< Daniel 8 >

1 Belshezzar lengpa, lengvaipoh kal kumthum lhin kum in, themgao thilmua mu kana nei masat jou chun, Daniel keiman avel in gaovin mu kanei kit’e.
In the third year of the reign of Belshazzar the king, a vision appeared unto me, [even] to me Daniel, after that which appeared unto me at the first.
2 Hiche kathilmuna-a chun, Elam gamkai sung’a khopi lentah Susa kulpi sung’a, Keima kana um e, chuleh Ulai vadung pam’a keima kana ding’e.
And I saw in the vision; and it came to pass, when I saw, that I was in the fortress of Shushan, which is in the province of Elam. And I saw in the vision, and I was by the river Ulai.
3 Hichun ka khodah in kavet leh, vadung pang’a chun kelngoichal khat adin kamui. Aki ni aneiyin, akiteni chu asao cheh in ahi. Aki khat chu khat joh sang’a hung dondoh nukhah ahivang in akhang khang in asaojoi.
And I lifted up mine eyes and saw, and behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns; and the two horns were high; and one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last.
4 Kelngoichal chun alampi’a umtapou chu adel khumin, lhumlam’a um, sahlam’a um, chuleh lhanglam’a umho, abonin anomang in, ama masang’a koima chu apangjou aumpoi. Chuleh ama thahatna-a kon’a mi ga huhdoh ding jong aum pon, aman adei dei abolin chuleh ama leh ama loupitah in aki choisang tai.
I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward, and no beast could stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; and he did according to his will, and became great.
5 Hitia kavet pet chun, lhumlam’a konin kelchal khat ahung doh in, tol tongkha louvin, mangang tah in gam leiset chung ahin jot galkaiyin ahi. Hiche kelchal hin amit teni kah’a ki lentah khat seh aneiye.
And as I was considering, behold, a he-goat came from the west over the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes.
6 Hiche kelchal hin, vadung pam’a adin kanamui kelngoi chal, ki ni nei chu, ahin jonin lunghang tah in, athanei su in adel khum jeng in ahi.
And he came to the ram that had the two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran upon him in the fury of his power.
7 Kelchal chun lunghang tah a kelngoi chal chu akitapi jeng in ahileh, kelngoichal ki teni chu atatbong tai. Kelngoichal chu kelchal masang’a apangjou tapoi. Kelchal chun kelngoichal chu tol suhnan aneiyin, chuleh akengin achil tan ahi. Kelchal thahatna-a kon chun kelngoichal chu koimacha ahuh doh ding aum tapoi.
And I saw him come close to the ram, and he was enraged with him, and smote the ram, and broke his two horns; and there was no power in the ram to stand before him; and he cast him down to the ground, and trampled upon him; and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand.
8 Kelchal chu ahung thahat lheh jeng tai. Ahivang in, hitia ahatpet tah chun, aki lentah khatseh anei chu abongtan ahi. Hiche ki lentah umna mun’a chun, ki loupitah li ahung dondoh kit in, hiche ho chun leiset ningli lam anga cheh’un, akhang khang tauve.
And the he-goat became exceeding great; but when he was become strong, the great horn was broken; and in its stead came up four notable ones toward the four winds of the heavens.
9 Chuin ki li ho lah’a, ki khat pen’a kon chun, ki neokhat ahung dondoh kit in, hiche ki chu athahat lheh jeng in, athaneina chu lhanglam ngan, solam ngan chuleh Israel gam loupi ngan, akhang khang in anasa lheh jeng tai.
And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which became exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the beauty [of the earth].
10 Chuin athahat cheh chehin, van geijin athahatna chu akhangdoh tai. Hiche saki chun van thuneina geijin adoutan, van’a um ahsi phabep jong ahinpih lhan, akengin tol’ah achilgoiyin ahi.
And it became great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down [some] of the host and of the stars to the ground, and trampled upon them.
11 Chuin kiloupi sahtah in, van sepai lamkai pipu jong chu adoutan, niseh’a maicham thilto tang louva hung kitohho jong akilah in, chuleh maicham muntheng hojong abonin asumang tan ahi.
(And he magnified [himself] even to the prince of the host, and from him the continual [sacrifice] was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.
12 Hiche doubolpa chung’a lethuhlou na dingin, van sepai hochu akikang seuvin ahi. Hiche jeh chun, niseh’a maicham’a thil hung kitoh ho jouse atang tan, ama khut’a akipedoh tai. Hitichun saki chu ahatlheh jeng in, chuleh amachal lheh jeng in, thutah jeng jong tol’ah chotphan aum tai.
And a time of trial was appointed unto the continual [sacrifice] by reason of transgression.) And it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised and prospered.
