< Job 4 >

1 Teman mi Eliphaz chun Job chu adonbut in;
Then spake Eliphaz the Temanite, and said:
2 Keiman thukhat seijinge, nangaida ding ham? Koiham thusei louva eikoi ding chu?
If one attempt a word with thee, wilt thou be offended? But who can refrain from speaking?
3 Phat chesa ho ah nangin mitam tah natil khoujin, alhasam ho nana hatdohsah jin ahi.
Behold, thou hast admonished many; Thou hast strengthened feeble hands;
4 Alhu ding ho jong nangma thusei chun atilkhou jin ahi, akhup kithinghojong na tilkhou ji'e.
Thy words have upheld him that was falling, And thou hast given strength to feeble knees.
5 Ahinlah tua genthei nan nahin phah phat in lungthim nalhaso tai. Hiche hahsatnan nahin phah phat in kichat tijatnan nanei tai.
But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; It toucheth thee, and thou art confounded!
6 Na Pathen ginna chun tahsan detna napeh hilou ham? Nachon phatna chun kinepna napeh hilou ham?
Is not thy fear of God thy hope, And the uprightness of thy ways thy confidence?
7 Khongaijin lang chule ngaito temin, themona bei mi hithi ngaiji ham? Itih a milungtheng sel ho kisumang jiem?
Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished being innocent? Or where have the righteous been cut off?
8 Keithil hetna in vang hahsatna muchi tua kitu ho leh thilse bol hon thakhatna aga akilo cheh diu ahi.
According to what I have seen, they who plough iniquity, And sow mischief, reap the same.
9 Pathen hu haikhumchun asemgo jiuvin, alung hanna husa ginna chu mang del jiu ahi.
By the blast of God they perish, And by the breath of his nostrils they are consumed.
10 Keipi akitumin chule sangah in mi angih in ahin keipi thahattah hajouse kisubong ding ahi.
The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, And the teeth of the young lions are broken.
11 Sahing neh ding lhahsam jeh in keipi bahkai hang leiloijin kel athohjin chule keipi bahkai noute jong kithecheh diu ahi.
The fierce lion perisheth for lack of prey, And the whelps of the lioness are scattered abroad.
12 Hiche thutah hi guhthim chan kana benga mao hiuheu vin ei kisei peh e.
A word was once secretly brought to me, And mine ear caught a whisper thereof.
13 Mihem aimut lhuh pet tah jan laijin imut sunoh phah in hiche gaova mang thilmuna hi kahenga ahunge.
Amid thoughts from visions of the night, When deep sleep falleth upon men,
14 Kichatnan eiphan chule kagu kachang ho akithinge.
A fear and a horror came upon me, Which made all my bones to shake.
15 Thilha hun kamai ahin jap in chule akichaijin katimul ahungkithou sotsotne.
Then a spirit passed before my face, The hair of my flesh rose on end;
16 Thilha chu adingin ahinla kenla agongso kamuthei pon, agongso kamit teni masang kamaija agongso aum denne. Phat thip laitah chun hitia kisei o khat kajai.
It stood still, but its form I could not discern; An image was before mine eyes; There was silence, and I heard a voice:
17 Thithei mihem hi mona beija Pathen anga umtheija, asempa masanga athenga umtheiding hinam?
“Shall mortal man be more just than God? Shall man be more pure than his Maker?
18 Pathen in avantil ho jeng jong atahsan louva, athupole ho angol naova apho jia ahile,
Behold, he putteth no trust in his ministering spirits, And his angels he chargeth with frailty.
19 Nikhatna kisem mihem hi ichan gei tahsan na anei lhom ding ham? Amaho chu leivuija kisem bailam tah a suhchip thei mitthah tobangbep ahi.
What then are they who dwell in houses of clay, Whose foundation is in the dust, Who crumble to pieces, as if moth-eaten!
20 Amaho chu jingkah langleh ahing jiuvin ahinlah nilhah langleh athijiuvin, amelchihna beijin athiji tauve.
Between morning and evening are they destroyed; They perish for ever, and none regardeth it.
21 Aponbuh henna akibo lhuh teng leh apon buh u alhujin chule hetna lhasam in athiden ji tauve.
The excellency that is in them is torn away; They die before they have become wise.”
