki veng tauvin ahi.
But we made our prayer to our God, and set a watch against them day and night because of them.
10 Hichejou hin Juda mipite natongho la athachol lheh tan, song lhoh dingla atamlheh nalaiyin ahi. Hijeh chun eiho changseh in pal hi saphajou pouhite tin aphun tauvin ahi.
Judah said, “The strength of the bearers of burdens is fading and there is much rubble, so that we are not able to build the wall.”
11 Alangkhatna kamelma teuvin jong, “Ipi thil soha ham ti ahetdoh kah’uvin, eihon delkhum’u hitin ithagam’uva anatohu hi isuhtang diu ahi,” tin aseiyun ahi.
Our adversaries said, “They will not know or see, until we come in amongst them and kill them, and cause the work to cease.”
12 Hitia melmate toh cheng khom Judah ho ahungun avel vel in ahung seiyun, “Muntin a kona hunguva eihung delkhum diu ahi,” atiuve.
When the Jews who lived by them came, they said to us ten times from all places, “Wherever you turn, they will attack us.”
13 Hijeh chun keiman paltom mun nemlang akilang dom mun hoa chun thalchoi angah ding kakoiyin ahi. Chule keiman ama ama insung dungjuiyin chem, tengcha leh moltum kichoiya angah ding jong kaban goltoh in ahi.
Therefore I set guards in the lowest parts of the space behind the wall, in the open places. I set the people by family groups with their swords, their spears, and their bows.
14 Hiche joujin keiman thil umdan chu kavetoh in, mithupi hole vaihom ho chule mipi dang hochu kakou khomin akomuvah hitin kaseiye, “Melmate jeh khun kicha hih behun! loupitah le thaneitah Pakai chu geldoh un chuleh nasopite, najiteu, nachateu leh na insungu huhnan galsat din pangun,” katin ahi.
I looked, and rose up, and said to the nobles, to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of them! Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.”
15 Kamelmateu chun athilse gon’u kahehdoh’u chu ajadoh tauvin chuleh Pathenin athilse gon’u chu asuhboipeh phat un, keiho palmuna kana toh nao mun cheh a kakile kit tauve.
When our enemies heard that it was known to us, and God had brought their counsel to nothing, all of us returned to the wall, everyone to his work.
16 Ahinlah hichea konchun kamite akeh khatin bou na atongun, adangsen tengcha akidop’un, lum akichoi’un, chule thalpi akipat’un, thih sangkhol aki’ah sohkei tauve. Chuleh lamkai ho jouse chu Judah mipiho atilkhou in apang jingun ahi.
From that time forth, half of my servants did the work, and half of them held the spears, the shields, the bows, and the coats of mail; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah.
17 Chule natong hochun akhut langkhat in athilpoh’u chu atuh’un, chuleh akhut langkhat in manchah akichoi’un ahi.
Those who built the wall, and those who bore burdens loaded themselves; everyone with one of his hands did the work, and with the other held his weapon.
18 Hitichun natong ho jouse chun apang peh’uva chem akiko soh keiyun ahi. Chule sumkon mutna pangpa chu mutdinga kigo sadem’in keikoma aum jinge.
Amongst the builders, everyone wore his sword at his side, and so built. He who sounded the trumpet was by me.
19 Hichun keiman mithupi hole vaihom ho kom leh mipiho koma chun, kahet themsah in, “Inatoh’u hi akithe jal’in hijeh a chu eiho jong pal gol dungjuiya ikithe thang jengu ahi.
I said to the nobles, and to the rulers and to the rest of the people, “The work is great and widely spread out, and we are separated on the wall, far from one another.
20 Hiche sumkon gin hi najah tengu leh agina langa chun hindel cheh jengun chutengleh I-Pathen un gal eisat peh dingu ahi,” kati.
Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, rally there to us. Our God will fight for us.”
21 Keihon jingkah apat nilhah geiyin, chule nisoa pat nilhun geiyin na katongun ahi. Chule mi akeh khat chu manchah kichoi pumin eingah jingun ahi.
So we did the work. Half of the people held the spears from the rising of the morning until the stars appeared.
22 Keiman pal koma cheng ho koma chun Jerusalem khopi sunga hung um dau vin tin kasei pehin ahi. Hitia chu amaho le alhacha hon janleh eingah’uva pangdiu sunteng leh na atohdiu ahi, kati.
Likewise at the same time I said to the people, “Let everyone with his servant lodge within Jerusalem, that in the night they may be a guard to us, and may labour in the day.”
23 Hiti hin hiche sunghin keiho lah a koima chan kikahin kasopiho ahin, kalhacha ho ahin, keitoh umkhom eingah ho ahin kavon’u chu sopding tilouvin kaladoh khapouve, ajeh chu phattin in manchah kakichoi jingun ahi.
So neither I, nor my brothers, nor my servants, nor the men of the guard who followed me took off our clothes. Everyone took his weapon to the water.
