< Amos 5 >
1 Vo Israel mite, na chung uva thi-op la kasah khum’u hi ngai cheh tem’un!
Listen to this word, which I lift over you in lamentation. The house of Israel has fallen, and it will no longer rise again.
2 Nungah tobang Israel chu akiseplhu tai, avel’a dingdoh kitlou dingin tollhanga akijam den tai.
The virgin of Israel has been thrown onto her land, there is no one who can raise her up.
3 Hatchungnung Pakaiyin hitin aseiye, “Galsat mi sangkhat avaikon teng, mi jakhat bou hung kile jia, mi jakhat avaikon teng, mi somkhat bou hingdoh’a hung kile ji ahiuve’’ ati.
For thus says the Lord God: In the city from which a thousand departed, a hundred will remain, and in that from which a hundred departed, ten will remain, in the house of Israel.
4 Tun, Pakaiyin Israel mite jah’a hitin aseiye,’ “Nahin na diuvin, kahenga hung kilekit tauvin,
For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel: Seek me and you will live.
5 Bethel kho’a doi-pathen houdin amaicham phunga cheda uvin, Gilgal leh Beersheba mun’a jong doi houdin lut dauvin. Ajeh chu, Gilgal khomite jong sohchanga kikaimang diu, chuleh Bethel khomite jing imalou soh uva mangthah diu ahi,’’ati.
But do not be willing to seek Bethel, and do not be willing to enter Gilgal, and you will not cross into Beer-sheba. For Gilgal will be led into captivity, and Bethel will be useless.
6 Nahin na diuvin Pakai kom’a hung kilekit uvin, achuti louleh, Pakai chu Israel chunga meikou kisunkhum banga hung deujah ding, naboncha uva nakah vam diu, Bethel kho’a na-doi-pathen uvin jong hichu aphelmit thei lou ding ahi.
Seek the Lord and live. Otherwise, the house of Joseph may be destroyed with fire, and it will devour, and there will be no one who can extinguish Bethel.
7 Nanghon thudih chu na heikon un, hesoh gentheite din changkha kine nabah sah’un, Nanghon athudih laitah chu kidah um nasosah’un, tolsenan nanei tauve.
You turn judgment into wormwood, and you abandon justice on earth.
8 Pakaiyin ahsi ho asem in, ahsi lah’a Bombel leh Ngambom lungthu jong asem e. Aman muthim lhangkhal jong jingkah khovah asosah in, sunlai nisa jong jan muthim asosah theiye. Aman twikhanglen’a twipi ho achopdoh in, leiset chunga aphilhah sah e. Ama chu amin Pakai kiti ahi.
The Maker of Arcturus and Orion, who turns darkness into daybreak and who changes day into night; who calls forth the waters of the sea and who pours them out over the face of the earth: The Lord is his name.
9 Aman athahat apan in, ahat leh apaote asumang in, akulpi jouseu jong asuhchim peh tai.
It is he who smiles destruction on the healthy, and who brings pillaging upon the powerful.
10 Nanghon thu adih’a tanpa nahot bol’un, thutah seidoh ho jong nadal bol uvin na kidah thouve.
They held hatred for the one who corrects at the gate, and they have abhorred the one who speaks perfectly.
11 Nanghon vaicha gentheite chotphan nanei jun, dihlou tah in kai don nopnan nanei jun, achang jouseu nalah peh jiuve. Hijeh chun, nanghon song-in hoitah tah nakisah vangun, asunga nachen louhel diu ahi. Chuleh lengpilei na deitah’a nabol uva tamtah naphu vang un, hicheho’a kon’a chu nanghon lengpitwi nadon louhel diu ahibouve.
Therefore, on his behalf, because you have torn apart the poor and stolen choice prey from him: you will build houses with square stones and you will not dwell in them; you will plant the most delightful vineyards, and you will not drink wine from them.
12 Ajeh chu, keiman nasuhkhel u ijat hija, na chonset nau ichan geija nasa ham, ti kahesoh keije. Nangho hi nehguh kilah’a, midih bolgenthei ja pang nahiuve, chuleh thutanna mun’a vaicha tahlelte dihna selmang’a pang nahiuve.
For I know your many wicked deeds and the strength of your sins, you enemies of the just, accepting bribes, and depriving the poor at the gate.
