Thuhilpa 5
1 Pathen houna in na nalut tengleh, nakol sung in lang chule na kam kihup in. Geltoh louva Pathenna kilhaina sem chu pha louva ahi.
Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and draw near to hear, rather than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they know not that they do evil.
2 Kitepna geltoh louvin mohsem sem hih in, chule Pathen angsunga thil hinlhut loi ding kino hih beh in. Pathen chu vanna uma ahin, nangma hiche leisetna hi uma na hije. Hijeh chun na thusei chom hen.
Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thy heart be hasty to utter anything before God: for God is in the heavens, and thou upon earth; therefore let thy words be few.
3 Naha chaloh behset naho hin kichol dothei louna mang namat sah ding, thu na tam seival hin mingol nasosah bep ding ahi.
For a dream cometh through the multitude of business, and a fool's voice through a multitude of words.
4 Nangman Pathenna kitepna nanei tengleh, hichu jui lhung ding khongai sot hih in, ijeh inem itileh Pathen’in mingol ho chunga lunglhai na anei poi. Ama henga na kitepna jouse chu bulhit molson.
When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.
5 Kitepna neija ahiala suhbulhit louva um sang in, imacha sei lou beh chu pha joa ahi.
Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.
6 Nakam in na chonset sah hih beh hen. Nangman hou-in lhacha pa jah’a chun kitepna ka nanei chu ka seikhel ahitai tin nangle nang kihonnan sei hih in. Hichun Pathen a lunghan sah joh ding, chule aman natohdoh umsa chengse chu su-mang loget inte.
Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an inadvertence. Wherefore should God be wroth at thy voice, and destroy the work of thy hands?
7 Mangmat le pannabei thilbol apunbe tobang'in, thu sei doh jong abai lam in ahi. Hinlah nangman Pathen ging jon.
For in the multitude of dreams are vanities; so with many words: but fear God.
8 Thanei tah khat in mivaicha chu agimbol hesoh namua chule gamsung pumpia thutahle chonphatna chu alamlouva akiheikoija ahiltah jongleh hichu datmo hih in. Ajeh chu achungnung penna thuneipa sanga chung nungjo chun agel khoh ahin, chule amaho sanga sangjo ho aum uve.
If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter; for a higher than the high is watching, and there are higher than they.
9 Chu kal val in, leiset hi mi jouse phatchomna ding ahi; hitia chu lengpa alouma’a kihinso ahi.
Moreover the earth is every way profitable: the king [himself] is dependent upon the field.
10 Sum ngailu ho chun suma ning lhin tih anei lou diu. neile gouvin kipana dihtah apeh ding gel’a chun phatchompi ponte.
He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver, nor he that loveth abundance with increase. This also is vanity.
11 Natamnei channa chu na suhmang huding mi tamcheh hung um ding ahi. Hijeh chun neile gou hi na khuttah’a konna aki toldoh navet tilou ipi aphat chomna nahet em?
When goods increase, they are increased that eat them; and what profit is there to the owner thereof, except the beholding [of them] with his eyes?
12 Na tonggimho chun tamneh henlang, lhom neh jong leh a-ihmut’u anom’e. Hinlah mihao chun ih-mut nopna amu joupoi.
The sleep of the labourer is sweet, whether he have eaten little or much; but the fulness of the rich doth not suffer him to sleep.
13 Nipi noija aboitah khat kamu doh kit aum ben ahi. Neile gou kikhol khom hi aneipa ding in aphat mona aum e.
There is a grievous evil that I have seen under the sun: riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt;
14 Sum hi apung dinga kikhol khom jong hi hahsatna ahinle sodoh jin, chule hiche jeh hin ijakai amanlo jibep’e. Achaina tengleh achate dinga ima pehson ding nei louvin aum jitai.
or those riches perish by some evil circumstance, and if he have begotten a son, there is nothing in his hand.
15 Eiho jouse hi i-hungpen uva banga sagohkeu le khut gohkeuva i-hinkho’u hi hung kichai ding ahi. Nei le gou inei hou kipoh thei ihi pouve.
As he came forth from his mother's womb, naked shall he go away again as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand.
16 Chule hiche jong hi boi-umtah ahi. Mihon hiche vannoi adalhah’uhi ahungpen sanguva aphat john a aumpoi. Atohgim nau jouse hi amang thah bep ding ahibouve.
And this also is a grievous evil, that in all points as he came so doth he go away, and what profit hath he, in having laboured for the wind?
17 Ahinkho lhung keijuva lungkim louna, lunglhahna chule lunghanna meipi noija uma ahiuve.
All his days also he eateth in darkness, and hath much vexation, and sickness, and irritation.
18 Hiti chu ahi vang'in, thilpha khat keiman kahin mudoh in ahi. Hichu mihem in nipi noija Pathen in apeh hinkho chomcha um sunga aneh’a, adon’a, chule anatoh chunga akipa thanop pia chule achan chunga alung lhai ding hi ahi.
Behold what I have seen good and comely: [it is] to eat and to drink, and to enjoy good in all his labour wherewith [man] laboureth under the sun, all the days of his life which God hath given him: for that is his portion.
19 Chule Pathenna konna neile gou chule damtheina anei kipapina anei dinghi thilpha ahi. Nanatoh nathanoppia chule nahinkhoa nachan chu nalung oipia ahileh hiche hi Pathen thilpeh chu ahije.
Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and power to eat thereof, and to take his portion and to rejoice in his labour: that is a gift of God.
20 Pathen in hitobang miho hi akisah boisah lhehji jeh in, amahon achesa ho gelna phat anei man pouve.
For he will not much remember the days of his life, because God answereth [him] with the joy of his heart.
