< 2 Samuel 17 >
1 Tun Ahithophel in Absalom koma hitin angeh tan ahi, “tujan ma ma David nung del pai din keiman Sepai sangsom le sangni kilhen doh inge ati.
Moreover Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Let me now choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David this night:
2 Keiman David chu athachol pet tah le akingaiset pet tah a kaga met ding ahi. chule ama le a sepai te jouse kasuh kichat ding chuteng mijouse jammang soh ding chuteng keiman lengpa bou katha ding ahi ati.
And I will come upon him while he [is] weary and weak handed, and will make him afraid: and all the people that [are] with him shall flee; and I will smite the king only:
3 Mipi ho vang chu abonchauva kahin puilut ding, mou thah akichen pi ding pa henga hung kipuilut banga in lam a kahin puilut ding ahibouve; chule nangman mi khat sheh bou tha dinga nahol ahin, chutengle mipi vang chu lung mong tah a umdiu ahitai,” ati.
And I will bring back all the people unto thee: the man whom thou seekest [is] as if all returned: [so] all the people shall be in peace.
4 Athusei hin Absalom alung lhai sah lheh jeng in, chule Israel chunga lamkai ho jouse jong abonchauvin alung lhaisah soh hel tan ahi.
And the saying pleased Absalom well, and all the elders of Israel.
5 Chuphat’in Absalom chun hitin aseiye, “Arkite mi Hushai chu hinpuilut uvin, aman ipi agel a asei em, ngai u hite,” ati.
Then said Absalom, Call now Hushai the Archite also, and let us hear likewise what he saith.
6 Hichun Hushai chu Absalom kom ahinpuilut taovin chuin Absalomin Ahithophel thusei chu Hushai aseipih tan ahi, chuin aman adongin, nangma lunggel epi ham? Hinsei in ahilouleh Ahithophel thumop hi ijui jing diu hytam? Ahilouleh epi nathumop nom em ati.
And when Hushai was come to Absalom, Absalom spake unto him, saying, Ahithophel hath spoken after this manner: shall we do [after] his saying? if not; speak thou.
7 Hijeh chun Hushai jong chun Absalom koma chun aseipaiyin, “Tuchunga Ahithophel mi hilna hi thilpha ahipoi,” ati tai.
And Hushai said unto Absalom, The counsel that Ahithophel hath given [is] not good at this time.
8 Hichun Hushai chun asei be kit nalai e, “Napa ahin amite ahiuvin mihat ahi, ti nangman jong na hetsa ahi; chujong le amahohi akiphin lung hangsa ahiuvin, gamlah a anou kilah peh savompi tobang ahiuve. Hiche tilou jong hin napa chu gal bol them tah mi ana hi kit’e; hijeh chun ama hi mipi ho toh geh khom lou hel ding ahi, ati.
For, said Hushai, thou knowest thy father and his men, that they [be] mighty men, and they [be] chafed in their minds, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field: and thy father [is] a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.
9 Tu jenga jong achang seh a kokhuh dung khat a kisel ham, ahilou leh mun chom dang khat a kisel ding ahitai. Chule ama ahungdoh a nahin bulu teng uleh namite themkhat chu hungthi tei ding, chuteng nasepai te chunga tijat nale kichat na hung lhung ding, chule hitia hi Absalom’s mite chu akithat tai tia thu hung kithang ding ahi.
Behold, he is hid now in some pit, or in some [other] place: and it will come to pass, when some of them be overthrown at the first, that whosoever heareth it will say, There is a slaughter among the people that follow Absalom.
10 Chuteng le galhang miho alung put sakeibah kai lung put tobang jeng ho jong chu kicha a hung lung lhadai gam diu ahi; ajeh chu napa chu mihat tah ahin, apan pi miho jong chu gal hang mi jeng ahiu’ve, ti hi Israel pumpin ahin hetdoh ding ahi.
And he also [that is] valiant, whose heart [is] as the heart of a lion, shall utterly melt: for all Israel knoweth that thy father [is] a mighty man, and [they] which [be] with him [are] valiant men.
