< John 11 >
1 Pasal khat amin Lazarus kitipa chu Bethany a cheng ahin, dammo na nei, chule asopiteni Mary leh Martha toh cheng khom ahi.
Now, one Lazarus, of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha, was sick.
2 Hiche numeinu Mary hi ahi, Pakai kengbul'a thao nu'a asama theh ngima chu;
(It was that Mary who anointed the Lord with balsam, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)
3 Chule amanin a-ucha lhon in Pakai Yeshua heng'a thu athot lhon'in hitin asei lhon e, “Pakai nangailut nasopi naloipa hi adammo lhehtai,” atilhon in ahi.
The sisters, therefore, sent to tell Jesus, Master, lo! he whom you love, is sick.
4 Hichu Pakai Yeshuan ajah chun hitin aseiyin, “Lazarus dammo nahi thina a kichai ding ahipoi, Pathen loupina dinga kibol'a ahibouve ati, hiche jeh a chu Pathen Chapa loupi na hungsoh doh dinga kitah lang joh ahi,” ati.
Jesus hearing it, said, This sickness will not prove fatal; but conduce to the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified by it.
5 Pakai Yeshuan, Mary, Martha leh asopipa Lazarus alungset lheh jeng vang chun;
Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
6 Hikom'a aum na mun'a chun Pakai Yeshua chu nini tobang aumbe nalaiyin ahi.
Having, then, heard that he was sick, Jesus staid two days in the place where he was.
7 Hichun aphat ahung lhin phat chun Pakai Yeshuan aseijui ho koma aseijin, “Eiho Judea gam langa kinungle kit tauhite ati.”
Afterward, he said to the disciples, Let us return to Judea.
8 Ahin aseijuiten lung opkai na aneiyun, “Rabbi, ni ijat ham khat masanga chu Judea gam'a mihon songa selih ding nagot'u chula em,” atiuve.
The disciples answered, Rabbi, but very lately the Jews would have stoned you, and you would return thither?
9 Yeshuan adonbut'in, “Nikhat sunga hi nidan som le ni niseh a um ahi, chule sun a hi mi jousen lam ajotthei cheh ding ahi. Chuleh amahon kho amuthei nau chu ahileh vannoi vah anei jeh'u ahi.
Jesus replied, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbles not: because he sees the light of the world:
10 Ahin, jantengleh tijat natah jong aumin, kipal lhuh na thei jong aumin ahi, ajeh chu vah aumji tapon ahi,” ati.
but if he walk in the night, he stumbles; because there is no light.
11 Hichun aman aseiyin, “Iloipau Lazarus a-imu lhatai” ati, “Amavang keima kache ding kaga thodoh ding ahi,” ati.
Having spoken this, he added, Our friend Lazarus sleeps; but I go to wake him.
12 Hichun seijuiten adonbut uvin, “Pakai, Lazarus chu a'imut leh damvah ding tina ahitai,” atiuve.
Then said his disciples, Master, if he sleep, he will recover.
13 Ahin seijui ho geldan'a chu kicholdo dinga a'imut aseiyin angaitouvin, ahin Pakaiyin asei chu Lazarus thi ahitai atina ahi.
Jesus spoke of his death; but they thought that he spoke of the repose of sleep.
14 Hichun Pakaiyin aseichet pehin, “Lazarus chu athitai.”
Then Jesus told them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
15 “Chuleh keima kakipah lheh e, ajeh chu nang hon natahsan theina dingu ahi, hijongle tun hungun ahenga cheu hite,” ati.
And on your account I am glad that I was not there, that you may believe; but let us go to him.
16 Hichun Thomas minlhem ni neipa chun aloi aseijui ho lah'a aseitan, “Eiho jong cheu hitin, chu a Pakai toh gathi khom'u hite,” ati.
Then Thomas, that is, Didymus, said to his fellow disciples, Let us go, that we may die with him.
17 Yeshua Bethany kho'a ahung lhun chun Lazarus chu lhan khuh'a avui nau ni li ahitai ti aseipeh uve.
When Jesus came, he found that Lazarus had been already four days in the tomb.
18 Bethany chu Jerusalem kom ahin, mile themkhat bouva gamla ahi;
Now, (Bethany being about fifteen furlongs from Jerusalem, )
19 Chuleh Judah le midang tamtah achekhom'un, Mary leh Martha amani lungmon sah dinga hung'ah anaum'un ahi.
many of the Jews came to Martha, and Mary, to comfort them on the death of their brother.
20 Hiti chun Martha in Pakai ahungtai tithu ajah phat'in amanu chu achen Pakai chu aga kimupin Mary vangchu inmun'ah aum dentai.
Martha having heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him; but Mary remained in the house.
