< Joshua 7 >
1 Ahinla Israel’in sapset changsa thilho chungahin thupeh anapalkeh’un ahi. Achan kitipa hin sapset changsa thilho phabep chu ana gudohtan, hijeh chun Pakai chu Israel chungah analunghang lheh jengin ahi. Achan kitipa hi, Judaphung sunga Zerah chapa Zimri chilhah’a kon Carmi chapa ahi.
But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the devoted things; for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of the devoted things. Therefore the LORD's anger burned against the children of Israel.
2 Joshua’n Jericho a kon in, Beth’aven kom, Bethel solama um Ai khopi velhi dingin mi phabep asollin ahi.
Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth Aven, on the east side of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, "Go up and spy out the land." The men went up and spied out Ai.
3 Amaho ahung kile phatnun Joshua kommachun hitin aseijun ahi, “Eiho ibonnuva ichetouvu angaipoi ajeh chu hiche Ai khopi nokhumding khun mi sangni ahilouleh sangthum kal ngaiponte atiuvin ahi. Amahokhu lhomchabou ahiuvin eiho ibonchauva ichetoukhoh’u angaipoi atiuve.”
They returned to Joshua, and said to him, "Do not let all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and strike Ai. Do not make all the people to toil there, for there are only a few of them."
4 Hijeh chun mi sangthum tobang asollun ahileh gimneitah’in gal ahinlal tauvin ahi.
So about three thousand men of the people went up there, and they fled before the men of Ai.
5 Ai khomiten Israel hochu akhopiu kelkotna kon in Sheberim geijin ahin dellutnun lamsah lamma nungjam hochu mi somthum le gup tobang athatnun ahi. Hitobang thilsoh’a konhin Israelte chu kichatnan adimtauvin alungu adailheh jengtauvin ahi.
The men of Ai struck about thirty-six men of them, and they chased them from before the gate even to the Shebarim, and struck them at the descent. The hearts of the people melted, and became like water.
6 Joshua leh Israel upate jouse lunghemmin aponsillu abot-eh jengun, aluchanguvah leivui akinu’vin Pakai thingkong maija chun tolla abohkhup un nilhahlang geijin akisehgim jengun ahi.
Joshua tore his clothes, and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of the LORD until the evening, he and the elders of Israel; and they put dust on their heads.
7 Hichun Joshua akapjah jengun, “O Pakai Pathen hiche Amor mite thagamding bepma hi ipi dinga hiche Jordan hi neihinpui galkaiju ham? Hitiding sanga hi Jordan gallang khatna chu neichenden sah jenguleh itiaham?
Joshua said, "Alas, Lord GOD, why have you brought this people over the Jordan at all, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to cause us to perish? I wish that we had been content and lived beyond the Jordan.
8 Pakai, Israel hi agalmitea konna hi ajam theibepma ahileh ipi kaseithei dingham?
Oh, Lord, what shall I say, after that Israel has turned their backs before their enemies.
9 Ajeh chu, Canaan mitele hiche gamsunga cheng miteho hin hichehi ajahdoh phatnuleh, amahon eihin umkimvel’un tin hiche gam leisetna konna hi eisuhmang tah louding diuham? Chutengleh aming loupe jaangaina hi itiding hitam?” ati.
For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear of it, and will surround us, and cut off our name from the earth. What will you do for your great name?"
10 Ahinlah Pakaiyin Joshua kommah ahin seijin, “Kithoudoh loijin, ipi dinga bohkhupma kijamjeng nahiham?
The LORD said to Joshua, "Get up. Why are you fallen on your face like that?
11 Israel’in kakitepna asukeh’in sapset changsa thilho aguuvin, eijoulhepmun athilkeo lah’uva akoijun ahi.
Israel has sinned, and they have even transgressed my covenant which I commanded them. And they have even taken of the devoted things, and have also stolen, and also deceived. They have even put it among their own stuff.
12 Hichejeh a hi Israelte agalteu masanga dingjou louva gallel’a jamma ahiuve. Tuahi Israelte amaho jeng jonghi suhmang dinga umma ahitauve. Nalah’uva um sapset changsa thilkeoho chu nasuhmang lou’uleh keiman nangho kaumpi louding nahiuve.
Therefore the children of Israel can't stand before their enemies. They turn their backs before their enemies, because they have become devoted for destruction. I will not be with you any more, unless you destroy the devoted things from among you.
13 Thoudoh’in lang, jing nikho kigotna dingin namite hi amaho le amaho kisuhthengsah’in. Ajeh chu, Pakai Israel Pathennin aseije, O Israel, sapset changsa thilkeoho chu nalah’uva akiselden nalaije, hicheho hi nahinlahdoh tokah’uva galmasanga nadin joulou diu ahi.
Get up. Sanctify the people, and say, 'Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, for the LORD, the God of Israel, says, "There is a devoted thing in the midst of you, Israel. You cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the devoted thing from among you."
