< Amos 7 >

1 Hatchungnung Pakai chun, thil hicheng hi themgao thilmun keima eivetsah e. Pakaiyin khaokhote tamtah alomchang’a, gamsunga ahinlhalut keiman kamui. Hichu, loujaova lousoh-ga lengpa ding’a akikhop tup jou, aban’a ding lousoh-ga ahungdon doh thah phatlai ahi.
Yahweh our God showed me [in a vision] that he was going to send locusts [to destroy our crops]. It was going to happen right after the king’s share of the hay had been harvested/cut and before the rest of the hay was ready to be harvested.
2 Khaokhoten gamsung’a hamhing aum jouse abonchan ane chaisoh hel tan ahi. Chu in ken jong, “Vo Hatchungnung Pakai, nahenga kataove nei ngaidam’un, kahindoh joulou diu ahitai. Ajeh chu, Israel hi neocha ahibouvin, na kidoupi kham jong ahipoi’’ tin ka sei tai.
[And in the vision I saw] those locusts come, and they ate everything that was green. Then I cried out, “Yahweh our Lord, please forgive us! We Israeli people are very helpless; (how will we be able to survive [RHQ]?/we will not be able to survive!)”
3 Hijeh chun Pakaiyin alung ngaito akhel in, “Hiche hi kibolda tahen!’’ tin Pakaiyin asei tai.
So Yahweh changed his mind and said, “That will not happen.”
4 Chujouvin, Hatchungnung Pakai chun, themgao thilmun thildang khat eimusah kit e. Pakaiyin amite chunga gotna thutan khum ding in meikong hattah khat akouvin, hiche meikong chun kokhuh thuhtah tah jong akachai jeng in, chuleh gamsung pumpi jong ahalvam soh hel tai.
Then this is what Yahweh our Lord showed me [in another vision]: He was calling to a fire to [come and] punish [his people]. [In the vision I saw that] the fire dried up the ocean and also burned [everything on] the land.
5 Chuin kenjong, vo hatchungnung Pakai, naheng’a kataove nei lungset’un bolda tan, ka hindoh joulou diu ahitai, ajeh chu Israel hi neocha ahibouve, na kidoupi kham jong ahipoi,’’ tin ka sei tai.
Then I cried out again, “Yahweh our Lord, I plead with you, please stop this! We Israeli people are very helpless; how will we be able to survive [RHQ]?”
6 Chutah chun Pakaiyin alungngaito akhel kit in,’ “Hiche jong hi kibolda tahen,’’ tin thanei pen Pakaiyin aseiye.
So Yahweh changed his mind again, and said, “That also will not happen.”
7 Chujouvin, Pakaiyin thildang khat, themgao thilmun eivetsah kit e. Pakaiyin akhut’a songkhai-in tena khat achoijin, pal kigensa kom’a ading’e. Aman hiche pal kigensa chu phatea dingdet jing hinam, tin atetoh len ahi.
Then Yahweh showed me [another vision]. I saw him standing beside a wall. [It was very straight because] it had been built using a (plumb line/cord with a weight on one end to determine if walls are vertically straight). Yahweh had the plumb line in his hand.
8 Chuleh Pakai chun eidong in,’’Amos ipi namu em? eiti. Chuin kenjong ka donbut in, “songkhai-intena khat kamui’’ kati. Chutah chun Pakaiyin aseijin, “Hiche songkhai-intena kachoija hi, kamite ka tetoh ding, achonset nau jouse donlouva kakoi louhel ding ahi.
Yahweh asked me, “Amos, what do you see?” I replied, “A plumb line.” Then Yahweh said, “Look, I am going to use a plumb line among my Israeli people, [to show that they are like a wall that is not straight]. I will not change my mind again about punishing them.
9 Na pului teu doipheng ho abon’a kisuse gamhel ding, Israel mite muntheng ho jouse jong ahomkeuva kijamsoh hel ding ahi. Chuleh Jeroboam insung khang gui jong kasuh gamhel ding ahi’’ ati.