21 Hichun Martha in Yeshua koma aseitai, “Pakai nangma hilai mun'a hi ana um hile chun kasopi pa hi thilou ding ahi” ati.
Then Martha said to Jesus, Master, if you had been here, my brother had not died.
22 Ahin tunjong Pathen in nathum chan napeh ding kahe nai ati.
But I know that even now, whatever you shall ask of God, God will give you.
23 Yeshuan amanu jah'a, “Nasopi pa thou kit ding ahi,” ati.
Jesus said to her, Your brother shall rise again.
24 Marthan adonbut'in, “Henge kanom'e, Ni nunung nia thokit nia atho doh kit ding chu kahe nai,” ati.
Martha replied, I know that he will rise at the resurrection, on the last day.
25 Hichun Yeshuan amanu jah'a hitin aseiye, “Keima hi thokitna le hinna chu kahi; chule koi hijongleh keima eitahsan chan chu thita jongleh thoudoh kit ding ahi.
Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes on me, though he were dead, shall live;
26 Chuleh koi hijong leh ahinga keima eitahsan a chu itih hijongle thilou ding ahi. Martha hiche hi na tahsan em?” ati. (aiōn )
and no man who lives and believes on me, shall ever die. Do you believe this? (aiōn )
27 Marthan adonbut'in, “Henge, Pakai Pathen katahsan'e, nangma hi Pathen Chapa Messiah vannoiya hung dinga chu nahi,” ati.
She answered, Yes, Master, I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, He who comes into the world.
28 Hiche chu asei jouvin achemang in asopinu Mary guhthimin akouvin, “Houhil chu hikoma aumin, nakouve,” ati.
Having said this, she went and called Mary, her sister, aside, saying, The Teacher is come, and calls for you.
29 Chuin Mary in hichu ajah jah in gangtah in akipat doh in ahenga achetai.
When Mary heard this, she instantly rose and went to him.
30 Pakai Yeshua chu khopam'a Martha toh akimu to nalhon a chu umnalai ahin;
Now Jesus had not yet entered the village, but was in the place where Martha met him.
31 Hichun mipi ho Mary lha mon dinga umhon ama akipat doh'a kino thethu'a adalhah chu amu'u chun Lazarus lhan khuh langa gakap dingin agel'un, hichun amahon Mary nung chu ajuiyun ahi.
The Jews, then, who were condoling with Mary in the house, when they saw that she arose hastily, and went out, followed her, saying, She is going to the tomb to weep there.
32 Hiti chun Mary chu Yeshua umna alhun phat'in ama chu amun akengphang bul'ah abohkhup jengin ajah'a, “Pakai nangma hikoma um hile chun kasopipa thi lou dinga,” ati.
Mary being come to the place where Jesus was, and seeing him, threw herself at his feet, saying, Had you be here, Master, my brother had not died.
33 Hichun Yeshuan amanu aka amun ahin lhonpi mipi ho jong chu akau amun alung sunga lunghem tah le pohnat na neitah in a um uvin ahi.
When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews weeping, who came with her, he groaned deeply, and was troubled,
34 Hichun Yeshuan ama ho chu adongin, “Hoiya nakoiyu hitam,” ati, mipi hon adonbut'un, “Pakai hungven,” atiuvin ahi.
and said, Where have you laid him? They answered, and said, Master, come and see.
35 Hichun Yeshua akaptai.
Jesus wept.
36 Hikom mun vel'a dingho chun aseiyun, “Veuvin iti angailut hitam,” atiuve.
The Jews, therefore, said, Mark how he loved him.
37 Ahin koitobang loichun hitin aseiyun, “Hiche pa hin mitcho ho kho amu sah hilou ham, chule Lazarus jong chu athida sah thei chula em,” atiuvin ahi.
But some of them said, Could not he who gave sight to the blind man, even have prevented this man's death?
38 Hichun Yeshua chun lhan khuh ahin phah chun lunghem tah in aum in; chuleh alhan chu kohom khat ahin, akot chu song khat'a kising ahi.
Jesus, therefore, again, groaning, came to the tomb. It was a cave, the entrance of which was shut up with a stone.
39 Yeshuan amaho jah'a aseiyin, “Song chu tangdoh'un,” ati. Chule athipa sopinu Martha chun ajah'a, “Pakai tun a uitai, ijeh inem itile ni li ahitai,” ati.
Jesus said, Remove the stone. Martha, the sister of the deceased, answered, Sir, by this time, the smell is offensive, for this is the fourth day.
40 Hijeh chun Yeshuan adonbut'in, “Natahsan'u leh Pathen loupi na namu dingu ahi kati hilou ham?” ati.
Jesus replied, Did I not say to you, If you believe, you shall see the glory of God?
