< Joshua 17 >

1 Gamloding kihopna abannachu Joseph chillhah chamasa Manasseh phung akehkhat chu akipen ahi. Makir Manesseh chamasa chu Gilead dia apa ahi. Ama chilhah hohi galhatmi ahiyehun Jordan solam gamkaija um Gilead le Bashan chu anakipesa ahi.
There was also a lot for the tribe of Manasseh; for he was the firstborn of Joseph; that is, for Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead: because he was a man of war, therefore he had Gilead and Bashan.
2 Hitichun Jordan lhumlam gamkai Abizer, Helek, Asreil, Sechom, Hepher, chuleh Shemida hohi Manasseh phungkhai sung lah’a avatnalai insungho chan ding ahi. Hiche bahkhai hohin Joseph cha Manasseh chilhah pasalho thalheng ahiuve.
There was also a lot for the rest of the children of Manasseh by their families; for the children of Abiezer, and for the children of Helek, and for the children of Asriel, and for the children of Shechem, and for the children of Hepher, and for the children of Shemida: these were the male offspring of Manasseh the son of Joseph by their families.
3 Ahiyeng vang'in Manasseh chapa Makir, Makir chapa Gilead, Gilead chapa Hepher, Hepher chapa Zelophahad chu cha neilou ahin, aman chanubou aneiyin amaho minchu Malah, Noah, Haglah, Milcah chuleh Tirzah ahiuve.
But Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, but daughters: and these are the names of his daughters, Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.
4 Hiche numei hohi, thempupa Eleazer, Nun chapa Joshua, chuleh Israel lamkaiho kommah ahungun hitin ahungseijun ahi, “Pakaiyin, Mose jah’a eyhole kasopiteu pasalho gamlodi eipehdiovin thupeh anapen ahi” atiove. Hijeh chun Joshua’n jong ama hochu Pakai thupeh banga apa-ngahteo chan bangin gamchu anapen ahi.
And they came near before Eleazar the priest, and before Joshua the son of Nun, and before the princes, saying, The LORD commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brethren. Therefore according to the commandment of the LORD he gave them an inheritance among the brethren of their father.
5 Hijeh chun Manasseh chan apumpi chu Jordan vadung galla Gilead leh Bashan gamchan banna chu gamchan oma hung lhingtan ahi.
And there fell ten portions to Manasseh, besides the land of Gilead and Bashan, which were on the other side of Jordan;
6 Ajeh chu Manasseh chilhah numei hojong pasal chilhah chanto kibanga achanjeh’u ahi. (Gilead gamchu Manasseh chilhah pasal amoh ho kipeh ahi).
Because the daughters of Manasseh had an inheritance among his sons: and the rest of Manasseh’s sons had the land of Gilead.
7 Manasseh phung gamgichu Asher gamgi hina kon in Secheme kom Micmethath changei jin ahung kikholutnin ahi. Hichea konchun gamgichu Micmethath’a kon in achesuhin Tappuah twinah putna komma chenna munho geijin ahung kilhung lut in ahi.
And the land of Manasseh was from Asher to Michmethah, that lieth before Shechem; and the border went along on the right hand to the inhabitants of Entappuah.
8 Tappuah velkolla gamho chu Manasseh chan ahi. Manasseh gamgi a um Tappuah khopi tah vang chu Ephraim phung mite chan ahi.
Now Manasseh had the land of Tappuah: but Tappuah on the border of Manasseh belonged to the children of Ephraim;
9 Tappuah twinah putna akonnin Manasseh gamgi chun Kanah vadungneo chu ajuijin Meditteranean twikhanglen'ah alutnin ahi. Hiche vadungneo lhanglanga khopi phabep chu Manasseh gamsung ahi, ahinla hiche hochu atah beh’in Ephraim phungho chan ahi.
And the border descended to the river Kanah, southward of the river: these cities of Ephraim are among the cities of Manasseh: the border of Manasseh also was on the north side of the river, and the ends of it were at the sea:
10 Alhanglhon invang, hiche vadungneo lhanglam gamchu Ephraimte chan ahi, chuleh vadungneo sahlang gamchu Manasseh te chan ahi. Manasseh gamgi vadungneo sahlang gamkai chutoh akilhonin Mediterranean nah a atangin ahi. Manasseh sahlang chu Asher gam ahin chuleh sahlang vangchu Issachar gam ahi.
Southward it was Ephraim’s, and northward it was Manasseh’s, and the sea is his border; and they met together in Asher on the north, and in Issachar on the east.
11 Ahivangin Issachar le Asher gamgi sunga um khopi ho, Beth-shan khopi, Ibleam khopi, Dor khopi (Hichu Naphoth-dor), Endor, Taanach khopi chule Megiddo khopi holeh agamsunga cheng hojouse chu Manasseh chan din anakipe tan ahi.
And Manasseh had in Issachar and in Asher Bethshean and its towns, and Ibleam and its towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Endor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Taanach and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns, even three countries.
12 Ahinlah Manasseh chilhah chengse chun hiche khopi ho chu analalut joupou vin ahi. Amahon Canaan mite chu anadel-mang jou pouvin tuni geijin aum nalaijun hai.
Yet the children of Manasseh could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities; but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.
13 Ahinlah khonunga Israelte ahung hatdoh phatnuvin Canaan mite chu soh in amang taovin ahi. Ahinlah agam sunguva kon in anodoh joupouvin ahi.
Yet it came to pass, when the children of Israel had become strong, that they subjected the Canaanites to forced labour; but did not utterly drive them out.
14 Joseph chilhahte Joshua kommah ahungun hiti hin ahung dong’ui, “Pakaiyin hibanga eipunsahuva ipi dinga kachenna dio gamhi chan khatbou neipeh ham?”
And the children of Joseph spoke to Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I am a great people, forasmuch as the LORD hath blessed me until now?
15 Joshua’n adonbutnin “Nangho natamlheh jengtah uva Ephraim thinglhang gam nangho dinga aneotaha ahileh hiche Periz mitele Reph mite channa gammang lahkhu nangho dingin gakisuhtheng taovin atipeh in ahi.”
And Joshua answered them, If thou art a great people, then go up to the forest, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim is too small for thee.
16 Joseph chilhahte chun adonbutnin, “Thinglhang gamhi keiho dingin alhing joupoi katiu hi atahbeh ahi. Ahinlah Canaan mite gamnomma cheng holeh Jezreel phaichamma um hohin thih sakol kangtalai aneiyun, amahohi keihon kadoudio vin ahahsa valle atiove.”
And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Bethshean and its towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel.
17 Hichun Joshua’n Joseph chilhahte Ephraim le Manasseh phungmi teho kommah hitin aseije “Nanghohi natammuve nahatlheh jeng taove ahileh nangho dingahi chan khatval kipeding nahiuve.
And Joshua spoke to the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people, and hast great power: thou shalt not have one lot only:
18 Thinglhang gammang lahkhu nangho nachan bediu ahi. Nanghon nasuhtheng nom chanun gakisuhthengun agam lapen aningkoi changeijin galo tauvin phaichamma Canaan mite jeng jongkhu hatlheh uhenlang thih sakol kangtalai neijongleo ganodoh taovin,” ati.
But the mountain shall be thine; for it is a forest, and thou shalt cut it down: and the borders of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, and though they are strong.