The places on hills where [the descendants of] [MTY] Isaac worship [idols] will be destroyed. And the other important shrines in Israel will also be destroyed. And I will enable [your enemies] to attack your people with swords and they will get rid of [King] Jeroboam and all his descendants.”
10 Chuin Bethel khopia thempupa, Amajiah kitipa chun, Israel lengpa Jeroboam kom’a mi asol in, thu agalhut sah tai. ‘’Israel mite jalah tah’a, nakotphung ngeiya hin, Amos kitipan, nang douna leh dehnan thu aseijin, athusei doh hohi dou’a dou jou ahipoi.
Then Amaziah, the priest at Bethel, sent [a message] to Jeroboam, the King of Israel. In the message he said, “Amos is plotting against you among the Israeli people [MTY]. [I am worried that] the people of this country will not be able to refute his words.
11 Aman hitin aseiye, “Jeroboam hi chemjam’a loutei tei ding, sot lou ding ahitai. Chuleh Israel mite jong sohchang’a kikaimang diu ahi,’’ tin aga sei sah tai.
This is what he is saying: ‘Jeroboam will soon be killed by [someone using] a sword, and the people of Israel will be (exiled/forced to leave their land and go to another country).’”
12 Chujouvin, Amajiah in Amos chu thu apen, “Vo mitva neipa, hilaimun’a kon in potdoh'in! Judah gamsung’a kilekit loijin, chuleh chua chun gaothu nasei nom nom seijin lang naneh ding ga kihol tan!
Then Amaziah [came to me and] said, “You prophet, get out of here! Go back to the country of Judah! Earn money to [buy food to be able] to live there, and do your prophesying there!
13 Hilai Bethel khopia hin gaothu avel in hung seikit tahih in. Ajeh chu hilaimun hi, lengpa muntheng ahin chuleh gamsung pumpi dia jong muntheng Pathen houna mun ahi bouve’’ ati.
Do not prophesy any more here at Bethel, because this is where the national temple, the king’s temple, is!”
14 Chuphat in Amos in adonbut in, “Keima themgao tah tah chu kahi pon, chuleh themgao guija peng jong kahipoi. Keima kelngoi ching’a pang mei mei kahin, theipi thingna ho malngim lea pangbou kahi.
I replied to Amaziah, “I was [previously] not a prophet, and my father was not a prophet; I was a shepherd. I also took care of sycamore-fig trees.
15 Ahivang in, kelngoi hon nung kajuina akon in Pakaiyin eikou doh tan, kajah’a aseitai. “Chenlang, kamite Israelte lah’a gaothu ga sei tan,’’ eiti.
But Yahweh took me away from taking care of my sheep, and he said to me, ‘Go to Israel and prophesy to my people there!’
16 Hijeh chun, tunjong Pakai thusei hi ngaijin. “Nangman nasei jin; Israel dounan jong gaothu seidan lang, kamite dounan jong thuhil in pang hih in’’ nati.
You said to me, ‘Do not prophecy saying terrible things will happen to [the people of] Israel; stop saying those things!’
17 Amavang, Pakaiyin hitin aseiye; “Na jinu chu khopi sung’a notia hung pang ding, chuleh na chapate leh na chanute chem. jam’a hunglou diu, na gamsung jong abeh beh’a kihom khen ding, chuleh nangma tah jong migam’a naga thiding ahi. Chuleh Israel chate jong agamsung uva kon’a gamdang’a sohchang’a kitolmang teitei ding ahiuve, ati,’’ tin aseiye.
Therefore listen to what Yahweh says about you: ‘Your wife will become a prostitute in this city, and your sons and daughters will be killed by [your enemies’] swords. Others will measure your land and divide it up [among themselves]; and you yourself will die in a foreign country. And the people of Israel will certainly be forced to leave their country and go (into exile/to live in another country).’”
