< Potdohbu 5 >
1 Hicheng jouse chu Israel upa hole lamkai chengse heng'a asei peh chai lhon phat'in, Pharaoh heng'a Mose le Aaron achelhon in aga sei lhon tai. “Hiche hi ahi Israelte Pakai, Pathen in asei chu: gamthip noiya kami Israelten keima jabol naa kut abolna diuvin soltauvin,” tin amapa henga asei lhon tai.
And after that Moses and Aaron went in, and said unto Pharaoh, Thus hath said the Everlasting One, the God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.
2 Pharaoh in ale donbut in, “Hichu hi mong ham? Pakai kitipa chu koiham? Keiman ipi jeh a ama thu kangaiya Israelte chu kasol doh ding ham? Pakai kitipa chu keiman kahekha poi, chule keiman Israelte kasol doh lou ding ahi,” ati.
And Pharaoh said, Who is the Everlasting, whose voice I am to obey, to let Israel go? I know not the Everlasting, nor will I let Israel go.
3 Ahinlah Aaron leh Mose apang tinten lhon in, “Hebrew mite Pathen chun eikimupi lhon ahi,” tin aphongdoh lhon'e. “Hijeh chun ni thum sung'a gamthip a kache uva Pakai ka Pathen'u henga kilhaina ka ga sem na diuvin neisol tauvin. Achuti louva ahile, Pakaiyin gamna hise ahinlan sah ding ahilou leh chemjam'a eitha gam diu ahi,” ati lhon'e.
And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, a three days' journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the Lord our God; lest he fall upon us with the pestilence, or with the sword.
4 Pharaoh in a donbut in, “Mose leh Aaron, ipi ding'a mipite ana toh nauva konna alungu nalahmang lhon'a nasuboi lhon ham? Na kitoh kit tauvin!
And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, hinder the people from their works? get you unto your own affairs.
5 Ven, “Gamsung'a namite hi tampi ahiuvin, ahin nangnin amaho hi anatoh nau natansah lhon tai,” ati.
And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and ye disturb them in the pursuit of their labors.
6 Hiche nikho mama chun Pharaoh in Egypt mite ding'a soh natong vaipo ho leh Israel lamkai ho chu hiche thupeh hi ape tan ahi:
And Pharaoh commanded on the same day the taskmasters of the people, and its officers, saying,
7 “Chehlhang semna ding'in changpol pe tahih un. Ama ama cheh kihol sah tauvin!
Ye shall no more give the people straw to make the bricks, as yesterday and the day before; they themselves shall go and gather themselves straw.
8 Ahivang'a masang'a na bolsah ngai bang'uva chehlhang nasem sah jat u kibanga nasem sah dingu ahi. Achanvou u lhom jong lhom sah hih un. Athase gam tauve. Hijeh chun amahon, 'cheu hitin I-Pathen'u henga kilhaina gasem tauhite,' tia asap jengu ahi, ati.
And the number of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall impose upon them, ye shall not diminish aught thereof; for they are idle: therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.
9 Achung'uva natoh hahsa cheh koibe peh un! A-ulsau lonsah un! Hichun jou thu angaisah lou na diuva ahil dingu ahi!” ati.
Let the work be made to lie heavily upon the men, that they may have enough to do therein; and that they may not pay attention to false words.
10 Hichun soh natong vaipo ho leh natong lamkai ho chu acheuvin mipi ho heng'a asei peh tauvin: “Pharaoh in asei hiche hi ahi: Tuapat changpol kapeh talou ding'u nahi.
And the taskmasters of the people and its officers went out, and they said to the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you any straw.
11 Cheuvin lang nangma nangman ga kipoh uvin. Hoilaimun hijongle namu thei chan'un ga kihol tauvin. Ahinlah masanga banga chehlhang atam nathei chan'a na sem doh dingu ahi,” ati.
Go ye, get yourselves straw from wherever ye can find it; yet not the least shall be taken off from your work.