41 Hichun amahon songpi chu atangdoh tauvin, hichun Yeshuan Vanlam aven “Pa nangman kataona na-ngai jeh in namin kathangvah e;
Then they removed the stone. And Jesus, lifting up his eyes, said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
42 Chuleh nangman kataona na-ngai jinge, ti keiman kahenai, ajeh chu kakimvel a mipi ding ho hin nangma sol kahi hi ahin tahsan thei na dinguva kati ahibouve,” ati.
As for me, I know that thou hearest me always; but I speak, for the people's sake who surround me, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
43 Hichun Yeshuan hasap tah in asam in, “Vo Lazarus, hung thou doh'in,” ati.
After these words, raising his voice, he cried, Lazarus, come forth!
44 Hichun Lazarus chu akhut akeng lhanpon a kitom pumin amai ultheh pon a kitom pumin lhan khuh a konin ahungdoh tan ahi. Hichun Yeshuan ajah uva, “Lhamun lang lamjot sah'un,” ati.
He who had been dead, came forth, bound hand and foot with fillets, and his face wrapped in a handkerchief. Jesus said to them, Unbind him, and let him go.
45 Hichun mipi tamtah Mary toh umjouse chun athilbol chu amu'uvin hichun Yeshua chu atahsan tauve.
Many, therefore, of the Jews, who had come to Mary, and seen what he did, believed on him.
46 Ahin mipi lah'a mi kimkhat acheuvin Pharisee ho jah a Yeshua thilbol chengse chu agasei tauve.
But some of the repaired to the Pharisees, and told them what Jesus had done.
47 Hijeh chun thempu pipui hole Pharisee ho houvaipo loi akikhom'un, “Eihon ipi ibol'u ham? Hichepa khun la melchihna tamtah abol jing jengin ahi.
Then the chief priests and the Pharisees assembled the Sanhedrim, and said, What are we doing? for this man works many miracles.
48 Eihon ama hi tua banga iche jomsah jingu le mi jousen ama ahin tahsan cheh cheh dingu, hiche teng chule Rome solkal in eiho inam'u ahin i-Houin'u ahin eisuhchimpeh dingu ahitai” atiuve.
If we let him go on thus, every one will believe on him, and the Romans will come and destroy both our place and our nation.
49 Hiche laiphat tah'a thempu a ana pang chu Caiaphas ahin aman hitin aseiye, “Nang hon nathu seiyu hi ipi kiseina ham nahe pouve ati.
One of them, named Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, You are utterly at a loss,
50 Chujongle vannoi pumpi aboncha aman thah louna dinga miho dinga mikhat athi nangho dinga phajo ahi, tijong nagel pouve,” ati.
and do not consider, that it is better for us that one man die for the people, than that the whole nation should be ruined.
51 Chuleh hiche ho hi Caiaphas in ama chama asei doh ahipon, thempu pipui hina'a gaova aphondoh'a, Pakai Yeshua hin vannoi nam jouse khel'a ahinkho apeh doh ding thu asei masah ahibouve.
This he spoke, not of himself; but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for the nation;
52 Chuleh Israel chate kisuh khom ding seh hilouvin, namtin jouse le Pathen chate jouse akikhop khoma pumkhat ahidoh na dinga jong ahi.
and not for that nation only, but that he should assemble into one body the dispersed children of God.
53 Hiti ahijeh chun, hichea pat chun Judaten Yeshua thana ding lung angaitouvin akihousom tauve.
From that day, therefore, they concerted how they might destroy him.
54 Hijeh chun Yeshua Judah ho lah'a lhangphongin avahle tapoi; chua kon chun Jerusalem adalhan, gamthip lama Ephraim khoa aseijui hotoh chua chun aum jing tauve.
For that reason, Jesus appeared no longer publicly among the Jews, but retired to the country, near the desert, to a city called Ephraim; and continued there with his disciples.
55 Chuleh Judahte kalchuh kut ahung naitan, hichun kut masanga kisutheng dingin gamsunga Judahte jousen, Jerusalem ahin jon cheh tauvin ahi.
Meantime, the Jewish passover approached, and many went to Jerusalem from the country, before the passover, to purify themselves.
56 Amahon Yeshua ahol'un, Houin vel'a adin uchun, khat le khat akihouvun, “Ipi na ngaito uvem? Yeshua chu kut'a hi hunglou ding ham?” akitiuve.
These inquired after Jesus, and said, one to another, as they stood in the temple, What do you think? Will he not come to the festival?
57 Hichun thempu pipui hole Pharisee hon, lhangphongtah in aphongun, koi hijongle Yeshua umna hea chun amat theina dinguva avetsah dinguvin mipi ho thu apeuvin ahi.
Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had issued an order, that whosoever knew where he was, he should make it known, that they might apprehend him.
