< 2 Samuel 10 >
1 Hiche jouphat chomkhat jouvin, Ammon mite lengpa Nahash chu athitan, hijeh chun achapa Hanun kitipan Ammon mite chungah lengvai ahinpo tan ahi.
Now after these things, it happened that the king of the sons of Ammon died, and his son Hanun reigned after him.
2 Hichun David’in jong aseiyin, “Nahash chapa Hanun hi apan keima jana neitah a eina bol bang banga ken jong amahi jana neitah a kabol ding ahi,” tin anaseiye. Hijeh chun David’in jong sottolle ho asol’in Hanun chu apa thi jeh a lhem mong din asol peh e. ahin David sottolle ho chu Ammon mite gamsunga aga lhun phat un,
And David said, “I will show mercy to Hanun, the son of Nahash, just as his father showed mercy to me.” Therefore, David sent consolation to him, by his servants, over the passing of his father. But when the servants of David had arrived in the land of the sons of Ammon,
3 Ammon mite lamkai hon apupau Hanun koma chun aseiyuvin, ‘Nangman nagelthei mong hinam hiche mihohi napa jabol dinga hichemun hung ahi tia? Ahipoi! David’in khopi hi hunga suhgam ding agot jeh a sottolle hohi khopi sung kholtoh leh velhi le dinga ahinsol ahibouve tin aseipeh tauve.
the leaders of the sons of Ammon said to Hanun, their lord: “Do you think it was because of the honor of your father that David sent consolers to you? And did not David send his servants to you, so that he might investigate and explore the city, and so that he might overthrow it?”
4 Hijeh chun Hanun hin David sottolle ho chu abonchauvin aman in melse tah in akhamul akeh langkhat avo chaipeh soh keiyin, chule aponsilu le akivon nau akimlai tah akongbuh dontah achetan peh soh keijun jachat umtah in anungsol taovin ahi.
And so, Hanun took the servants of David, and he shaved off one half part of their beards, and he cut their garments at the middle, as far as the buttocks, and he sent them away.
5 Hiti chun David sohte chunga thusoh ho David in ajahdoh phat in, amiteho thu gaseipih din mi asol tan ahi “Nakhamul’u akikhan lhit kit masang sen Jericho khopia hung umden unlang akikhan lhit tengle hung kile kit tauvin,” tin thu ahiltai. Ajeh chu amahohin alimsou chu ajachatpi mong mong u ahi.
And when this had been reported to David, he sent to meet them. And the men were greatly disturbed by shame. And David commanded them, “Remain in Jericho, until your beards grow, and then return.”
6 Chujouvin Ammon miten echangeija David chu asuh lunghang u akihet doh phat’uvin, Ammon mite akihou toh-uvin Bethrehob a cheng Syria mite leh Zobah a cheng Syria mite tol'a panga galsat sepai sang som ni thalah dingle, Maacah lengpa le amite sang khat thalah ding chule Tob mite sang som le sang ni thalah dingin mi asol tauve.
Now the sons of Ammon, seeing that they had done an injury to David, sent for, and paid wages to, the Syrians of Rehob, and the Syrians of Zobah, twenty thousand foot soldiers, and from the king of Maacah, one thousand men, and from Tob, twelve thousand men.
7 Hiche thusoh David lengpan ajah doh phat’in lamkai Joab le asepaite mihat chengse chu abonchauvin gal boldin asoltai.
And when David had heard this, he sent Joab and the entire army of warriors.

Then the sons of Ammon went forth, and they positioned their battle line before the very entrance of the gates. But the Syrians of Zobah, and of Rehob, and of Tob, and of Maacah, were by themselves in the field.
9 Joab chun amasanglam le anunglama gal miten ating tan to tai, ti amudoh phat’in, Israel lah a mi son um lhentum cheh phabep alhengdoh in, Arameans mite dou din mun onglai ah apansah tai.
And so, seeing that the battle had been prepared against him, both facing him and behind, Joab chose some from all of the elect men of Israel, and he set up a battle line opposite the Syrians.
10 Chule mi amoh chengse chu asopipa Abishai lamkai peh din akoiyin, Abishaiyin asopite chengse chu Ammon mite toh kisat to din agol toh tai.
But the remaining part of the people he delivered to his brother Abishai, who formed a battle line against the sons of Ammon.
11 Chuin Joab’in aseitai, “Arameans mite hi Keima dinga ahat behseh jenguva ahileh nangman neihung kithopin lang, chule Ammon mite chu nang dinga ahatval behseh jenguva ahijongle keima hung ing ting nahung kithopi nange, ati.
And Joab said: “If the Syrians prevail against me, then you shall assist me. But if the sons of Ammon prevail against you, then I will assist you.
12 Hijeh chun hangtah in hung pang uvin lang, imiteu ding leh i-Pathen’u khopi jouse din pasal jouse chu hatah in pangu hitin; chule Pakaiyin lungdei chu guilhung tahen,”ati.
Be valiant men. And let us fight on behalf of our people and the city of our God. Then the Lord will do what is good in his own sight.”
13 Hiti hin Joab le ama toh pang khom sepaiho chun Arameans mite chu asat pan un ahileh; Arameans mite chu ajamcheh gam tauvin ahi.
And so, Joab, and the people who were with him, undertook the conflict against the Syrians, who immediately fled before their face.

Then, seeing that the Syrians had fled, the sons of Ammon themselves also fled from the face of Abishai, and they entered into the city. And Joab returned from the sons of Ammon, and he went to Jerusalem.
15 Hichun Arameans miten Israel chate toh kidinte joulou ding ahiu chu ahin kihetdoh phat un ahung kithah gopkhom kit uvin,
And so, the Syrians, seeing that they had fallen before Israel, gathered themselves together.

And Hadadezer sent and brought the Syrians who were beyond the river, and he led in their army. And Shobach, the ruler of the military of Hadadezer, was their leader.
17 Chuin David in hitabang thil umchan chu ajah phat in, aman jong Israel chate pumpi akhom khom soh keiyin chule Jordan ahung galkaiyin Helam channah a sepai te ahin puilhung tan ahi. Hichun Arameans mite jong David lengpa dou din achamtah un anapang uvin akisatpi tauve.
And when this had been reported to David, he drew together all of Israel. And he crossed over the Jordan, and he went to Helam. And the Syrians formed a battle line opposite David, and they fought against him.
18 Ahinlah Arameans mite chu Israel te masanga ajam kit tauvin ahi. hichea hin David sepai ten Arameans sepai sakol them ho mi jasagi le tol'a pang sepai sangsomli chule agal lamkaipau Shobach kitipa jaonan athat taovin ahi.
And the Syrians fled before the face of Israel. And David killed, among the Syrians, the men of seven hundred chariots, and forty thousand horsemen. And he struck down Shobach, the leader of the military, who immediately died.
19 Chuin Lengte jousen Hadadezer toh akitho vang uva Israel te ajolou u amudoh phat un, Israel mite khut ah akipelut un amaho noijah aum taovin ahi. hichejou a pet chun Arameans mite chun Ammon mite kithopi ding chu akicha taovin ahi.
Then all the kings who were in the reinforcements of Hadadezer, seeing themselves to be defeated by Israel, were very afraid and they fled: fifty-eight thousand men before Israel. And they made peace with Israel, and they served them. And the Syrians were afraid to offer assistance to the sons of Ammon anymore.
