1 Israel ten Pakai mitmun thilse jeng anabol tauvin ahi. Hijeh chun Pakaiyin amaho chu kum sagi sungin Midian mite khutna ana pedoh kittan ahi.
And the sons of Israel do evil in the eyes of YHWH, and YHWH gives them into the hand of Midian [for] seven years,
2 Midiante chu akhoh behseh jengun ahi leh Israel techun ama hole aki hinso theina dingun molchung hole songkoho chuleh kulpi hoilai lai jah kisel nading akisem mun ahi.
and the hand of Midian is strong against Israel, [so] the sons of Israel have made for themselves the nooks which [are] in the mountains, and the caves, and the strongholds [to hide] from the presence of Midian.
3 Israel’ten chang le mim akitu teng’u le Midian mite le Amalek mite chuleh solam mite ahungun Israelte chu ahung ahung delkhum jiuvin ahi.
And it has been, if Israel has sowed, that Midian has come up, and Amalek, and the sons of the east, indeed, they have come up against him,
4 Amaho chu agamsung a chun apansaden jiuvin, alousohga ho asuhsetpeh jiuvin, Gaza changeijin Israel te gancha ho kelngoi ho le kelcha ho chuleh asangan hou achom peh jiuvin, anehdiu imacha anakhen pehji pouvin ahi.
and encamp against them, and destroy the increase of the land until your entering Gaza; and they leave no sustenance in Israel, either sheep, or ox, or donkey;
5 Hiche galmi ho chu agancha houleh aponbuh’u toh ahung kon jiuvin khaokho te jat aphaovin, asangongsao tamtah simsenlou ho chutoh ahung tol lutjiuvin ahi. Amaho chun agamsung chu abah gam hel tokah’un aumden jiuvin ahi.
for they and their livestock come up, with their tents; they come in as the fullness of the locust for multitude, and of them and of their livestock there is no number, and they come into the land to destroy it.
6 Hitichun Israel techu Midian’te jeh in kel in aum jitauvin ahi; chuphat chun Israel te chi Pakai kommah panpi ngehin ana kapjah jeng tauvin ahi.
And Israel is very weak from the presence of Midian, and the sons of Israel cry to YHWH.
7 Midian ten asuhgenthei jeh uva aka jah jeng phat’un
And it comes to pass, when the sons of Israel have cried to YHWH concerning Midian,
8 Pakaiyin Israelte kommah themgao khat anasoltan ahi. Aman hi tin anaseije, “Hichehi Pakai Israel te Pathenin asei ahi, ‘Ken nangho Egypt’a nasoh channaova kon na kahin puidoh u nahi tauve.
that YHWH sends a man, a prophet, to the sons of Israel, and he says to them, “Thus said YHWH, God of Israel: I have brought you up out of Egypt, and I bring you out from a house of servants,
9 Egypt mite a konleh nang ho nasugenthei hou jousea kon nin kahin huhdoh’u nahitauve, Keiman nagal mite chu kadel mang pehun hiche gam hi nangho kapeh’u nahi tauve.
and I deliver you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all your oppressors, and I cast them out from your presence, and I give their land to you,
10 Keima hi Pakai na Pathen u kahi, tua nachon naova agam mi Amor mite pathen ho hi nahou louhel diu ahi, kana tin ahi, ahinlah nang hon kasei na ngai pouvin ahi,” ati.
and I say to you, I [am] your God YHWH, you do not fear the gods of the Amorite in whose land you are dwelling—and you have not listened to My voice.”
11 Hichejou chun Pakai Vantil chu Ophrah kiti munna thingphung lentah noiya chun ahung touvin ahi. Hiche Ophrah kitihi Abiezer phungmi Joash kitipa’a ahi. Joash chapa Gideon chu lengpi theiheh na sung a chu suhlou chang anavoh a Midian mite’a konna achaang chu sel ana go in ahi
And the Messenger of YHWH comes and sits under the oak which [is] in Ophrah, which [is] to Joash the Abi-Ezrite, and his son Gideon is beating out wheat in the winepress, to remove [it] from the presence of the Midianites;
12 Pakai Vantil chu ahung ki lah’in ajah a, “Mi hat gal-hang nang ma Pakaiyin nang na umpi jinge,” ahintin ahi.
and the Messenger of YHWH appears to him and says to him, “YHWH [is] with you, O mighty man of valor.”
