< Isaiah 17 >

1 Damascus chung chang thu’a hitihin thuhil ahunge: ven, Damascus khopi hi hungmang thah ding ahi! Mangthai thil kise lom hung hiding ahi.
The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from [being] a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
2 Aroer khopiho dalhah in hung um mintin, kelngoi hon lhat lena a aneidiu chuleh asuboi diu umlouva kol diu ahi Anodoh ding mijong umlou ding ahi.
The cities of Aroer [are] forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make [them] afraid.
3 Israel kulpi sunga um khopi ho jong suhmangin hung um intin, Damascus leng thanei najong kisubei ding ahitai. Syria'a amoh chengsen Israel chate loupina kinung lahpeh dinmun hung chang diu ahi,” tin van janel Pakai chun aphongdoh tai.
The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts.
4 Hiche nikho teng chuleh Israel loupina hung thim cheh cheh intin; a tahsa hoi na jong moh man jeng ding ahi.
And in that day it shall come to pass, [that] the glory of Jacob shall be diminished, and the fatness of his flesh shall become lean.
5 Chang le min aki khoptup jouteng leh agamsung chu chang le mim lou hung bang ding ahi. Mi chen louna gamthip hintin, Rephaim phaichama chang le mim ki khoptup jouva lou ho hung bang ding ahi.
And it shall be as when the harvest-man gathereth the corn, and reapeth the ears with his arm; and it shall be as he that gathereth ears in the valley of Rephaim.
6 Amite hon lhomcha bou dalhah a umdiu, theichang tamtah kilo nunga lamvai tah a lhang themkhat kikhen bang diu ahi. Ni ham thum ham abah sangpenna um muntin, li le nga chu abah noilanga ana kithethang inte,” tin Pakai, Israel Pathenin aseije.
Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive-tree, two [or] three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four [or] five in the outmost fruitful branches of it, saith the LORD God of Israel.

At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.
8 Milim semthu hoa kona panpina avet tah loudiu, akhut tah uva asemu milim hojong ahoutah loudiu ahi. Asherah chunga jong bohkhup talou heldiu, milim houna ding asah u houin sunga jong ahou tah louhel diu ahi.
And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect [that] which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images.
9 Akho piu lentah ho gammang koima umna lou bangding, Israel te phat masa peh a ahunglut jeh uva Hivites teleh Amor miten adalhah u gam bang ding ahi. Mi chenlouna gammang nasatah hiding ahi.
In that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be desolation.
10 Ipi jeh enem itileh nahuhhing thei Pathen akonin na kihei mange. Nasel thei songpi chu na sumil tai. Man neitah muchi ho nahin poh lut theija, lengpi thei phatah na tu thei nading ahi.
Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with foreign slips:
11 Na phu nikho leh ahung kedoh pai thei nading; Ahi, na tuni jingkah mama leh ahung pah lhah thei nading, ahin lengpithei ga khatcha loding umlou ding ahi. Khop tup ding nanei chasun chu lung gentheina dimset leh thoh joulou natna hiding ahitai.
In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish: [but] the harvest [shall be] a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.
12 Ngaijin! Chitin namtin galsat sepai ho twi khanglen gin kithong leng lung banga agin lullul u khu. Ngaijin thahattah'a hung kithong jenjun ho khu twi khanglen kinon gin abangu ve.
Woe to the multitude of many people, [who] make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, [that] make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!
13 Ahin twi khanglen pang sukeh gin kithong bang jongleu, Pathenin asuhthip diu, chuleh amaho chu lhaimang diu ahi. Hui jin changvai amutcheh bang diu, ching peijin leivui apeimang tobang ding ahi.
The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but [God] will rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.
14 Nilhah teng Israel in tijah tah a angajing diu, ahin kho hung vahteng agalmi ho u ana thiji taove. Hiche hi eichom hou dihtah a achandiu dol changu va ahin, eisumang hou chan dinga lom chang uva ahi.
And behold at the time of evening trouble; [and] before the morning he [is] not. This [is] the portion of them that ravage us, and the lot of them that rob us.
