< Jeremiah 40 >
1 Babylon gam’a sohchang ding’a, Jerusalem mite leh Judah mite toh thihkhao’a akihen nauva kon’a, in-ngahpa Nebuzaradan in Jeremiah chu Raman kha, alhadoh jou nung chun, Pakai thusei Jeremiah heng’a ahung lhung in,
The word that came unto Jeremiah from the Lord, after Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had dismissed him from Ramah, when he had taken him as he was bound in chains in the midst of all the exiles of Jerusalem and Judah, who were carried away into exile unto Babylon.
2 In-ngah lamkaipan, Jeremiah akouvin ajah’a “Pakai na-Pathen chun, hilaimun douna-a hibang hamsetna ana phondoh bangchun, aguilhun sahtai.
Then took the captain of the guard Jeremiah, and said unto him, The Lord thy God had spoken this evil over this place;
3 Ijeh inem itileh, hiche mite hi, Pakai dounan achonseuvin, chule athusei jong angaipeh pouve. Hiche jeh’a chu achung'uva hibang thilse hi hunglhung ahitai.
Now the Lord hath brought it [to fulfillment], and hath done according as he had spoken; because ye had sinned against the Lord, and had not hearkened to his voice; and therefore is this thing come upon you.
4 Ahin, keiman nakihenne thihkhao nasutpeh ingting, chule kalha-ong ding nahitai. Keitoh kilhon’a, Babylon gam’a cheding pha nasahle, hungin, keiman ijakai navetup nange. Ijemtia hilai mun’a umden ding pha nasah jongle, akhohpoi. Ven, hiche gam leiset pumpi hi na-ang sung’a aum’e, nadei deya nache thei ahi.
And now, behold, I have freed thee this day from the chains which were upon thy hand. If it seem good in thy eyes to come with me to Babylon, come, and I will direct my eye unto thee; but if it seem ill in thy eyes to come with me to Babylon, forbear: behold, all the land is before thee; whither it seemeth good and proper in thy eyes to go, thither go.
5 Hilai mun’a umdending nakigel lhah le, Babylon lengpan Judah gam khopi jouse chung’a vaipo ding’a apansah Ahikam chapa Gedaliah, Shaphan tupa kom’a chekittan. Ama kom’a naum’a chule mipi lah’a nachenthei ahi. Achutilou jongle, nangma nop nop’a na umthei ahitai, ati. Hichun, in-ngah pa Nebuzaradan in, Jeremiah chu nehding themkhat toh sum apen, asoldoh tai.
And as he did not yet turn about, [he said, ] Go then back to Gedalyah the son of Achikam the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath appointed governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him in the midst of the people; or wheresoever it seemeth proper in thy eyes to go, go. And the captain of the guard gave him an allowance and a present, and then dismissed him.
6 Chuin Jeremiah jong Hikam chapa Gedaliah umna Mizpah mun’a achetai. Chukom’a chun, amoh akidalha mi phabep chutoh achengkhom tauve.
So did Jeremiah come unto Gedalyah the son of Achikam to Mizpah; and he dwelt with him in the midst of the people that had been left in the land.
7 Thinglhang lang’a pansa, Judah mite ding’a galbol lamkai ho chun, Judah gamsung’a vaipo dingin Hikam chapa Gedaliah chu, Babylon lengpan apansah in, ama khut’a chun, sohchang’a kikailou dalhah’a um pasal ho, numeiho, chapangho chule avaicha dehset ho jouse chu apeluttai, tithu ajatauvin ahi.
Now when all the captains of the armies who were in the field, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedalyahu the son of Achikam governor over the land, and that he had entrusted unto him men, and women, and children, and these of the poorest of the land, of those that had not been carried away into exile to Babylon:
8 Hijeh chun, Gedaliah toh kimuto dingin amaho chu, Mizpah mun’a acheuvin ahi. Amaho chu: Nathaniah chapa Ismael, Karieh chapa teni Johanan le Jonathan, Tanhumeth chapa Seraiah, Ephai chapate, Ma-acath chapa Jezariah chule amaho noiya um amiteu jouse ahiuve.