13 Gideon’in adonbut in “Hepu, Pakaiyin ei umpiu va ahi leh hitobang hahsat nahi kathoh diu ham? Kapu kapateuvin, Pakaiyin thilkidang anatohdoh peh eina seipeh hochu hoilang geiyah hitam? Pakaiyin Egypt gamma konna eina puidoh’u hitalou ham? Ahin tunvang Pathen in einuse tauvin chule Midian mite khutna eipehdoh’u ahitai,” ati.
And Gideon says to Him, “O my Lord, [if] YHWH is indeed with us, then why has all this found us? And where [are] all His wonders which our fathers recounted to us, saying, Has YHWH not brought us up out of Egypt? And now YHWH has left us, and gives us into the hand of Midian.”
14 Hiche jouchun Pakaiyin amalam ahin ngan, “Nathahatna chu mangchan lang Midiante a kon in Israelte chu gahuhdoh tan, hiche dinga chu keiman nanghi kasol nahi,” ati.
And YHWH turns to him and says, “Go in this—your power; and you have saved Israel out of the hand of Midian—have I not sent you?”
15 Ahin, Gideonin adonbutnin, “Pakai ken Israel chu iti kahuhdoh joudingham? Kaphung jonghi Manasseh phung lah a alhasam pen ahin chuleh keima tah jeng jonghi kainsung lah uva aneopen kahibouve” ati.
And he says to Him, “O my Lord, with what do I save Israel? Behold, my chief [is] weak in Manasseh, and I [am] the least in the house of my father.”
16 Pakaiyin Gideon komma chun, “Keiman nanga kaumpi jingding ahi. Chuleh nangman mikhatseh toh kisatto banga Midiante chu nasuhmang soh helding ahi,” ati.
And YHWH says to him, “Because I am with you—you have struck the Midianites as one man.”
17 Gibeon nin adonbutnin, “Nangin neikithopi mong ding ahileh Pakaiyin kakoma hin thu asei mong monge ti kihettheina dingin melchihna khat neipen,” ati.
And he says to Him, “Now if I have found grace in Your eyes, then You have done a sign for me that You are speaking with me.
18 “Keiman kahung kile kitna nakomma maichamma toding kahin choi tokahin anapotdoh hih beh’in” ati. Hichun Amanjong “nahung kilekit kahsen hikomma hin anaum jing nange,” ati.
Please do not move from here until my coming to You, and I have brought out my present, and put it before You”; and He says, “I abide until your return.”
19 Gideon gangtah’in ainlang’a achen, kelcha dongkhat aga hon’in, changbong pochakhat alan, cholsollou changlhah themkhat aga kangin ahi. Hiche jouchun asahon chu pochakhat na ahin dommin atuijong belkhat nah ahin choijin thingphung len noija anatou Vantil kommah aga luipeh tan ahi.
And Gideon has gone in, and prepares a kid of the goats, and an ephah of flour [worth] of unleavened things; he has put the flesh in a basket, and he has put the broth in a pot, and he brings [them] out to Him, to the place of the oak, and brings [them] near.
20 Pathen Vantil chun akommah, “Sa me kihon chuleh cholsolou changlhah chu songpi chunga chun koijinlang chuleh, satuichu achungah sunglhan,” ati. Chuin Gideon chun akiseipeh bangchun abollin ahi.
And the Messenger of God says to him, “Take the flesh and the unleavened things, and place [them] on this rock—and pour out the broth”; and he does so.
21 Hiche jouchun Pakai Vantillin akhutna achoi atenggol mong hemmachun kelchasa le changlhah chu agah tongkhan ahileh songpi’a konchun mei ahungkou doh’in ahin choiho jouse chu akavam tan ahi. Hiche jouchun Pakai vantil chu amangtan ahi.
