1 Hiche jouhin Ephraim mipiten Gideon kommah hitin aseijun ahi, “Ipi dinga hitia hi neibollu ham? Midiante satdinga nahung kijot uva chu ipi dinga neina kou louvu ham?” atiuvin; lungnatah in Gideon chu ana kinelpiu vin ahi.
And the men of Ephraim say to him, “What [is] this thing you have done to us—not to call for us when you went to fight with Midian?” And they strive with him severely;
2 Ahin Gideonin adonbutnin, “Nangho toh tekah dinga ken ipi katohdoh beh am? Ephraim min lengpithei alolhah jouva amoh akhen hou chu Abeizer phungbah neocha ho lhosoh ga pumpi sanga tamjo hilouham?
and he says to them, “What have I now done like you? Are the gleanings of Ephraim not better than the harvest of Abi-Ezer?
3 Pathen’in Midian gal lamkai teni Oreb le Zeeb chunga galjona napeh to tekah thei dinga ken ipi katohdoh beh am ati. Ephraim mihon Gideon thusei chu ajah phat’un alunghan nao adailha tai.
God has given the heads of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb, into your hand; and what have I been able to do like you?” Then their temper desisted from off him in his speaking this thing.
4 Gideonin amite jathum toh Jordan vadung ahinpal galkai jun ahi, athachol lheh jeng vangun agalmiteu chu anadel nalai jun ahi.
And Gideon comes to the Jordan, passing over, he and the three hundred men who [are] with him—wearied, yet pursuing—
5 Succoth alhun phat’un Gideonin akhopi lamkaiho kommah “Ka sepaite ho dingin anneh themkhat beh neipeuvin amahohi athachol lheh tauvin ahi. Keiman Midian lengte Zebah leh Zalmunna kahin del ahi,” ati.
and he says to the men of Succoth, “Please give cakes of bread to the people who [are] at my feet, for they [are] wearied, and I am pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian.”
6 Ahinlah Succoth lamkaiten adonbut’un, “Zebah le Zalmunna chu hinman masauvin chujouteng keihon nasepaite vah naovinge” atiuve.
And the heads of Succoth say, “Is the hand of Zebah and Zalmunna now in your hand, that we give bread to your host?”
7 Hichephat chun Gideonin ajah uvah, “Pakaiyin Zebah le Zalmunna chunga galjona eipehuva kahung kile lamteng leh gammang noiya konna kahin lah lingle molla natahsau kajep teldeh ding nahiuve,” atitan ahi.
And Gideon says, “Therefore—in YHWH’s giving Zebah and Zalmunna into my hand—I have threshed your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness, and with the threshing instruments.”
8 Hichea kon in Gideon chu Paniel langah achetouvin amaho komma jong chun nehding an athum’in ahileh amahon jong hitobang machun anadonbut un ahi.
And he goes up there [to] Penuel, and speaks to them thus; and the men of Penuel answer him as the men of Succoth answered.
9 Hijeh chun amanjong amaho komma chun, “Gal kahinjoa kahung kileteng hiche inting vumhi kaloi chimding ahi” atipeh tai.
And he also speaks to the men of Penuel, saying, “In my turning back in peace, I break down this tower.”
10 Hiche pet hin Zebah leh Zalmunna chu Karkor munnah epia sangsom le sang-nga toh aumkhom lhonnin ahi, hicheng hochu solang gamkaija pangkhom epia sangjakhat le sangsomni ana kithat holah’a amoh ho cheng chu ahiuve.
And Zebah and Zalmunna [are] in Karkor, and their camps with them, about fifteen thousand, all who are left of all the camp of the sons of the east; and those falling [are] one hundred and twenty thousand men, drawing sword.
11 Gideonin Nobah le Jogbebah solam mi kiveiho lampi chu akollin aum kimvellin, chuin Midian sepaite chu kiging manlouvin adelkhum tan ahi.