11 Hijongle keima lunggel vang ahileh, Israel chate pumpi hi sahlam Dan gam'a apet lhanglam Beersheba gei in nangma koma hung kikhom soh kei u hen lang, twikhanglen pang a neldi jat aphah teng u leh nangma tah in mijouse chu lamkai lechun kati ahi.
Therefore I counsel that all Israel be generally gathered unto thee, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, as the sand that [is] by the sea for multitude; and that thou go to battle in thine own person.
12 Chuti hen lang hileh eihon David chu emuteng uleh, achung a ichuh cheh uva, tol'a dai twi alhah bang banga achunga ikibuh lhah cheh diua ahi. khuti henlang hile ama ahin apan pi miho jouse puma khat’a khat jeng cha jong ahingdoh umlou diu ahi.
So shall we come upon him in some place where he shall be found, and we will light upon him as the dew falleth on the ground: and of him and of all the men that [are] with him there shall not be left so much as one.
13 Chule ijem tin David chu khosung dung khat’a jamlut jongleh, Israel pumpin khao kipatsoh keiyin tin, chule akhopi chu kikai manghel’intin, song hal si khat geiya jong kidalha lou ding, ahi,” ati.
Moreover, if he be gotten into a city, then shall all Israel bring ropes to that city, and we will draw it into the river, until there be not one small stone found there.
14 Chuphat’in Absalom le Israel miten abonchauvin aseiyun, “Arkite mi Hushai thumop hi Ahithophel thumop sang in apha joi,” ati tau’ve. Ijeh-inem itileh Pakai in Absalom chunga thilse aso sah nom jeh a Ahithophel lung gel phatah chu suh lhah nadinga tohgon ananeisa ahitan ahi.
And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite [is] better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the LORD had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil upon Absalom.
15 Hichun Hushai chun thempu te ni Zadok le Abiathar chu asei peh in, “Hitobang hin chule hiti hin Ahithophel chun Absalom le Israel upa ho ahil chah tai; hichun keiman jong hitobang hin kahil guh kit’in ahi, atitai.
Then said Hushai unto Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, Thus and thus did Ahithophel counsel Absalom and the elders of Israel; and thus and thus have I counselled.
16 Hijeh chun tun mi sol loi lhon in lang David koma ga sei sah lhonin, ajeh chu ‘Tujan hin gamthip noi pal mun dunga ana geh hih beh in, iti nama jongle ana gal kai pai tei teiyin; achuti louva ahileh lengpa David le akilhonpi mite chu abonchauva min atha gam hel diu ahitai,’ tin ga sei sah lhon tan,” ati.
Now therefore send quickly, and tell David, saying, Lodge not this night in the plains of the wilderness, but speedily pass over; lest the king be swallowed up, and all the people that [are] with him.
17 Jonathan le Ahimaaz chun En-rogel mun a chu anga jing ji lhona, soh numei khat che’a amani chu thu aga pehji ahi; chutengle amani chepai kit ji lhona David lengpa agasei peh ji ji lhon ahi; Ijeh-inem itileh amani hi khopi sung ahung lut ji lhon le apotji lhon hi koimachan amu louhel nadinga umlhon ahi.
Now Jonathan and Ahimaaz stayed by En-rogel; for they might not be seen to come into the city: and a wench went and told them; and they went and told king David.
18 Ahin golhang khat chun amani hi amudoh tan, hi chun golhang pachu achen Absalom koma aga sei peh tai; hijeh chun amani jong kin loi tah in ache mang loi lhonin, Bahurim khoa pasal khat insung a ahunglut lhonin ahileh, amapa hin a in vel'a chun twikul khat aneiye; hijeh chun amani jong twikul sunga chun alut lhon in akisel lhon tai.
Nevertheless a lad saw them, and told Absalom: but they went both of them away quickly, and came to a man’s house in Bahurim, which had a well in his court; whither they went down.
19 Hichun numei khat hin twikul kam sin nading khat alan, akama chun aphan, achunga chun chang aphou khumin ahileh imacha aumlam akihe doh ta pon ahi.
And the woman took and spread a covering over the well’s mouth, and spread ground corn thereon; and the thing was not known.