14 Jingkah tengleh naphung dungjuijuva nahung kigoldiu ahi, hiteng chuleh Pakaiyin achonsepa chu koiphung penna konham ti ahinphondoh ding ahi. Pakaiyin ahilhendoh phung chu aphungkhaija nahung kigoldohdiu, Pakaiyin achonse phungkhai chu ahin lhendoh ding ahi. Pakaiyin ahinlhendoh phungkhai chu hung kigoldiu achonse insung chu ahin lhendoh ding ahi. Ajonapen’a chu achonse insung mite chu khatkhatna hung kigoldohdiu ahi.
In the morning therefore you shall be brought near by your tribes. It shall be that the tribe which the LORD selects shall come near by families. The family which the LORD selects shall come near by households. The household which the LORD selects shall come near man by man.
15 Koi hileh hiche sapset chang thil ana gupen pen amatah chu aneijouse toh halvam thading ahi, ajeh chu aman Pakai kitepna chu apalkeh’a Israel chunga hitobang hamsetna chu achuhsah ahi,” ati.
It shall be, that he who is taken with the devoted thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he has, because he has transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he has done a disgraceful thing in Israel.'"
16 Joshua’n jong jingkah langin matah’in athouvin Israel phungho chu Pakai maijah ahin goldoh’in ahileh Judah phung chu matdoh ahitai.
So Joshua rose up early in the morning and brought Israel near by their tribes. The tribe of Judah was selected.
17 Hijeh chun Judah phungkhai chu ahung kigoldoh’in ahileh Zerah phungkhai chu akimandoh kittan ahi. Hichejou chun Zerah insungmi chu ahung kigoldoh’un ahileh Zimri insung chu matdoh ahitai.
He brought near the families of Judah; and he selected the family of the Zerahites. He brought near the family of the Zerahites man by man, and Zabdi was selected.
18 Zimri insung mite jouse chu amachang cheh khatkhat’in ahung kigoldoh’un ahileh Achan chu ahin mandoh tauvin ahi.
He brought near his household man by man, and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was selected.
19 Hichun Joshua’n Achan kommachun hitin aseije, “Kachapa, Israel Pathen loupina hi jana penlang thudihtah seijin, ipi bepseu nanabol hitam phongdoh’in lang, neiseipeh’in, imacha imhihbeh’in” ati.
Joshua said to Achan, "My son, please give glory to the LORD, the God of Israel, and make confession to him. Tell me now what you have done. Do not hide it from me."
20 Achan’in adonbutnin, “Adih’e, Pakai dounan kana chonsetai.
Achan answered Joshua, and said, "I have truly sinned against the LORD, the God of Israel, and this is what I have done.
21 Thil kichomdoh lah’a chun, Babylon pon hoitah khattoh, dangka shekel jani toh, shekel sangnga gih sana lhonkhat toh kamun ahileh kadeichan kana kilahtai. Hicheho chu kaponbuh sungah dangka chutoh tolla kavuijin ahi,” ati.
When I saw among the spoil a beautiful garment from Shinar, two hundred shekels of silver, and a bar of gold weighing fifty shekels, then I coveted them and took them. Look, they are hidden in the ground in the middle of my tent, with the silver under it."
22 Hichun Joshua’n akholtoh dingin mi phabep asollin, amaho acheuvin ahileh Achannin asei bangchun thil kiguho chu dangka chutoh akivuitha chu agamu’uvin ahi.
So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent. Look, it was hidden in his tent, with the silver under it.
23 Amahon ponbuh a konchun hiche thilho jouse chu ahinchoijun Israelte leh Joshua komma chun ahinchoijun, hicheho chu Pakai angsung tollhanga chun asekhommun ahi.
They took them from the middle of the tent, and brought them to Joshua and to all the children of Israel. They laid them down before the LORD.
24 Hichun Israelte leh Joshua’n Achantoh, dangka leh ponloupi, sanalhon toh, achapate le achanute, abongchal ho, asangan ho, akelngoiho le akeltah ho, aponbuh leh athilho jouse chu Achor phaichammah ahin polutnun ahi.
Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, the silver, the robe, the wedge of gold, his sons, his daughters, his cattle, his donkeys, his sheep, his tent, and all that he had; and they brought them up to the Valley of Achor.
25 Hichun Joshua’n Achan jah’a chun, “Ipi dinga nangin ilah’uva hi hitobang hamsetna hi nahin pohlut ham?” ati. Hichun Israelte jousen Achanleh ainsung mite chu song’in aseplih’un atahsa long’u meiyin ahalgam tauve.
Joshua said, "Why have you troubled us? The LORD will trouble you this day." All Israel stoned him with stones, and they burned them with fire and stoned them with stones.
26 Achan chunga chun songlom aseuvin tuni changgeijin aumjing nalaije. Hijeh chun hiche munchu hichenia patchun Lungkhamna Phaicham akisahtan ahi. Hichepet chun Pakai lunghanna chu adailhatai.
They raised over him a great heap of stones that remains to this day. The LORD turned from the fierceness of his anger. Therefore the name of that place was called "The Valley of Achor" to this day.