And Gideon goes up the way of those who dwell in tents, on the east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and strikes the camp, and the camp was confident;
12 Midian lengteni Zebah leh Zalmunna anajamlhon in ahin, Gideonin adelsuh peh in asepaite jousetoh amattha tan ahi.
and Zebab and Zalmunna flee, and he pursues after them, and captures the two kings of Midian, Zebah and Zalmunna, and he has caused all the camp to tremble.
13 Hiche jouchun Gideon chu agalsat munna konchun ahungkile in Heres lampi chu ahin jotnin ahi.
And Gideon son of Joash turns back from the battle, at the going up of the sun,
14 Hichea chun Succoth na konna hung golhang khat amannin akhopi sunga thunei vaihom hole lamkai upa somsagi le sagi ho min chu ajihdoh soh tan ahi.
and captures a young man of the men of Succoth, and asks him, and he describes to him the heads of Succoth, and its elderly—seventy-seven men.
15 Gideon chu Succoth lang’ah akile in alamkai hou kommah chun hitin aseitan ahi, “Tuhin Zebah le Zalmunna chu hikommah aumtai, tumasanga nakom uva kahung chun nanghon noisetah in Zebah leh Zalmunna chu hinman masaovin chutengleh nasepaite thachol chu vahnao vinge natiuvin ahi.
And he comes to the men of Succoth and says, “Behold Zebah and Zalmunna, with whom you reproached me, saying, Is the hand of Zebah and Zalmunna now in your hand that we give bread to your men who [are] wearied?”
16 Hijouchun Gideonin akhopi lamkaiho chu gammang noija ahinlah lingle mol chun ajepmin hilchahna aneitan ahi.
And he takes the elderly of the city, and [the] thorns of the wilderness, and the threshing instruments, and teaches the men of Succoth by them,
17 Aman Peniel inting vumjong chu avochim’in hiche khopi sunga umho jouse chu athat gamtan ahi.
and he has broken down the Tower of Penuel, and slays the men of the city.
18 Hijouchun Gideonin Zebah leh Zalmunna chu adongin “Tabor munna natha hou chu itobang mi hiuvam” ati. Ama nin adonbutnin “Nang tobang ahiuve, amahon chun lengcha hina limle mel apu cheh uve,” ati lhonin ahi.
And he says to Zebah and to Zalmunna, “What manner of men [were they] whom you slew in Tabor?” And they say, “As you—so they, [each] one as the form of the king’s sons.”
19 Hichun aman jong, “Amaho chu kasopi pasal ho ahiuvin, keima kanu tah chate jeng ahiuve,” ati. Chujouvin Gideonin, “Hingjing Pakai minna kasei ahi, amaho chu anathat hihleu chun tunia hi nangni katha lhonlou ding ahi,” tin asaptho jengin tan ahi.
And he says, “They [were] my brothers—sons of my mother; YHWH lives, if you had kept them alive—I would not kill you.”
20 Chuin Gideon kiheiyin achapa atahpenpa Jethar komma chun, “Kipat inlang ani lhonin that tan” ati. Ahin Jether chu chapangcha ahiyeh in akichan achemjam asatdoh ngam tapon ahi.
And he says to his firstborn Jether, “Rise, slay them”; and the young man has not drawn his sword, for he has been afraid, for he [is] yet a youth.
21 Hichun Zebah leh Zalmunna chun Gideon kommah asei lhonnin, “Pasal nahina tah langin, nangma tah in neithat jeng lhonnin,” ati lhonin ahi. Hichun, Gideonin amani chu athat in asangongsang ngong lhon’a thilmantam ho chu akilah tan ahi.
And Zebah and Zalmunna say, “Rise and fall on us; for as the man—his might”; and Gideon rises, and slays Zebah and Zalmunna, and takes the crescents which [are] on the necks of their camels.
22 Hichun Israel ten Gideon komma chun “Nangle nachate chuleh natute changeijin kachung uvah vaihommin pangtauvin ajeh chu nangin Midiante a kon in neihuhdoh tauvin ahi,” atiuve.
And the men of Israel say to Gideon, “Rule over us, both you, and your son, and your son’s son, for you have saved us from the hand of Midian.”
23 Ahin Gideonin adonbut’in, “Kei kahin kachate ahin nachung uva vaihom pouvinge, Pakai joh in nachunguva vai ahomding ahi,” ati.