20 Hichun Absalom sepaite chu hiche in mun a numeinu kom ahung phat’uvin ama hon jong, “Ahimaaz le Jonathan chu hoi lam a um lhon tam?” tia adoh uleh, numeinun jong ajah-uva asei peh in, “Amani chu twidung khu galkai lhon tan te” ati peh e. Amaho chun agahol’uvin amudoh joulou phat’uvin Jerusalem lama ahung kinungle kit tau’ve.
And when Absalom’s servants came to the woman to the house, they said, Where [is] Ahimaaz and Jonathan? And the woman said unto them, They be gone over the brook of water. And when they had sought and could not find [them], they returned to Jerusalem.
21 Hichun amaho ache phat’uvin Ahimaaz leh Jonathan chu twikul sunga konin ahung pot doh lhon in, achepai pai lhonin David lengpa aga sei peh lhon tan ahi. Amani hin David koma hitin asei lhon e, “Kipat doh loiyin lang, Jordan vadung gal kai loi tan ati; ajeh chu hitobang bang hin Ahithophel chun nang dou nan lung gel phalou lou mi ahil tai,” aga te lhon e.
And it came to pass, after they were departed, that they came up out of the well, and went and told king David, and said unto David, Arise, and pass quickly over the water: for thus hath Ahithophel counselled against you.
22 Chuphat’in David jong akipat doh pai pai in, ama lhonpi mipi chutoh akilhonin Jordan vadung agal kai tau’ve; chule khovah lhah phat in Jordan vadung galkai loulai khat cha aum tapou’ve.
Then David arose, and all the people that [were] with him, and they passed over Jordan: by the morning light there lacked not one of them that was not gone over Jordan.
23 Ahithophel hin athumop chu koiman alah peh lou amu doh phat chun sangan chunga touna akiphan, akhopi ainlama achetai. Chuin aman ain alou agol toh soh keiyin, chujouvin amale ama akikhai lih tai. chuin mihon amahi apa lhankhuh ma man avui tau’ve.
And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled [his] ass, and arose, and gat him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died, and was buried in the sepulchre of his father.
24 David chu Mahanaim kiti laiya chun ahungin ahi. Absalom jong chun Jordan vadung ahinpal galkai in ama ahin Israel chate abonchauva ahiu vin ahung tau’ve.
Then David came to Mahanaim. And Absalom passed over Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him.
25 Absalom hin Joab khel’in asepaite lamkai din Amasa kitipa chu ana pan sah tan ahi. Chule Amasa kitipa hi Ishmael mi pasal khat amin Jether kitipa chapa ahin, Jether hin Joab nu, Zeru’iah sopinu Nahash kitinu chanu Abigail chu aki chenpin ahi.
And Absalom made Amasa captain of the host instead of Joab: which Amasa [was] a man’s son, whose name [was] Ithra an Israelite, that went in to Abigail the daughter of Nahash, sister to Zeruiah Joab’s mother.
26 Chuin Israel chate leh Absalom hin Gilead gamsung a ngahmun asem tauvin ahi.
So Israel and Absalom pitched in the land of Gilead.
27 David chu Mahanaim ahung lhun phat’in, Ammon mite kho Rabbah a konin Nahash chapa Shobi le Lodebar khoa kona Ammiel chapa Makir toh, chule Rogelim khoa kona Gilead mi Barzillai chutoh ahung un ahi.
And it came to pass, when David was come to Mahanaim, that Shobi the son of Nahash of Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and Machir the son of Ammiel of Lo-debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite of Rogelim,
28 Chuin lupna jalkhun phabep le kisil na kong ho, leibel phabep toh, suhlou chang le sakol chang, neh ding an, chule changpol kansa, louthul le bekan ahin pouvin ahi.
Brought beds, and basons, and earthen vessels, and wheat, and barley, and flour, and parched [corn], and beans, and lentiles, and parched [pulse],
29 Chujongle khoiju le bongnoiha ahin, kelngoi jong, bongnoi thao jong David le alhonpi miho neh ding chun ahinpou’ve; ijeh-inem itileh amaho hin asei uvin, “David le aloi te mipi hi gamthip laiya gilkel’uva tha lhasam tah a’umah ahi tauve,” atiuvin ahi.
And honey, and butter, and sheep, and cheese of kine, for David, and for the people that [were] with him, to eat: for they said, The people [is] hungry, and weary, and thirsty, in the wilderness.
