2 Samuel 11
1 Chavang laile chonna ngai dan a anaum leng ho galkon phat laiyin David jong chun Joab le asepaite toh Israel chate abonchan galkon din asoltai; amaho jong acheuvin Ammon sepaite agasumang un, chule Rabbah kho aga umtauve. Ahin David vang chu Jerusalem khopia aumden jing nai.
And it comes to pass, at the revolution of the year—at the time of the going out of the messengers—that David sends Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel, and they destroy the sons of Ammon, and lay siege against Rabbah, but David is dwelling in Jerusalem.
2 Nikhat hi nilhah lam ni kihei don hin David jong asunchol na jalkhun'a konin athou doh in leng Inpi inchunga chun avah len ahileh, inchunga kon chun numei melhoi khat akisil pet tah amun ahi.
And it comes to pass, at evening-time, that David rises from off his bed, and walks up and down on the roof of the king’s house, and sees a woman bathing from the roof, and the woman [is] of very good appearance,
3 Hijeh chun David’in mi asol in numeinu chu koi ham, tin agadoh le sah tai. Hichea hin mi khat chun, “Hiche nu hi Eliam chanu, Hittite mipa Uriah jinu Bathsheba chu ahi” tin aseipih tai.
and David sends and inquires about the woman, and [someone] says, “Is this not Bathsheba, daughter of Eliam, wife of Uriah the Hittite?”
4 Hichun David’in mi sottol le ho asol in amanu chu aga puisah in, Bathsheba jong chu leng inpi sung ahung lut’in, chuin David chun amanu chu aluppi tan ahi. Hichepet a hi Bathsheba chu athi neijou akisuh theng jou chabou ahi; akichaiyin amanu jong a inlama achetai.
And David sends messengers, and takes her, and she comes to him, and he lies with her—and she is purifying herself from her uncleanness—and she turns back to her house;
5 Phat chomkhat jouvin Bathsheban nao avop ahin kihetdoh phat’in aman David koma hitin thu athot in, “Keiman nao kavoptai,” ati.
and the woman conceives, and sends, and declares [it] to David, and says, “I [am] conceiving.”
6 Hichun David in Joab chu thu athot in: “Uriah kitipa Hittite mipa chu kahenga hinsol temin,” ati. Hijeh chun Joab in jong Uriah chu David lengpa hengah ahinsol tan ahi.
And David sends to Joab, [saying], “Send Uriah the Hittite to me,” and Joab sends Uriah to David;
7 Chuin Uriah chu David kom ahung lhun phat’in, David’in jong Joab umchan chule mipi itobang banga um uva chule agal sat u machal jing hinam tin adongin ahi.
and Uriah comes to him, and David asks of the prosperity of Joab, and of the prosperity of the people, and of the prosperity of the war.
8 Chujouvin David in Uriah koma aseitai, ‘Na-in lama nomin chesuh tan, Hijeh chun Uriah jong leng inpi adalhan achesuh tai, chuin leng ipi adalhah chun anunga chun lengpa insunga konin thilpeh ding khat ahin choi peh pai paiyuvin ahi.
And David says to Uriah, “Go down to your house, and wash your feet”; and Uriah goes out of the king’s house, and there goes out a gift from the king after him,
9 Ahivangin Uriah chu inlang achipon, lengpa kotpi phung bula kotkhah ngah ho toh chun hiche jan chun alum den tan ahi.
and Uriah lies down at the opening of the king’s house, with all the servants of his lord, and has not gone down to his house.
10 Hichun David in Uriah a inlam achilou ahin hetdoh phat chun, akou in epi jeh ham ti adong tan ahi, “Kholgama kona hung lhung nahilou ham, ibola na in lama chelouva naum ham?” tin aseitai.
And they declare [it] to David, saying, “Uriah has not gone down to his house”; and David says to Uriah, “Have you not come from a journey? Why have you not gone down to your house?”
11 Hichun Uriah’in David koma aseijin, “Pathen thingkong le Israel chate chule Judah mite lhambuh jenga cheng ahiuvin, kapu sepaite kapupa Joab le asepaite jong tollhang lah a ngahmun mai maiya cheng ahiuve; ipi dinga keima in'a kachea kadu du kaneh a atui tui kadona kajinu angsunga nomtah a kalup ding ham? Nangma damlai sung le nahinkho phatlai sungsen keiman hitobang kinopsah na thil hi bol ponge,’ tin aseiye.
And Uriah says to David, “The ark, and Israel, and Judah, are abiding in shelters, and my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, are encamping on the face of the field; and should I go to my house to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? [By] your life and the life of your soul—if I do this thing.”
12 Chuphat’in David chun Uriah koma aseijin, “aphai tuni jong hikoma umtan, jing tengle navaikon doh sah nange,” atitai. Hijeh chun Uriah jong chuchi nikho le ajing nikho chun Jerusalema anichongtai ahi.