And Gideon says to them, “I do not rule over you, nor does my son rule over you; YHWH rules over you.”
24 Ahinlah keiman thilkhat kathum nomme, nanghon mikhat cheh in galmi natha houva konna nahin chomdoh u bilba chu neipeuvin ati. (Galmiho chu Ishmaelte ahiyeh un sana bilba akiba cheh u ahi).
And Gideon says to them, “Let me ask a petition of you, and each give to me the ring of his prey, for they have rings of gold, for they [are] Ishmaelites.”
25 Amahon kipah tah in aseijun, “Peuvinge” atiuve. Hitichun amaho khatcheh in, galla ahin chomdoh lah uva kon in sana bilba hochu pon aphaovin aseplha sohkeiyun ahi.
And they say, “We certainly give”; and they spread out the garment, and each casts the ring of his prey there;
26 Hiche sana bilba hochu shekel sangkhat le jasagi aphan ahi, hichea panglou galla ahin chomdoh u adangho chu, lengte kijepna thilmantam ho, Midian engthen akivonnu ponsandup hole asangongsao hou ngonga a-opeh u thil mantamho jouse jong ahinalaiye.
and the weight of the rings of gold which he asked for is one thousand and seven hundred [shekels] of gold, apart from the crescents, and the pendants, and the purple garments, which [are] on the kings of Midian, and apart from the chains which [are] on the necks of their camels,
27 Gideonin hiche sana hoa konchun ompho asemmin ama khopi Ophrah munna akoiyin ahi. Ahinla gangtah in Israelten hichu ahin hou un kisuhboh nan aneiyun, hichu Gideon le ainsung mite dingin kipalna in ahung pangtai.
and Gideon makes it into an ephod, and sets it up in his city, in Ophrah, and all Israel go whoring after it there, and it is for a snare to Gideon and to his house.
28 Hitihin Israelten Midiante chu ana sunem’un ahileh hichekah chu Midiante akiledoh jouta pouvin ahi. Hichea konchn Gideon hinlai sunga kum somli sungin gamsung’ah chamna alengin ahi.
And Midian is humbled before the sons of Israel, and have not added to lift up their head; and the land rests [for] forty years in the days of Gideon.
29 Hiche jouchun Joash chapa Gideon chu ainlanga akiletan ahi.
And Jerubba‘al son of Joash goes and dwells in his own house,
30 Aman chapa som sagi aneiyin ahi, ajeh chu amah in ji tamtah aneijeh ahi.
and there have been seventy sons of Gideon, coming out of his loin, for he had many wives;
31 Aman Shechem munna thaikem khat ananeijin, amanu chun chapa khat ahinpeh in amin Abimelech ahi.
and his concubine, who [is] in Shechem, has borne to him—even she—a son, and he appoints his name Abimelech.
32 Gideon athichun ateh lheh jengtan ahi, amachu Abiezer phungmite gamsunga um Ophrah munnah apa Joash lhankhuh a anavui tauvin ahi.
And Gideon son of Joash dies, in a good old age, and is buried in the burying-place of his father Joash, in Ophrah of the Abi-Ezrite.
33 Gideon thijou jouvin Israelte chu amahole amaho akisuboh un Baal chu a pathen’in akisemmun Baal doilim semthuho chu anahouvun ahi.
And it comes to pass, when Gideon [is] dead, that the sons of Israel turn back and go whoring after the Ba‘alim, and set Ba‘al-Berith over them for a god;
34 Amahon avelluva cheng agalmite jouseuva konna ahin huhdoh uva a Pakai a Pathennu chu asumil tauvin ahi.
and the sons of Israel have not remembered their God YHWH, who is delivering them out of the hand of all their surrounding enemies,
35 Amahon Israel mite dinga thilpha tamtah ana tongdoh a Jerub-baal kitipa Gideon insung mite jengjong janaleh gelkhohna imacha ana neitapouvin ahi.
neither have they done kindness with the house of Jerubba‘al—Gideon—according to all the good which he did with Israel.
