1 Joshua thinung in, Israelten Pakai koma “Canaan mite satdinga koi phung kon masa ding ham?” tin ana dongun ahi.
It happened after the death of Joshua, the children of Israel asked of the LORD, saying, "Who should go up first to fight for us against the Canaanites?"
2 Pakaiyin “Judah kon masa ding ahi, ajeh chu hiche gamhi amaho khut-a kana pehdohsa ahi,” ati.
The LORD said, "Judah should go up. Look, I have delivered the land into his hand."
3 Hijeh chun Judah’in asopipa Simeon koma chun, “Keima eikipe gamsunga Canaan mite toh kisat ding kahi, neihung kithopin chujouteng nangma naki pehna gam ajong chun gal gasat khomna hite,” ati. Hiti chun Simeon’in Judah chu akithopin ahi.
Judah said to Simeon his brother, "Come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with you into your lot." So Simeon went with him.
4 Judah miten galmi hochu aga nokhum’un ahileh Pakaiyin Canaan mitele Periz mite chu agal ajosah in chule Bezek khopia chun galmi sangsom athat un ahi.
Judah went up; and the LORD delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand: and they struck of them in Bezek ten thousand men.
5 Hiche Bezek muna chun Adoni-Bezek lengpa chu akisat piuvin galchu anajou un chule Canaan mite leh Periz mite jong ajou uvin ahi.
They found Adoni-Bezek in Bezek; and they fought against him, and they struck the Canaanites and the Perizzites.
6 Adoni-Bezek ajamdoh in, ahinlah Israelten ahin man un akhutpi leh akengpi hochu atanboh peh un ahi.
But Adoni-Bezek fled; and they pursued after him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes.
7 Adoni-Bezek’in, “Keiman phat khat in leng somsagi hochu akhutpiu leh akengpiu hochu kanatan peh in ka-an nehna dokhang noiya alhajah ho ananeovin, keiman amaho kanabol bangin tun Pathen’in keima eile thuhtai,” ati. Amachu Jerusalem'a ana puiyun hikoma chun ana thitan ahi.
Adoni-Bezek said, "Seventy kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, scavenged under my table: as I have done, so God has requited me." They brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.
8 Judah ten Jerusalem ana sat’un anajou'un agamu ana laovin amipite ana that gam’un chule akhopiu chu meiyin anahal-lha tauvin ahi.
The people of Judah fought against Jerusalem, and took it, and struck it with the edge of the sword, and set the city on fire.
9 Hiche jou chun achesuh uvin Negev leh lhumlam thinglhang gama cheng Canaan mite akisat piuvin ahi.
Afterward the people of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites who lived in the hill country, and in the Negev, and in the lowland.
10 Hiche jou chun Judah ten Hebron’a cheng Canaan mite agakisat piuvin, (Hiche Hebron hi tuma sanga chu Kiriath-arba anakiti ahi) hichea chun, Shesai, Ahiman le Talmai galmi ho jong chu anajou-un ahi.
And Judah went against the Canaanites who lived in Hebron, and Hebron came out in opposition (now the name of Hebron before was Kiriath Arba), and they struck Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.
11 Hichea kon chun amaho acheuvin Debir khopia chengho satdin akon tauve. Debir khopi jonghi masang chun amin Kiriath-sepher ana kitin ahi.
From there he went against the inhabitants of Debir. (Now the name of Debir before was Kiriath Sepher.)
12 Caleb in koi hileh Kiriath-sepher gasat'a ahin lajou penpen chu kachanu Acsah hi aji dinga kapeh ding ahi, ati.
Caleb said, "He who strikes Kiriath Sepher, and takes it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter as wife."
13 Caleb naopa Kenaz chapa Othniel’in aga jouvin, hijeh chun Acsah chu Othniel’in akichenpi tai.
Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter as wife.
14 Acsah in Othniel akichenpi jouchun, Othniel chun Acsah pa koma loumun khat thum ding in Acsah chun atil’in ahi. Hiti chun Acsah chu sangan chunga kona akum lhan, chuin Caleb’in “Ipi hitam?” tin ana dongin ahi.
It happened, when she came to him, that she got him to ask her father for a field. And she got off from her donkey, and Caleb said to her, "What would you like?"
15 Amanun jong “Thilkhat neipeh ben kati ahi, nang in Negev gam chu neipeh ahitah leh twinah phung khattoh neipeh than,” ati. Hichun Caleb in twinah achungnung leh anoinung jong apehben ahi.
She said to him, "Give me a blessing; since you have given me the land in the Negev, give me also springs of water." So Caleb gave her according to her heart the upper springs and the lower springs.
16 Judah phung miten lusolei khopi tia kihe Jericho khopi chu adalhah phat’un, Mose nupapa chilhah Ken mite chun Judah gamthip gama chun akilhonpi kit tauvin ahi. Hiti chun amaho chutoh Negev gamsunga Arad khopi koma chun agamsung mipiho chutoh agacheng khom tauvin ahi.
And the descendants of the Kenite, Moses' father-in-law, went up out of the city of palm trees with the people of Judah into the wilderness of Judah, which is in the Negev of Arad; and they went and lived with the people.
17 Hiche jouchun Judah chu Simeon toh apangkhom lhon in Zephath a cheng Canaan mite chu agasat lhon in, hiche khopi chu agasumang hel lhontan ahi. Hijeh chun hiche khopi chu Hormah anasah un ahi.
Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they struck the Canaanites who inhabited Zephath, and utterly destroyed it. The name of the city was called Hormah.
18 Hiche ban ajong chun Judah in Gaza, Ashkelon chule Ekron khopi holeh avela gamho chutoh alatha tauvin ahi.
Also Judah took Gaza with its territory, and Ashkelon with its territory, and Ekron with its territory, and Ashdod with its surrounding lands.