And the Messenger of YHWH puts forth the end of the staff which [is] in His hand, and comes against the flesh, and against the unleavened things, and the fire goes up out of the rock and consumes the flesh and the unleavened things—and the Messenger of YHWH has gone from his eyes.
22 Chutah chun Gideonin jong Pakai vantil mong mong ahinai ti ahechen tai, hichejeh chun Gideon in hitin asei tai, “Pakai, keima amangthah kahitai, ajeh chu keiman Pakai vantil chu kimaiton kakimupin ahi,” ati.
And Gideon sees that He [is] the Messenger of YHWH, and Gideon says, “Aah, Lord YHWH! For so I have looked on the Messenger of YHWH face to face!”
23 Hiche Pakaiyin adonbutnin, “Lungmong in, Imacha tiponte, kicha hih in nathi louding ahi,” ati.
And YHWH says to him, “Peace to you; do not fear; you do not die.”
24 Chuphat’in, Gideonin Pakai maicham khat asemmin amin Yahweh Shalom asah in ahi (Hichu Pakai hi chamna ahi tina ahi). Hiche maicham chu Abeizer phung mite gam Ophrah munnah tuni geijin aum jing nalaijin ahi.
And Gideon builds an altar to YHWH there, and calls it YHWH-Shalom, it [is] yet in Ophrah of the Abi-Ezrites to this day.
25 Hiche jan machun Pakaiyin Gideon kommah hitin aseipeh tai, “Napa gancha lah a kon in kum sagi lhingsa bongchal anichanna chu hinkaiyin lang, napan anatundoh Baal maicham chu volhu in lang chuleh akomma kitung Asherah doikhom chu satlha jengin.
And it comes to pass, on that night, that YHWH says to him, “Take the young ox which your father has, and the second bullock of seven years, and you have thrown down the altar of Ba‘al which your father has, and cut down the Asherah which [is] by it,
26 Chujouteng leh Pakai na Pathen maicham khat hiche thinglhang leh amuntheng’ah khun tungdoh inlang, songho chu phatah in goltoh inlang, Asherah doikhom nasat lhuh chu meitina’n mangin lang bongchal chu maicham chunga chun pumgo thilto in tohdoh in,” ati.
and you have built an altar to your God YHWH on the top of this stronghold, by the arrangement, and have taken the second bullock, and caused a burnt-offering to ascend with the wood of the Asherah which you cut down.”
27 Hijeh chun Gideonin alhachaho mi som akipuijin Pakaiyin bollin ati bang bang chun aboltan ahi. Ahinlah khopi miho leh apa insungmi adangho akichat jeh in jannin abollin ahi.
And Gideon takes ten men of his servants, and does as YHWH has spoken to him, and it comes to pass, because he has been afraid of the house of his father, and the men of the city, to do [it] by day, that he does [it] by night.
28 Ajing jingkah matah in khopi miteho chu ahungtho phat’un Baal doikhom maicham chu anakivo lhutan chuleh akomma kitung Asherah doikhom jong chu ana kisat lhutan ahi, ti amudoh tauvin ahi. Hicheho khelchun maicham thah khat anakitung doh in hiche chung chun bongchal pumgo thiltoa ana kitohdohna jongchu amu uvin ahi.
And the men of the city rise early in the morning, and behold, the altar of Ba‘al has been broken down, and the Asherah which is by it has been cut down, and the second bullock has been offered on the altar which is built.
29 Mipi hochu khatle khat akihouvin “Koibol ahidem atiuvin ahi?” Hitia akihoutoh leova ahin kholchil phat’un Joash chapa Gideon ahiti ahin hedoh tauve.
And they say to one another, “Who has done this thing?” And they inquire and seek, and they say, “Gideon son of Joash has done this thing.”
30 Khopi mite hochun Joash kommah “Nachapa chu hin puidoh in, Baal maicham asuhset jehleh Asherah doikhom asat lhuh jeh a amahi thitei teiding ahi,” atiuve.
And the men of the city say to Joash, “Bring out your son, and he dies, because he has broken down the altar of Ba‘al, and because he has cut down the Asherah which [is] by it.”
