< Nahum 3 >

1 O he ada nahi, thisan dimset khopi, Jou le nal dimset’a mithil kichom jeng dimset, min nachom ngahtih neilouva, angahna beija na um ding ahi tai!
Woe to the bloody city! it [is] all full of lies [and] robberies; the prey departeth not;
2 Sakol kijep gin, kangtalai kitol gin, sakol kinunkho gin leh kangtalai kipei gin pikhu!
The noise of a whip, and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the prancing horses, and of the bounding chariots.
3 Chuleh sakol touthem hon adelkhum khum uvin, Chemjam kol aval lah lah jeng in Tengkol jong apah lah lah jeng’e; Sepaite akithatsa ho thilong alhuh lhuh-in akisen, mihem long simjou louvin alum in achung’a miho akipal lhu lhu jeng’ui!
The horseman lifteth up both the bright sword, and the glittering spear: and [there is] a multitude of slain, and a great number of carcasses; and [there is] no end of [their] corpses; they stumble upon their corpses:
4 Thilsoh hijat pi hi sujohnu sujoh’a apan jeh’a soh ahin, Lungset set’a umdoh a thina thei theija kiheidoh ahitai; chule sujoh a pang chun sujoh’a apanna jeh a namtin vaipi geija apui chatvaija deichat chat’a aksemna jeh a chu mitin vaipi geija apui chatvai soh ahitai.
Because of the multitude of the lewd deeds of the well-favored harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her lewd deeds, and families through her witchcrafts.
Behold, I [am] against thee, saith the LORD of hosts; and I will remove thy skirts upon thy face, and I will show the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame.
6 Keiman nang hi bonlhoh kase khum ding, muset set dia kabol’a, vet vet dia ka um sah ding nahi.
And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazing-stock.
7 Koi koi hijongleh namu pha jouse chu kin leu diu, Nineveh khopi hi akeohel’a kijam ahitai, kon aka ka ding hitam? a lhembi ding leh alungmon ding koi kiholpeh ding hitam? tia asei dingu ahi.
And it shall come to pass, [that] all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her; whence shall I seek comforters for thee?
8 Nile vadung panga chenga akimvela twipi veikol soh hel, twikhanglen pal banga neija twipi banga nei No-amon mite sanga phajo nahim?
Art thou better than populous No, that was situated among the rivers, [that had] the waters around it, whose rampart [was] the sea, [and] her wall [was] from the sea?
9 Ethopia chu aki hatsah na anahin, angahna bei Egypt jong akihatsahna ahi; Put khopi le Libya mite jong akithopia ana pangji ahiuve.
Cush and Egypt [were] her strength, and [it was] infinite; Put and Lubim were thy helpers.
10 Hijongleh min apoh mang ahitan, sohchang dia che ahitai; achasen jouse akichilgoi sohtan, thingphung jouse jong akivogoi soh tauve; chule akhopi sunga migun ja um tahtah ho jong min vang asan’uvin akihom tauve; chujong leh akhopi sunga mi thahat lai jouse jong thih khaovin akihen sohtai.
Yet [was] she carried away, she went into captivity: her young children also were dashed in pieces at the head of all the streets: and they cast lots for her honorable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.
11 Nang jong ju nakham ding, namit kisucho ding, melma akona hoidoh na dia nang in kisel na ding na hol ding ahi.
Thou also shalt be drunken: thou shalt be hid, thou also shalt seek strength because of the enemy.
12 Nakulpi jouse jong theichang phung bep ahin, theichang ga masa tobanga akiho lhah leh anenompa kamsung'a lenglut jeng ahi.
All thy strong holds [shall be like] fig-trees with the first ripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater.
13 Vetan, na sepaija pang ho jong na cho lai sunga numei jeng ahitai. Chule naki doupite din nagam sung a kelkot jouse lentah tah-in akihong doh sohtai; na kelkot gol jouse jong hi meiyin akahvam soh hel ahitai.
Behold, thy people in the midst of thee [are] women: the gates of thy land shall be set wide open to thy enemies: the fire shall devour thy bars.
14 Kho ki-umna dingin twi gathal loijin, na kulpi jouse kikaidet loijin; bonlhoh lah a lenglut jeng in chule changpol chilgoijin, cheh deng loijin;
Draw thee waters for the siege, fortify thy strong holds: go into clay, and tread the mortar, make strong the brick-kiln.
15 Meiyin namoh kahvam theijin tin, chemjam in na vautan thei ding ahi; khaokhote kithat gam banga natha doh jeng thei ahi. chule nang ho le nangho khaokhote jat in kisim uvin lang khaokho te bang in kipunsah jeng uvin!
There shall the fire devour thee; the sword shall cut thee off, it shall eat thee up like the canker-worm: make thyself many as the canker-worm, make thyself many as the locusts.
16 Na mite kivei ho chu punsah jing in, vana ahsite sangin tamsah loijin; khaokhoten alha ajah jiuvin aleng mangloi jitauve.
Thou hast multiplied thy merchants above the stars of heaven: the canker-worm spoileth, and flieth away.
17 Chule namilen na milalte jong khaosut te beh ahiuven, nadanthu lekha them ho jong hi meibol kai nikhoa pal dunga khaokhote jinglei loiya toubep ahiuve.
Thy crowned [are] as the locusts, and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which settle in the hedges in the cold day, [but] when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they [are].
18 Vo Assyria lengpa na kelngoi ching ho a ihmu soh tauve; na milen na milalte jong akitalsoh tauvin ahi. chule namite jong molsang chung dung jousea akithe thangsoh’uvin, akou khom ding koimacha aumtapoi.
Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell [in the dust]: thy people are scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth [them].
19 Chule namaha nasil ngim peh ding koima aumpon, natina maha lah amelse behseh jengin ahi; ahinla nachung chang thudol japha chan akipah’uvin akhut abeng beng jeng uvin ahi. Ajeh chu tang louhela thilse nabol, koipen chunga hung lhung khalouva um kha em?
[There is] no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the fame of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?