13 Hijeh chun, hitobang phat phatlou laitah’a, akam kihup’a umthim beh chu, milung chingho ahiuve.
Therefore, the prudent will be silent at that time, for it is an evil time.
14 Apha chu ipi ham, hol uvin lang, thilse chu jamsan’un, chutileh nanghon na sei jiu banga, Pakai van Pathen chun na umpi jing thei diu ahi.
Seek good and not evil, so that you may live. And the Lord God of hosts will be with you, just as you have asked.
15 Thilse hotbol unlang, apha chu ngailuvin; chuleh thutanna munho chu thudih lenna hisah’un, chutileh Pakai van Pathen chun, amite ahingdoh amoh chengse chunga alungsetna akoi ding ahi.
Hate evil and love good, and establish judgment at the gate. Perhaps then the Lord God of hosts may have mercy on the remnant of Joseph.
16 Hijeh chun Pakai van Pathen chun hitin aseije, khosung leh vengning koilah jousea thi-op ho ka leh mao o-gin dimlha ding, chuleh akap gunset dinga ka-je them hojong akondiu, ahi.
Therefore, thus says the Lord God of hosts, the Sovereign: In all the streets, there will be wailing. And in every place where they are outdoors, they will say, “Woe, woe!” And they will call the farmer to mourn, and those who know mourning to lamentation.
17 Lengpilei lai jousea mi kap thum jeju ding, ajeh chu Keiman amaho talen kamatsah’a kasuhgam hel soh ding ahi, tin Pakaiyin aseiye.
And in all the vineyards there will be wailing. For I will cross through your midst, says the Lord.
18 Ohe, ada nahiuve! Pakai nikho chu hunglhung taleh tiho. Nanghon Pakai nikho chu ipi tobang ham nahepouve Hiche nikho chun khovah ahinpohlut louhel ding, muthim lhangkhal ahinlhut ding ahibouve.
Woe to those who desire the day of the Lord. What is it to you? The day of the Lord is this: darkness and not light.
19 Hiche nikho chuleh nangho, Pasal khattou sakei bahkai kicha-a ajamleh vompin ana lamtin’a, vompia kon’a ajamdoh kit’a a-insung alhun’a, a-inbanga akingaileh akhut gul’in ahinchuh tobang nahi diu ahi.
It is as if a man flees from the face of a lion, only to have a bear meet him; or, he enters a house and leans with his hand against the wall, only to have a snake bite him.
20 Chutia chu, Pakai nikho chu muthim leh lungjin nikho hiding, lung navah bei leh kipana beikei nikho hiding ahi.
Will not the day of the Lord be darkness and not light, and gloom with no brightness in it?
21 Keiman kut nabol jouseu kahon kadei poi, khoppi theng nabol’u jong ka kipah dehpoi. Ajeh chu abon’a atah hilou na bolthu ngen’u ahibouve.
I hate and have rejected your feasts; and I will not accept the odor from your gatherings.
22 Nanghon pumgo thilto nadeitah’uva nabol’u jong kamit a ka vetpih louhel ding nahiuve.
For if you offer me holocausts and your gifts, I will not receive them; and I will not look upon the vows of your fatness.
23 O thong jejua vahchoila nasah’u jong thip doh un, selangdah tampi ngeitah’a nasai ju jong ka ngainom poi.
Take away from me the tumult of your songs, and I will not listen to the canticles of your lyre.
24 Chusang in, thudih chu twilong hattah bangin nei musah un, chuleh kanglou twidung bangin chondihna chu lonsah’un.
And judgment will be revealed like water, and justice like a mighty torrent.
25 Vo, Israel mite, gamthip noija kum somli sunga chu, kilhaina gantha chuleh thilto chom chom ho chu kahenga nahinchoi jingu hinam?
Was it you who offered victims and sacrifices to me in the desert for forty years, house of Israel?
26 Ahipoi, nanghon na-doi-pathen’u nalengpau Sakkuth leh ahsi pathen na kisem thu-u bou chu najen’un nahou-ve.
And you carried a tabernacle for your Moloch and the image of your idols: the star of your god, which you made for yourselves.
27 Hijeh’a chu keiman nanghohi Damascus kalpeh’a sohchanga ka kaimang diu nahi tin, Pakaiyin aseiyin, ama min chu Pakai van Pathen ahi.
And I will cause you to go into captivity across Damascus, says the Lord. The God of hosts is his name.
