< Ezra 10 >

1 Hitia hi Ezra in Pathen Houin masanglang ngatna tolla amai bohkhup a, kap pum’a chonset phong’a ataopet hin Israel mipi lah a kon’in mihon tamtah pasal, numei chuleh chapangte geijin ahung kikhom’un lung natah in amatoh akapkhom taovin ahi.
Now while Ezra was making his prayer and his statement of wrongdoing, weeping and falling down before the house of God, a very great number of men and women and children out of Israel came together round him: for the people were weeping bitterly.
2 Hichejou chun. Elam chilhah Jehiel chapa Shecaniah chun Ezra kommah hitin ahinsei tai, “Eiho hin I Pathennu masangah ikitah jou tapouve ajeh chu eihon hou neilou agamsunga cheng numeiho ikichenpi taove. Ahiyeng vang'in Israelte in kinepna aum nalaije.
And Shecaniah, the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answering, said to Ezra, We have done evil against our God, and have taken as our wives strange women of the peoples of the land: but still there is hope for Israel in this question.
3 Tun eihon I Pathen utoh kitepna khat neiju hitin hichea hou neilou ijiteuhi da-gam jengu hitin achateu pum’in soldoh jengu hite. Keihon nangma le Pathen daanthu nitna neiho thupeh hi jui tao vinge.
Let us now make an agreement with our God to put away all the wives and all their children, if it seems right to my lord and to those who go in fear of the words of our God; and let it be done in keeping with the law.
4 Thoudoh inlang namopohna dungjuijin thil hohi suhtoh na dinga iti chal-lhah dingham neihil taovin. Keihohi nangma nungthopna dinga kahiuve hat’in lang hangtah in tong lhatan,” ahung tipeh tan ahi.
Up, now! for this is your business, and we are with you; take heart and do it.
5 Hiti chun Ezra adingdoh in thempu lamkaiho leh Levite chuleh Israel mipite jousen Shecaniah in ahin seibang chun boldingin kihahselna neiju hite atiuvin. Hiti chun kihahselna chu aneisoh kei taove.
Then Ezra got up, and made the chiefs of the priests and the Levites and all Israel take an oath that they would do this. So they took an oath.
6 Hijouchun Ezra in Pathen Houin masang chu adalhan Eliashib chapa Jehohanan kitipa insungdan achun aluttan ahi. Aman hiche munah chun anjong nelou, twijong donlouvin ageh khovah tan ahi. Amachu sohchang hung kileho kitahlou jeh in alungkham jeng nalaijin ahi.
Then Ezra got up from before the house of God and went into the room of Jehohanan, the son of Eliashib; but when he came there, he took no food or drink, for he was sorrowing for the sin of those who had come back.
7 Hichejou chun Judah leh Jerusalem gam pumpi sungah thuphon khat aphongdoh un sohchang hung kilekit jouse Jerusalem’a hung kikhom dingin thupeh anei taovin ahi.
And they made a public statement through all Judah and Jerusalem, to all those who had come back, that they were to come together to Jerusalem;
8 Koi hileh nithum sunga hunglhung lou jouse chu, lamkai holeh upa hon gellhuhna aneijuleh amaho chu anei agou hou kichomding ahi tin aki gong’un ahi.
And that if anyone did not come before three days were past, as ordered by the rulers and the responsible men, all his goods would be put under the curse, and he himself would be cut off from the meeting of the people who had come back.
9 Hiti chun it hum sungin Judah leh Benjamin mipite jouse chu Jerusalem ah ahung kikhom sohkei taovin ahi. Hichehi lha ko lhinna, nisom ni, nikho thilsoh ahi, mipiho jouse chu Pathen Houin mai tollhangah atousoh keijun, chule amaho chu athu khoh jehleh gojuh jeh a adap jeh chun akithing thing jengun ahi.
Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin came together to Jerusalem before three days were past; it was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month; and all the people were seated in the wide square in front of the house of God, shaking with fear because of this business and because of the great rain.
10 Hijou chun thempupa Ezra chu adingdoh in amaho komma chun aseitan ahi. “Nanghon chonset khohtah chu natongdoh taovin ahi. Hou neilouho numeiho nakichen piuvin Israel chonset nasuh pungbe taovin ahi.
And Ezra the priest got to his feet and said to them, You have done wrong and taken strange women for your wives, so increasing the sin of Israel.
11 Hijeh chun tuhin nanghon napu napateo Pakai Pathen komma chun nachonset phongun chuleh ama lungdei chu bollun. Hiche gamsung mite leh hounei lou numeiho’a kon’in hungpot doh un,” atin ahi.
So now, give praise to the Lord, the God of your fathers, and do his pleasure; and make yourselves separate from the peoples of the land and from the strange women.
12 Hijouchun akikhom mipi hochun O sangtah in asammun hiti hin ahin donbut un ahi, “Adih e, naseichu adih e, keihon nasei bang banga chun kaboldiu ahi!” atiuve.
Then all the people, answering, said with a loud voice, As you have said, so it is right for us to do.
13 Hijouchun amahon aseibe uvin: “Hichehi nikhat ahilou leh ni ni sunga gahchai jengthei ahipoi ajeh chu hiche chonset khohtah thuahi mi tamtah natkha a ahitai. Tu gojuh laitah hin keiho katousot thei pouve.
But the number of people is great, and it is a time of much rain; it is not possible for us to go on waiting outside, and this is not a thing which may be done in one day or even two: for our sin in this business is great.
14 Kalamkai ho’uvin keiho jouse thalhengin hiche thuhi hin boltoh taohen. Koihile namdang numei kichenpi jouse chun phat kitep dungjuiyin, akhospi sung’a lamkaite le thutanho toh hung kilhon uhen. Chutileh I Pathen u lunghanna eihoa konna akitol mang ding ahi,” atiuve.
So now let our rulers be representatives for all the people, and let all those in our towns who are married to strange women come at fixed times, and with them the responsible men and the judges of every town, till the burning wrath of our God is turned away from us, and this has been done.
15 Hiche tohgon chu Ashahel chapa Jonathan leh Tikvah chapa Jahzeiah tenin bou adeimo lhonin chuleh Meshullam leh Levi mi Shabethai in amani chu ajop lhonin adangsen vang aphatsah sohkeijin ahi.
Only Jonathan, the son of Asahel, and Jahzeiah, the son of Tikvah, were against this, Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite supporting them.
16 Hitia chu achelhahna dingin hitihin agong’un ahi. Hichun Ezra in ama insung cheh thalheng dingin lamkai alhengdoh in hiche thalheng hochu amin cheh in ajihlut in ahi. Lhasom lhinna, ni masapen nin, lamkai hochu atoukhom’un hiche thu chu phatah in akholtoh pan un ahi.
So those who had come back did so. And Ezra the priest, with certain heads of families, by their fathers' families, all of them by their names, were marked out; and on the first day of the tenth month they took their places to go into the question with care.
17 Akhovei kumthah kipat nikho chun hou neilou numei kichenpi ho jouse chu akholdoh sohkei taovin ahi.
