< Jeremiah 14 >
1 Hiche hi, go-twi hahsat jeh’a, Jeremiah henga Pakai thusei hunglhung chu ahi.
The word of Jehovah, which came to Jeremiah concerning a drought.
2 Judah alung hem in; Akhopi jousea mi athi athin, khopi kot jouse akikhah gamtai. Amite jouse tollhanga akijam’un, akap kap uve. Jerusalem mite panpi ngaicha a kanau ogin a kithonge.
Judah mourneth, And the gates thereof languish; They are in deep mourning upon the ground. And the cry of Jerusalem goeth up.
3 Milen milal hon, asohteu twi hol in asol un, ahinlah twikul leh twinah ho abon'in akang gamtai. Asohteuvin twila amijou pouvin, bel keovin akile kit un, a lungdon man’un ponlu akikhuh lo tauve.
The nobles send their younger ones for water; They come to the wells, they find none; They return with their vessels empty; They are ashamed and confounded; They cover their heads.
4 Go ajuh tahlou jeh in, tol agotan apohkhi gamtai. Loubol ho jong alunggim behseh uvin, vetna ding helouvin aumtauvin ahi.
Because of the ground, which is in consternation, No rain falling upon the earth, The husbandmen are ashamed, They hide their heads.
5 Gamlah a hamhing aumtapon, Sakhipin jong anou pengthah chu adalha jeng tai.
Even the hind in the field is delivered, And deserteth her young, Because there is no grass.
6 Gam sangante jong lhangvum’a achailaiya ading leuvin, Ngei-hon te bang in hui ahop hel hol uve. Neh ding hamhing umlou, kel athoh thoh jeh un, amit uvin kho amugamtapoi.
The wild asses stand upon the hills, They snuff up the wind like jackals; Their eyes fail, Because there is no grass.
7 Kamite kahenga ahung taovun, Kachonset nau jouse ahung kilangdoh jengtai, Vo Pakai! Hijongle, nangma min suhminset’a aumlou nadin, nangman nabol ding chu boljeng inlang, keiho jong neilungset’un neipanpiuvin. Ajeh chu keiho nangma douna kachonse behseh tauve.
Though our iniquities testify against us, Yet do thou, O Jehovah, act from a regard to thine own name. For our transgressions have been many; We have sinned against thee.
8 O Pakai, Israel kinepna! Hahsat genthei nikhoa eipanpiu nangbou nahi, ibol’a namite lah’a kholgam mi banga naum ham? Ipi dinga maljin vahle, jankhat tou gehpa banga naum ham?
O thou hope of Israel, His saviour in the time of trouble, Why wilt thou be as a stranger in the land, As a traveller who spreadeth his tent to pass the night?
9 Ipi dinga nangma lungdong tah banga naum a, Thahat pen nahin, ima boljoulou banga naum hitam? O Pakai, nangma kalah uva naum jingin, keiho namite kahiuve. Donlouvin neikoi hih’un, atiuve,” ati!
Why wilt thou be as a man that is amazed, As a hero that cannot save? Thou art in the midst of us, O Jehovah, And we are called by thy name; Do not forsake us!
10 Chuin Pakaiyin a mite jah a hitin aseiye, “Nanghon keiya kon’a gamlatah’a jamdoh ding bou nadeiyun, chule nakitim jou pouve. Hijeh chun, nachunguva kalung alheipoi. Keiman na chonsetnau jouse ka geldoh jing ding, chule hiche ho jeh’a chu na chunguva talen kamatsah teiding nahiuve,” ati.
Thus saith Jehovah concerning this people: Thus they love to wander, They restrain not their feet; Therefore Jehovah doth not accept them; Now will he remember their iniquities, And punish their sins.
11 Hichun Pakaiyin kajah’a, ‘Hiche mite ding in taoda tan,’ ati.
Then said Jehovah to me: Pray not for this people for their good!
12 Amahon an ngol’u hen, kap jongleu, ataonau kasanpih louding: Pumgo thilto leh lhosoh thilto hinchoi jongleu, kasanpih loudiu ahi. Amaho chu, chemjam leh gilkel a chule natna hisea kasuh gamdiu ahi,” ati.
Though they fast, I will not hear their cry; Though they offer burnt-offerings and flour-offerings, I will not accept them; But by the sword, and by famine, and by pestilence, I will make an end of them.
13 Chuphat in kenjong, “Vo Pakai Hatchungnung, vetan, athemgao houvin mipite jah’a “gamsung a cham leng ding, gal leh kel umlou ding, Pakaiyin cham leh lungmon thonlouva ahin lhunsah ding ahi, atibouve,” kati.