19 Pakai chun, Judah mite chu ana umpin hiti chun amahon thinglhang gam pumpi chu ana lokhum tauvin, ahivangin amahon sakol thih kangtalai mangchaa phaichama cheng hochu ana deldoh joupouvin ahi.
The LORD was with Judah; and drove out the inhabitants of the hill country; for he could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.
20 Mose’n ana thutep peh bangin Caleb chu Hebron ana peuvin ahi. Hiti chun Caleb in hiche muna cheng Anak chate chilhah thum hochu ana nodoh in ahi.
They gave Hebron to Caleb, as Moses had spoken. And from there he possessed the three cities, and he drove out from there the three sons of Anak.
21 Ahinlah Benjamin chaten vang Jerusalem’a chengho Jebus mite chu ana nodoh joupouvin, hijeh chun tuni geiyin Jerusalem khopia Jebus mitehi Benjamin mite toh achengkhom un ahi.
The people of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites who inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the people of Benjamin in Jerusalem to this day.
22 Joseph chilhah ten Bethel khopi anasat’un Pakaiyin ana umpiuvin ahi.
And the house of Joseph also went up against Bethel; and the LORD was with them.
23 Amahon khopi velhi dingin mi anasol'un (Tumasanga chu Luz ana kiti ahi).
And the house of Joseph sent out spies to Bethel. (Now the name of the city before was Luz.)
24 Amahon khopia kona hung potdoh mikhat chu ana kihou piuvin, “Hiche khopi lutna ding lampi neihil'un, achutileh keihon khotona kamusah diu nahi” atiuve.
And the spies saw a man coming out of the city, and they captured him, and they said to him, "Please show us the entrance into the city, and we will show you mercy."
25 Hiti chun aman alutna theidiu lampi chu ahil'in, amaho hiche lampi ah chun alut'un hiche khopi sunga umjouse chu abon'in athat un, hiche mipa chule ainsung mite sevang ahing hoijun ahi.
He showed them the entrance into the city; and they struck the city with the edge of the sword; but they let the man go and all his family.
26 Khonung in hiche mipa chu Hit mite gama aga chenglut’in, hichea chun khopi khat aphutdoh in, aman akhopi min chu Luz asah in tuni geiyin hiche minchu apuden tan ahi.
The man went into the land of the Hittites, and built a city, and called its name Luz, which is its name to this day.
27 Manasseh phungin Beth-shan, Taanach, Dor, Ibleam, Megiddo sunga cheng miho ahin, avel-uva chengho ahiuvin anodoh joupouvin ahi, ajeh chu hiche muna cheng Canaan mite chun hiche gamsunga chu chenden teiding anatup’u ahi.
Manasseh did not drive out the inhabitants of Beth Shean and its towns, nor Taanach and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns; but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.
28 Israelte chu ahung hatdoh phat’un, hiche Canaan mite chu sohna anatoh sah un, hinlah gamsunga kon chun adelmang jou pouvin ahi.
It happened, when Israel had grown strong, that they put the Canaanites to forced labor, and did not utterly drive them out.
29 Ephraim phung jong chun Gezer gamsunga cheng Canaan mite chu ana deldoh joupouvin, hiti chun Canaan mite chu amaho lah a chun achengjom tauvin ahi.
Ephraim didn't drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer; but the Canaanites lived in Gezer among them.
30 Zebulun phung miten jong Kitron leh Nahalol gamsunga chengho ana nodoh joupouvin, hiti chun Canaan mite chu alah uva chun achengden tauvin chule Canaan mite chu Zebulun’ten sohna atohsah tauvin ahi.
Zebulun didn't drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol; but the Canaanites lived among them, and became subject to forced labor.
31 Asher phung mite chun Acco, Sidon, Ahlab, Aczib, Helbah, Aphik chule Rehob gamsunga chengho anodoh joupouvin ahi.
Asher did not drive out the inhabitants of Acco, nor the inhabitants of Sidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob;
32 Ahin Asher phung mite chun hiche gamsunga anachengte Canaan mite chu anodoh joulou jeh uvin, alah uvah chun agachen lut tho tauvin ahi.
but the Asherites lived among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land; for they did not drive them out.
33 Hitobang machun Naphtali phung chun Beth-shemash leh Bath-anath gamsunga chengho ana nodoh joupouvin ahi. Hiti chun Canaan mite lah a chun ana chenlut tho-uvin ahi. Ahivangin, Beth-shamash leh Beth–anath mipite chu Naphtali mipite sohna anatoh sah un ahi.
Naphtali didn't drive out the inhabitants of Beth Shemesh, nor the inhabitants of Beth Anath; but he lived among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: nevertheless the inhabitants of Beth Shemesh and of Beth Anath became subject to forced labor.
34 Dan phung mite chu Amor miten thinglhang gama ale-nolut kit’un chule amaho chu phaicham ah ahung kumsuh tapouvin ahi.
The Amorites forced the people of Dan into the hill country; for they would not allow them to come down to the valley;
35 Amor mite chu Heres, Aijalon le Shaalbim mol lama chun chen den ding atup’un ahi. Hinlah Joseph insung chu ahung hatdoh phat’un Amor mite chu sohna atohsah tauvin ahi.
but the Amorites would dwell in Mount Heres, in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim: yet the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, so that they became subject to forced labor.
36 Amor mite gamgi chu Akrabbim a kon in Sela ajon in hichea kon chun chunglanga ajon toupeh in ahi.
The border of the Amorites was from the ascent of Akrabbim, from Sela and upward.
