< Job 15 >

1 Hichun Teman mipa Eliphaz in adonbut in;
Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,
2 Michingin hitobang thu hom keu chu donbut ponte. Nang hi imacha hilou nahin chule khohui hungnung bep nahi.
“Would a wise man answer with such empty ‘knowledge’ that is just a lot of hot air?
3 Michingin tang louva thu homkeu sei din akigo jipon, hitobang thu a chu ipi phatchomna um'em?
He wouldn't argue with unprofitable speeches using words that do no good.
4 Pathen ginna neilou nahim, ama dinga jana neilou nahi.
But you are doing away with the fear of God, and destroying communion with him.
5 Nachonsetna ho chun nakama ipi seiding ham ti naseipeh untin, nathucheng hohi joulhep themtah chunga kingam ahi.
It's your sins that are doing the talking, and you are choosing deceptive words.
6 Nangma kam tah chun themmo nachan sah ahin, kei kahipoi; namuh mama chun nang douna a thu asei ahi.
Your own mouth is condemning you, not me; your own lips are testifying against you.
7 Nanghi apeng masapen nahim? Molle lhang ho kisem masanga peng nahim?
Were you the very first person to be born? Were you born before the hills were created?
8 Pathen in guhthima nahilna ho nangai hinam? Chihna chu nangma tum dinga nanei hinam?
Were you there listening in God's council? Does wisdom only belong to you?
9 Keihon kahet louvu ipi nahetna, keihon kahet khen theilouvu nangin nahet khen thei um'em?
What do you know that we don't? What do you understand that we don't?
10 Keiho langa hin upa tah tah samkangsa apangun amaho chu napa sanga hatah a tahjo ahiuve.
We have among us old, gray-haired people much older than your father!
11 Pathen in nalhamon chu nang dinga neo behseh a ham? Nemma athusei chu lhing joulou ham?
Are the comforts God provides too little for you? Are God's gentle words not enough for you?
12 Naki gellhah na chu ipin nalah mang peh ham? Na khomu theina chu ipin alhahsam sah ham?
Why do you let yourself be carried away by your emotions?
13 Hiti chun Pathen dounan nakihei mangin, chule hitobang thuphalou hi naseije.
Why do your eyes flash in anger that you turn against God and let yourself speak this way?
14 Thithei khat tou chu theng theijem? Numeija pengdoh mihem chu adih a umthei ding ham?
Who can say they are clean? Which human being can say that they do what is right?
15 Ven Pathen in vantil ho jeng jong atahsan joupoi, ama mitmu in vanho jeng jong athengsel poi.
Look, God doesn't even trust his angels—even the heavenly beings are not pure in his sight!
16 Chonsetna dimho leh lheplhahna dimho leh gitlouna a dangchah ho chu ichan geijin thenna alhasam tadem?
How much less pure are those who are unclean and corrupt, drinking in sin like water!
17 Kathusei nangai dingle keiman navet sah inge, ken katahsa tah a kahet ho a kon in nadonbut inge.
If you are ready to listen to me, I will show you. I will explain my insights.
18 Apa teuva konna hiche thu mama hi ajah uva, michingho hetsah dungjuija hiche hi kisudet ahi.
This is what wise men have said, confirmed by their ancestors,
19 Gamdang miho hunglhun masang sot laipeh a chu koiham khat hitobang ho a konna gamkhat ana kipe ahi.
those who to whom alone the land was given before foreigners ever were there.
20 Migiloupa chu ahinkho lhum keijin nat gim genthei thoh in akipeh peh in lungsetna neilou ho dingin hahsat gentheina kum jat tamtah kikhol ahi.
The wicked writhe in pain all their lives, through all the years these oppressors survive.
21 Ama banga kichat tijatna O aging jingin chule nikho phaho jeng jong misumang hon ahin delkhum dio kichatnan aneiye.
Terrifying sounds fill their ears; even when they think they're safe, the destroyer will attack them.
22 Muthim lah a chedoh ding amahon angapcha pouve, kichatna jeh a amahon tol atha dingu ahi.
They don't believe they will escape the darkness—they know a sword is waiting for them.
23 Gamtinah avahle leuvin changlhah hoiya kakimu ding ham tin aseijuve. Amahon amanthah nadiu nikho anaije ti aheuve.
They wander around looking for food, asking ‘Where is it?’ They know that their day of darkness is close at hand.
24 Muthim nikhon amaho chu akichatsah uvin, galkon dinga kigong lengpa bangin lung gentheina leh lung natna dimset in ahing uve.
Misery and torment overwhelm them like a king preparing for battle.
25 Hatchungnung pa asuhboh uva Pathen akhut u athin khum jeh u chun,
They shake their fists in God's face, defiantly challenging the Almighty,
26 Alummu hattah chu akichoijun amadou nan isah loutah in anokhum jiuve.
insolently attacking him with their shields.
27 Migiloute chu athaovun chule sumle paijin akhangtou cheh cheh un akongu jong athaovin apom doh sah uve.
They have become fat in their rebellion, their bellies bloated with fat.
28 Ahinlah akhopi hou hi kisumang thah ding ahin, amaho chu dalhahsa ingemma hung chenguva; sotlhuh ding sa a um cheh ahiuve.
But their cities will become desolate; they will live in abandoned houses that are crumbling into ruins.
29 Ahaosat nau jong sot tapontin, anei agou hou sot ponte; anei agouho jong kolmong geijin hung kikho khong soh taponte.
They will lose their riches, their wealth will not endure, their possessions will not spread over the earth.
30 Muthim lah a konin jamdoh thei pouvin tin, ajih hung dondoh ho jong nisan halgop intin chule Pathen hu haikhum chun amaho asuhmang ding ahi.
They will not escape from the darkness. Like a tree whose shoots are burned up in a forest fire, the breath of God will blow him away.
31 Haosatna homkeu tahsanna chun amaho leh amaho kilhem lha sot tapou vintin, amaho dinga akipaman u chu ahomsa hiding ahi.
They should not trust in things that are worthless, for their reward will be worthless.
32 Ahinkhou hoilai tah le thingbah kilhamlha bangin kisat lhauvin tin abah hou jong avellin hung engdoh kit tapou vinte.
This will be paid in full before their time has come. They are like tree branches that wither,
33 Amaho chu lengpi phung aga matah a kilou lha bangle Olive thingphung aga kisem masanga apah pullha bang diu ahi.
like vines that lose their unripe grapes, or olive trees that lose their flowers.
34 Ijeh inem itile Pathen neiloute chu ahomkeu ahiuvin, nehguh chahguh a haosa ho in chu kavam ding ahi.
For those who reject God are barren, and fire will burn up the homes of those who love bribes.
35 Amahon boina naovop bangin avop un chule gitlouna ahing doh jiuve. Anaobu houvin joule nal asodoh uve.
They plan trouble and produce evil, giving birth to deception.”