Then said I, Alas! O Lord Jehovah! Behold, the prophets say to them, “Ye shall not see the sword, Nor shall famine come upon you; But Jehovah will give you lasting peace in this place.”
14 Hichun Pakaiyin ei donbut in, “Hiche themgao ho chun, kamin’a jouthu jeng agaovu ahi. Keiman amaho sol jong kasolpon, chule ahenguva thupeh jong kaneipoi. Gaothu aphon’u jong jou le nal’a mi lhepna-a, asemthu’u ahibouve.
Then said Jehovah to me: The prophets prophesy lies in my name; I have not sent them, nor commissioned them, nor spoken to them; A false vision, and divination, and vanity, And the fraud of their hearts, do they prophesy to you.
15 Hijeh chun Pakaiyin hitin aseiye, “Jou le nal’a gaothu phong ho chu, keiman talen kamatsah tei ding ahi. Ajeh chu keima min in, gal le kel hung lhung lou ding ahi, atiuvin; Keiman amaho abonchauva gal le kel thoh’a kathigam sah dingu ahi.
Therefore thus saith Jehovah concerning the prophets Who prophesy in my name, though I sent them not, But who themselves say, “The sword and famine shall not be in this land”: By the sword and by famine shall those prophets be consumed.
16 Chule amahon gaothu aseipih miho jong, gal le kel a, thigamdiu; Jerusalem kholai dunga atahsau chu kipaithang soh diu, avuidiu ding koima umlou ding ahi. Ajeh chu agitlounau jouse chu amaho chung’a kalebuh lhah khum diu, abonchauva ajiteu leh achateu pum’a mangthah gamdiu ahi.
And the people to whom they prophesy Shall be cast forth in the streets of Jerusalem By means of famine and the sword; And they shall have none to bury them, —They, their wives, and their sons, and their daughters; For I will pour their wickedness upon them.
17 Hichun Jeremiah in hitin aseiye, “Sun le jan in kamit lhi long long jeng hen, tangmo hel in kap inge. Ajeh chu, kamite melse tah in amachangun, thidingin natna athoh uve.
Thus also shalt thou speak to them: My eyes shall run down with tears night and day; They shall not cease; For a deep wound hath she received, The virgin daughter of my people, A deadly blow.
18 Keima loujaova kaga chele, gal’a kithat thilong jeng katoh in: khopi sung a kalut leh kel lhah jeh’a, natna leh thina toh mipite kamun. Themgao hole thempuhon atoh ngaiyu atong un, ahinlah amahon ipi abol'u ahi, akihetdoh pouve, “ati.
If I go forth into the fields, Then behold them that are slain by the sword! And if I enter the city, Then behold them that pine with famine! Both prophet and priest wander about the land, they know not whither.
19 Vo Pakai Judah mite na pumpai hitam? Nangman Jerusalem mite nakidah’a nahot tah tah hitam? Ibol a hibang nasa-a neimavouva, keiho dinga boldamna phat umlou hitam? Keihon chamna muding kakinem’un, ahinlah chamna ahunglhung poi. Keihon damna ding nikho kangah un, ahivangin kichat tijatnan eilhunden jouve.
Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? Doth thy soul abhor Zion? Why hast thou smitten us, so that there is no healing for us! We look for peace, and there is no good, For a time of healing, and behold, terror!
20 Vo Pakai, keiholeh kapu kapateu chonset gitlouna ho jouse na-ang’ah kahin phonguve. Keiho kabonchauvin, nang dounan ka chonse tauve.
We acknowledge, O Jehovah, our wickedness, And the iniquity of our fathers; For we have sinned against thee.
21 Nangma min khohsah jallin, keiho nei paimang hih uvin, Na lengtouna loupitah chu, jabollouvin umsah hih in. Kachunguva nakitepna geldoh jing inlang, sukeh loujen in, Vo Pakai.
Do not spurn us, for thy name's sake! Do not dishonor thy glorious throne! Call to mind, break not, thy covenant with us!
22 Doilim semthu namdang ho pathen in go ajuhsah theiyem? Vanthamjol khun ama cham”a go ahin juh lhah sah theiyem? Vo Pakai, nangbou ka pathen’u nahin, thil ijakai bolthei chu nangma bou nahi. Hijeh’a chu keiho nangma-a kinem’a, neikithopinau ngahjing’a um kahiuve.
Are there among the vanities of the nations any that can cause rain? Or can the heavens give showers? Art not thou he, O Jehovah, our God? Therefore in thee will we trust, For thou hast made all these things!