13 Chuin keiman mitheng mini kihouna chu kajan, mitheng khatpa chunk hat johpa heng’a chun aseijin, Themgao thilmua kimu hohi itih chan geija hitia um ding ham? Hiche doubol pan, niseh’a maicham thilto kitohho hi asuhtang’a, itih chan geija ahomkeova akoi ding ham? Chuleh itihchan geija chu, muntheng leh van sepai ho chu kengto chotpha-a um ding hiuvem? tin adong’e.
And I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that one who spoke, How long shall be the vision of the continual [sacrifice] and of the transgression that maketh desolate, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden down under foot?
14 Hichun khatpan adonbut in,’’Nilhah leh jingkah sangnile jathum sunghi hitia um ding ahin, chujou tengleh muntheng chu aumna ding dol’a avel’a kisempha kit ding ahi,’’ atipeh e.
And he said unto me, Until two thousand and three hundred evenings [and] mornings: then shall the sanctuary be vindicated.
15 Daniel keiman, hiche themgao thilmua mu kanei chu, ipi kiseina ham ahi kahetchen nomlheh in, kagel gelin; Hichepet chun, mihem lim tobang mikhat kamasanga ahung ding in,
And it came to pass, when I Daniel had seen the vision, I sought for the understanding of it, and behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man.
16 Chuin keiman, Ulai vadunga kon’a hung kikou mihem awgin khat kajan, hichun, “Gabriel, hiche mipa hi, themgao thilmua kivetsah chengse hi, ipi kiseina ham seipeh in” ati.
And I heard a man's voice between [the banks of] the Ulai; and he called and said, Gabriel, make this [man] to understand the vision.
17 Chuin Gabriel chun, kadinna mun ahin naijin ahileh katija behseh jengin, kamai tol’a sulutin ka bohkhup tai. Hichun aman kajah’a, “Vo mihem chapa, hiche themgao thilmua namuho chengse hi, phat kichai nading thudol ahi, hethemin, geltohin,” ati.
And he came near where I stood; and when he came, I was afraid, and fell on my face; and he said unto me, Understand, son of man; for the vision is for the time of the end.
Now, as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep stupor, with my face toward the ground. And he touched me, and set me up where I had stood.
19 Chuin aman kajah’a, Lunghanna phat nunung lamleh, ipi hungsoh ding ham, ti naheng’a seipeh ding’a, keima hikom’a um kahi. Nangman na thilmu chengse hi, phat kichai ding chu ahilchen ahi.
And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be at the end of the indignation: for at the set time the end shall be.
20 Nangman namu ki ni neija kelngoichal chu, Media lengpa leh Pesia lengpa ahi lhon’e.
The ram that thou sawest having the two horns: they are the kings of Media and Persia.
21 Chuleh kelchal chu Greek lengpa vetsahna ahin, amit teni kah’a ki lentah khat chu, Greek leng masapen chu ahi tai.
And the rough goat is the king of Greece; and the great horn that was between his eyes is the first king.
22 Akilentah aboh jouva, aumna mun’a, ki adang litah ahung dondoh jeng bang’a chu, Greek lenggam chu kehli kisoa, lenggam li tah umdoh ding ahi. Hijong leh, lenggam masapen bang’a loupi umlou ding ahiuve.
Now that being broken, whereas four stood up in its stead, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not with his power.
23 Amaho lengvaipoh phat kichai konleh, achonsetnau asanval behseh jeh chun, alah uva kon’in, duha themtah leh ginneilou leng khat hung lendoh ding ahi.
And at the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors shall have come to the full, a king of bold countenance, and understanding riddles, shall stand up.
And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power; and he shall destroy marvellously, and shall prosper, and shall practise, and shall destroy the mighty ones, and the people of the saints.
25 Duha thuh leh lheplhah them bulpi ahitoh lhon’a, gilou tah’a hung lendoh ding, chuleh mi tamtah gihsalna beiya asuhmang ding ahi. Aman leng chapate leh milen milalte geija gal abolkhum ding, amavang, akhonna leh mihem khut thahat pang louva amahi kisuchip ding ahi.
And through his cunning shall he cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he will magnify [himself] in his heart, and by prosperity will corrupt many; and he will stand up against the Prince of princes: but he shall be broken without hand.
26 Hichea themgao thilmua namu nilhah leh jingkah sangni leh jathum hilchenna thuhi, adihtah mong mong ahi. Amavang, hiche gaothuhi, nikho sotpi nung’a hungsoh ding ahijeh'in, Mohor namkhum inlang, thuguh in koi tan.
And the vision of the evening and the morning which hath been told is true; but close thou up the vision, for it is for many days [to come].
27 Chuin Daniel keima tah hi, katija behseh jengin, nikho tampi kadammo lotan ahi. Chujouvin, ka thouvin lengpa kin lhacha natong din in k che tai. Ahivangin, ka thilmu ho chengse chu ka hethem theihih beh jengin chuleh ka lung ahesoh sahlheh jengin ahi.
And I Daniel fainted, and was sick [certain] days: then I rose up, and did the king's business. And I was astonished at the vision, but none understood [it].