And David says to Uriah, “Also abide in this [place] today, and tomorrow I send you away”; and Uriah abides in Jerusalem on that day and on the next day,

and David calls for him, and he eats before him, and drinks, and he causes him to drink, and he goes out in the evening to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, and he has not gone down to his house.
14 Chuin Ajing jingkah chun David’in Joab lekha khat athot in hichu Uriah khut’a agah thot’e.
And it comes to pass in the morning that David writes a letter to Joab and sends [it] by the hand of Uriah;
15 Lekha sunga hin David chun hitin asune, “Uriah hi gal kisatna ahah lai laiya amasan pansah uvin lang chutengle gal miten atha teitei nadin ama achangseh'in dalhauvin,” tin asune.
and he writes in the letter, saying, “Place Uriah in front of the face of the most severe battle, and you have turned back from after him, and he has been struck, and has died.”
16 Hijeh chun Joab injong khopi khat aum phat’in mihat tah tah panmun ahi, tia ahetsa bangkom laitah a chun Uriah chu apansah tan ahi.
And it comes to pass in Joab’s watching of the city, that he appoints Uriah to the place where he knew that valiant men [were];
17 Chuin khopi sunga sepaite ahung kondoh uvin Joab chutoh akisat tauvin ahi; chule hichemun a chun Hittite mi Uriah jaonan mipi lah a David sepaite phabep jong athat tauvin ahi.
and the men of the city go out and fight with Joab, and [some] of the people, from the servants of David, fall; and Uriah the Hittite also dies.
18 Hichun Joab’in jong mi asol in gal kisat umchan jouse chu David koma aga lhutsah tai.
And Joab sends and declares to David all the matters of the war,
19 Hichun asottolle mipa chu ahilchah masan, “Lengpa koma chu gal kisat thusim aboncha nasei soh kei ding ahi, ati.
and commands the messenger, saying, “At your finishing all the matters of the war to speak to the king,
20 Ahin Ijem tia lengpa alung han jeng tah a nangkoma, ‘Ibola chutobang a chu khopi nanai lut jenguva kisat pi dinga nacheuba ham? Kulpi bang dunga kona nahin kap jeng diu nahet louvu ham?
then, it has been, if the king’s fury ascends, and he has said to you, Why did you draw near to the city to fight? Did you not know that they shoot from off the wall?
21 Chule Gideon chapa Abimelech chu koi tha ham? Bangvuma kona numei khat’in sumhei song ahinlhah sah leh alhah khum khah a hijeh a chu Thebez kiti laiya chu thiden hilou ham? Ibola hitobang tah a chu bang nanai lut jengu ham?’ tia asei leh; nangman, ‘Nasohpa Hittite mi Uriah jong athi tai,’ tia na seipeh ding ahi,” tin ahil’e.
Who struck Abimelech son of Jerubbesheth? Did a woman not cast a piece of a rider from the wall on him, and he dies in Thebez? Why did you draw near to the wall? That you have said, Also—your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead.”
22 Hichun sottolle pachu Jerusalem ahungin David koma Joab in asol lo na jouse chu abonchan ahilsoh kei tan ahi.
And the messenger goes, and comes in, and declares to David all that with which Joab sent him,
23 Hichun sottolle pa chun David hengah hitin aseiye, “Gal miten keiho eihin joujo tauvin, keiho dou nan tollhanga ahung kitol doh jenguve; ahivangin keihon jong kelkot phung lam chan in kaledel lut kit’uvin ahi.
and the messenger says to David, “Surely the men have been mighty against us, and come out to us into the field, and we are on them to the opening of the gate,
24 Chuin galmi thalpi kap them hon banga konin nasohte lengpa sepai phabep jong ahinkap lih taovin, chule nasohpa Uriah jeng jong athitai,’ ati.
and those shooting shoot at your servants from off the wall, and [some] of the servants of the king are dead, and also, your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead.”
25 Hichun David jong chun sottolle pa koma chun aseiyin, “Nangman Joab koma hitia hi nasei ding ahi; Hiche thilsoh jeh hin nangma lunglhadai hih in, ajeh chu chemjamin khat khat’a abantan tan ahitai; aban teng natha hatsah jon lang khopi chu delkhumin, tin seipeh in, hiti chun Joab chu atilkhou tan,’ ahi.
And David says to the messenger, “Thus you say to Joab, Do not let this thing be evil in your eyes; for thus and thus the sword devours; strengthen your warfare against the city, and throw it down; so you strengthen him.”
26 Chuin Uriah jinun ajipa Uriah chu athitai, ti ajah doh phat in ajipa dingin akap’in apul adoutan ahi.
And the wife of Uriah hears that her husband Uriah [is] dead, and laments for her lord;
27 Amanu pul douna phat akichai’in David’in mi asolin amanu chu leng inpi sungah agapui lutsah tai, chule Bathsheba in David chu chapa khat ahinpeh tai. hinla David thilbol achonna chungah Pakai alung lhai tapoi ahi.
and the mourning passes by, and David sends and gathers her to his house, and she is to him for a wife, and bears a son to him; and the thing which David has done is evil in the eyes of YHWH.