31 Ahinlah Joash chun ama ahung nokhum mipi hochu ale senjah jengin, “Ipi dinga nanghon Baal doi ding a naseipeh uva nahuh’u ham? Koi hileh ama huhna a thusei pen penchu jingle jingkah langa kithat ding ahi. Baal hi pathen dihtah mong ahileh ama chungthu aman kisei nante, chuleh ama maicham asusepen penchu aman kisuhmang nah hihding ham?” ati.
And Joash says to all who have stood against him, “You, do you plead for Ba‘al? You—do you save him? He who pleads for him is put to death during the morning; if he [is] a god he pleads against him himself, because he has broken down his altar.”
32 Hijeh chun hicheni apat chun Gideon chu Jerubbaal asah taove. Hichun “Baal chun amapa chunga aphu kilah hen” tina ahi. Ajeh chu aman Baal maicham ana vohchim ahi.
And he calls him, on that day, Jerubba‘al, saying, “The Ba‘al pleads against him, because he has broken down his altar.”
33 Hiche jouchun Midian mite le Amalek mite chuleh solam mipite hochu apangkhom’un Israel te satdingin Jordan vadung ahung galkaijin Jezreel phaichamma chun akikhom uvin ngahmun akisem tauvin ahi.
And all Midian and Amalek and the sons of the east have been gathered together, and pass over, and encamp in the Valley of Jezreel,
34 Hichun Pakai Lhagao chu Gideon chunga apansatan ahi. Aman saki a kisem sumkon chu amut’in galsat ding mi akou khommin ahileh Abiezer phung mihochu ama kommah ahung tauvin ahi.
and the Spirit of YHWH has clothed Gideon, and he blows with a horn, and Abi-Ezer is called after him;
35 Aman thupo miho chu asollin Manasseh, Asher, Zebulun leh Naphtali galsat ding miho chu aga kousah in ahileh amaho abonchan ahung kon tauvin ahi.
and he has sent messengers into all Manasseh, and it is also called after him; and he has sent messengers into Asher, and into Zebulun, and into Naphtali, and they come up to meet them.
36 Hichun Gideonin Pathen hengah ataovin, “Nangin nanasei banga keima hi Israel te jouse huhdoh dinga neimanchah mong mong ding ahileh,
And Gideon says to God, “If You are Savior of Israel by my hand, as You have spoken,
37 Hitichun neihetchet sah in, keiman tujan tengleh amulnei kelngoivun hi changvohna phol chunga kakoiding ahi. Hiche kelngoivun hi jingkah tengleh daitwi anachapnou inlang amavang tol hi anagotna hileh nasei banga chu Israel tehi huhdohna dinga neimanchah got ahite kahet chet nading hihen,” ati.
behold, I am placing the fleece of wool in the threshing-floor: if dew is only on the fleece, and dryness on all the earth—then I have known that You save Israel by my hand, as You have spoken”;
38 Hitobang chetchun thilchu anasoh doh tan ahi. Ajing jingkah chun Gideon amatah in athoudoh in kelngoivun chu aheh a ahileh twi khonkhat dimset ahungdoh in ahi.
and it is so, and he rises early on the next day, and presses the fleece, and wrings dew out of the fleece—the fullness of the bowl of waters.
39 Chujouchun Gideonin Pathen kommah hitin asei kit’e, “Neilunghan hihbeh in, thilkhat kathumbe nom nalaije. Hiche kelngoivun hi mangcha a hetchetna khat neipehbe nahlai ding kadeije. Tuchung hin hiche kelngoivun hi gotsah inlang, vella tol hi daitwi anachetsah in,” atin ahi.
And Gideon says to God, “Do not let Your anger burn against me, and I only speak this time; please let me try only this time with the fleece—please let there be only dryness on the fleece, and let there be dew on all the earth.”
40 Hiche jan jong chun Pathen’in Gideon ngeh bangchun ana bolkit peh kit in, kelngoivun agotsah in chule tollhang bou chu daitwi in ana chapkot in ahi.
And God does so on that night, and there is only dryness on the fleece, and there has been dew on all the earth.