12 Hijeh chun mipi jong Egypt gamtin ah changpol hol nan aki the cheh tauvin ahi.
And the people scattered themselves abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble instead of straw.
13 Chomkhat jouvin, Egypt natong vaipo hon gah tah in aboljom nalaiyun, “Changpol kapeh laiyuva nasem bang'uva, niseh leh chehlhang nasem doh ding jat u nasuh bulhit tei ding'u ahi” tin ngeh na aneiyuve.
And the taskmasters were urgent, saying, Fulfill your works, every day its due portion, just as when there was straw.
14 Chuin Israel natong lamkaiya anganse hou chu ajep uvin, “Ipi ding'a janhia chule tunia jong natoh doh diu jat na toh doh louvu ham? tin ngehna aneiyuvin ahi.
And the officers of the children of Israel, whom the taskmasters of Pharaoh had set over them, were beaten, as these said, Wherefore have ye not fulfilled your task in making brick as heretofore, both yesterday and today?
15 Chuphat in Israel natong lamkai cheng Pharoah heng'a ache un chule atao uvin, “lungset tah in nasohte hi hitin neibol hih un,” tin athum un ahi.
And the officers of the children of Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Wherefore dealest thou thus with thy servants?
16 “Changpol la eipe pouvin, ahinlah soh vaipo hon angeh nalaiyun “chehlhang sem'un!” tin eivo jing'un, ahinlah hiche hi keiho themmo ahi poi! Nangma mite ho mama ngoh ding ahijoi!” tin asei uve.
Straw is not given unto thy servants, and, Make bricks, say they to us: and, behold, thy servants are beaten, and thy people are treated as sinners.
17 Ahivang'in Pharoah apeng jah jeng'in, “Nangho na thaset u ahi! a thase na hiuve! Hijeh a chu hitia hi naseiyu ahi, 'Cheu hitin chule I-Pakaiyu heng'a kilhaina ga toh doh ute natiu ahi.'
But he said, Idle are ye, idle; therefore say ye, Let us go and sacrifice to the Lord.
18 “Tun natong din kileuvin! Nangho changpol na kipe lou diu, ahivang'a chehlhang nasem doh diu jat lhingset a nasem doh teitei ding'u ahi,” ati.
And now go, work, and straw shall not be given you; yet the required number of bricks shall ye deliver.
19 “Niseh a chehlhang nasem jat u nakemsuh sah theilou ding'u ahi,” ati jeh u chun Israel natong lamkai hon nasa tah abol gim'a aum'u chu amu tauvin ahi.”
And the officers of the children of Israel saw themselves in the evil necessity to say, Ye shall not diminish aught from your bricks, every day of its task.
20 Pharoah thutanna insung ahin dalhah phat un, pam lang'a amaho ana ngah Mose leh Aaron chu aki mupi uvin ahi.
And they met Moses and Aaron, standing in their way, as they came forth from Pharaoh.
21 Chuin natong lamkai ho chun ajah lhon'ah, “Pakaiyin nachung chang thu lhon tan hen lang gotna nape lhon hen, ijeh inem itileh Pharaoh leh alhacha ho angsung'a nei suh namset u ahi. Nangnin amaho khut a chemjam na koipeh lhon in, neitha gamsah kigot un ahi,” atiuve.
And they said unto them, May the Lord look upon you, and judge; because ye have made our savor to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to slay us.
22 Chuin Mose Pakai heng'a akile in akiphin tai, “Ipi ding'a namite chung'a hitobang gimna hi nalhun sah hitam, Pakai? Ipi ding'a keima nei sol ham?”
And Moses returned unto the Lord, and said, Lord, wherefore hast thou let so much evil come upon this people? why is it that thou hast sent me?
23 Nangma thalheng'a thusei dinga Pharoah heng kahunga kipat namite chunga akhanse cheh cheh jon ahi. Hinlah nangman amaho huhdoh nadin ima nabol poi!”
For, since I came unto Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath done more evil to this people; but thou hast in nowise delivered thy people.