Then came they to Gedalyah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethanyahu, and Jochanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareach, and Serayah the son of Tanchumeth, and the sons of 'Ephai the Netophathite, and Yezanyahu the son of a Ma'achathite, they and their men.
9 Hichun, Gedaliah akihahsel in, ajah uva, Babylon mite chu miphalou ahipouve. Amaho kin bolding chu kicha hih un, gamsung’a cheng uvin lang, Babylon lengpa kin boljeng uvin, hichu nangho dia aphapen hiding ahi, ati.
And Gedalyahu the son of Achikam the son of Shaphan swore unto them and unto their men, saying, Have no fear to serve the Chaldeans: remain in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it will be well with you.
10 Keivang, nangho jouse thalheng’a, eiho kimupia hungding Babylon mite angsung’a ding dia, Mizpah mun’a kachen ding ahi. Nangho vang, nachenphanau munhoa chun chengden unlang, lengpithei galeh nipilai theiga chule Olive theiga ho kilo khom uvin lang chule bel sung’a kikoitup uvin, ati.
As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans, who will come unto us; but ye, gather ye together wine, and summer-fruits, and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities of which ye have taken possession.
11 Hiti chun, Judah mite Moab gam’a, Ammon gam’a, Edom gam’a chule gamdang dang’a thamho chun, Babylon lengpan mi phabep Judah gam’a adalhan, chule gamsung pumpia vaipo ding in Gedaliah apansah’e ti ajatauvin ahi.
And so likewise all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the children of 'Ammon, and in Edom, and that were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant unto Judah, and that he had appointed over them Gedalyahu the son of Achikam the son of Shaphan;
12 Hichun, amaho chu akithecheh nau gamho’a kon’in, ahung kile kit uvin, Judah gamsung ahinjon kittauve. Amahon Mizpah kho’a Gedaliah ahung kimupiuvin; chua kon chun, thnglhang gam lang ajon uvin, lengpi theiga leh theiga chom chom ho aloukhom un, amaho ding in tampi akikhol tauvin ahi.
And then did all the Jews return out of all places whither they had been driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedalyahu, unto Mizpah, and gathered together wine and summer-fruits in very great abundance.
13 Hiche nung sotlouvin, Kariah chapa Johanan leh galbol lamkai phabep, Mizpah kho’a Gedaliah jeh’a,
And Jochanan the son of Kareach, and all the captains of the armies that were in the field, came to Gedalyahu to Mizpah,
14 Amahon Gedaliah jah’a, “Ammon lengpa Boalis in nang that ding in Nathaniah chapa Ismael ahinsol e, ti thuhi, nangman nahetlou ham?” ahung tiuve. Gedaliah chu amaho thusei chu atahsanpoi.
And they said unto him, Dost thou at all know that Ba'alis the king of the children of 'Ammon hath sent Ishmael the son of Nethanyah to deprive thee of life? But Gedalyahu the son of Achikam believed them not.
15 Hichun Johanan in, atumbeh in Gedaliah akimupin, amatah chu Ismael thatdoh dingin akipedoh in ahi. Aman Gedaliah jah’a “Ibol’a Ismael in nang namoh tha jeng ding ham? Judah mite hijat hung kilekit’a nang nahinbel ho iti ding ham? Dalhah um eiho amoh chengse jonghi, imoh manthah jengdiu ham?” ati.
And Jochanan the son of Kareach said to Gedalyahu secretly in Mizpah, as followeth, Let me go, I pray thee, and I will slay Ishmael the son of Nethanyah, and no man shall know of it: wherefore should he deprive thee of life, whereby all the Jews who are gathered unto thee would be scattered, and the remnant of Judah be lost?
16 Ahivang in Gedaliah in Johanan jah’a “Nasei hi nabollou hel ding ahi. Ajeh chu nangman Ismael chungthu hi, jou nasei ahibouve,” ati.
But Gedalyahu the son of Achikam said unto Jochanan the son of Kareach, Thou shalt not do this thing; for thou speakest a falsehood concerning Ishmael.
