1 Israel gamsunga Rehoboam leng chan kal kum somle get lhin kumin, Abijah chun Judah gam sunga vai ahin hom panin ahi.
In the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam, Abijah began to reign over Judah.
2 Aman Jerusalem a kumthum lengvai ahinpon, anu chu Gebiah mi Uriel chanu Maacah ahi. Chuin Abijah le Jeroboam kah’a gal asohdoh tan ahi.
He reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Micaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. There was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.
3 Judah te lengpa Abijah chun galhang mi sang jali alhengin, akhom tupmin alamkaiyin; alangkhatna Jeroboam chun Israel gamsunga konin sepai sang jaget akhom doh kit’in ahi.
Abijah joined battle with an army of valiant men of war, even four hundred thousand chosen men; and Jeroboam set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, who were mighty men of valour.
4 Judah sepai ho chu Ephraim thinglhang gam ahung lhun phat uchun, Abijah chu Zemorin molchunga adding in Jeroboam le Israel techu asam in, “Neihin ngaipeh temun,
Abijah stood up on Mount Zemaraim, which is in the hill country of Ephraim, and said, “Hear me, Jeroboam and all Israel:
5 Pakai Israel te Pathen in David toh kitepna asema amale achilhah te Israel laltouna atonsotna dinga apeh chu nagel doh lou’u hitam?”
Ought you not to know that the LORD, the God of Israel, gave the kingdom over Israel to David forever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?
6 Ahivangin David chapa Solomon lhachaa pang mai mai Nabet chapa Jeroboam chun, apupa adouvin ahi.
Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up, and rebelled against his lord.
7 Chujongleh migilou pumpi chun ama ajopmun, Solomon chapa Rehoboam chapangcha le hetna thepna neiloulai chu athu ngailouvin; dingdoh theilou khopmin ana lhauvin ahi.
Worthless men were gathered to him, wicked fellows who strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and tender hearted, and could not withstand them.
8 Chule tun David chihlhah te khutna um Pakai lenggam dou dingin tohgon nasem kit uvin, nanghon sepai tampi leh Jeroboam in na Pathen diuva asem sana Bongnou lim chu nanei maithei’u ahinai.
“Now you intend to withstand the kingdom of the LORD in the hand of the sons of David. You are a great multitude, and the golden calves which Jeroboam made you for gods are with you.
9 Hijongleh nanghon Pakai thempu nakilhen’u hilouham? Koi hijongleh bongnou khatle kelngoi sagi toh, hiche alim semthu na pathen hou komma hung kipedoh tapou chu thempua napansah jiu ahi.
Haven’t you driven out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and made priests for yourselves according to the ways of the peoples of other lands? Whoever comes to consecrate himself with a young bull and seven rams may be a priest of those who are no gods.
10 Keiho dinga vang Pakai chu ka Pathen’u ahi, chule keihon ama chu ka dalha pouve; Pakai lhacha’a pang thempu ho chu Aaron chapate bou ahiuvin, Leviten akithopi jiu ahi.
“But as for us, the LORD is our God, and we have not forsaken him. We have priests serving the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites in their work.
11 Amaho seh jingkah nilhah seh in Pakai angsunga pumgo thilto le gim namtui hal aboljiuvin ahi. Nilhah sehle dokhang theng chunga chun changlhah agoldoh jiuvin, chule sana thaomei chunga chun thaomei ho avah jiuvin ahi. Keihon Pakai ka Pathen thuhil kajui jing un, ahinlah nanghon ama chu nalha tauve.
They burn to the LORD every morning and every evening burnt offerings and sweet incense. They also set the show bread in order on the pure table, and care for the gold lamp stand with its lamps, to burn every evening; for we keep the instruction of the LORD our God, but you have forsaken him.
12 Chuti chun veuvin Pathen chun eiumpiuve. Amahi kalamkai pao ahi, Ama thempu hon asumkon’u amut uva galmuna nang douna eilamkaiju ahi. “Vo Israel mite, Pakai napu napa teu dounan galsat hih un; ajeh chu na lolhin lou diu ahi.”
Behold, God is with us at our head, and his priests with the trumpets of alarm to sound an alarm against you. Children of Israel, don’t fight against the LORD, the God of your fathers; for you will not prosper.”
13 Hiche kahla achun Jeroboam chun guhthim chan asepaite phabap khat chu, Judah te nung lama konna umkim vella changlhi din asel’in ahi.
But Jeroboam caused an ambush to come about behind them; so they were before Judah, and the ambush was behind them.
14 Judah techun anung ama konna ahung kino khumu chu ahetdoh phat uchun, akithopi diuvin Pakai koma ataouvin, chuin thempu hon sumkon amut un,
When Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind them; and they cried to the LORD, and the priests sounded with the trumpets.
15 chule Judah mite chun kho asam pan tauvin ahi. Agalsat khosap ogin husan chun Pathen in Jeroboam chu ajopeh un chule Israel te Abijah le Judah te sepaiho masang chun adelmang tan ahi.
Then the men of Judah gave a shout. As the men of Judah shouted, God struck Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.
16 Israel sepai ho chu Judah te masanga konin ajamang un, chuin Pathen in Judahte chu Israel mite khut nakon ahuh dohtan ahi.
The children of Israel fled before Judah, and God delivered them into their hand.
17 Abijah le sepaite chun amaho chu nasatah in atong khaovin, hiche ni chun Israelte sepai athemcheh mi sang janga athi in ahi.
Abijah and his people killed them with a great slaughter, so five hundred thousand chosen men of Israel fell down slain.
18 Hiti chun hiche thilsoh chunga hin Judah ten Israel te ajou un ahi.
Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied on the LORD, the God of their fathers.
19 Abijah le asepaite chun Jeroboam sepai ho chu aga nung del peh-un, khopi phabep Bethel, Jeshanah le Ephron jaonan chule akimvella kho neo ho chu aga la tauvin ahi.
Abijah pursued Jeroboam, and took cities from him: Bethel with its villages, Jeshanah with its villages, and Ephron with its villages.
20 Chuti chun Abijah dam sungin Jeroboam chu athaneina akinung le doh kit tapon, chule achaina lama Pakai in ajeplhun athi tan ahi.
Jeroboam didn’t recover strength again in the days of Abijah. The LORD struck him, and he died.
21 Ahinlah Abijah thaneina vang chu akhangtou jingin, Abijah chun ji numei somle li aneiyin; chule chapa somnile ni le chanu somle gup aneiyin ahi.
But Abijah grew mighty and took for himself fourteen wives, and became the father of twenty-two sons and sixteen daughters.
22 Abijah Lengvaipoh sunga thilsoh dang hole, athusei alahsah hole anatoh athibol ho jouse chu; Iddo themgao Lekhabua chun akijih lut soh keiyin ahi.
The rest of the acts of Abijah, his ways, and his sayings are written in the commentary of the prophet Iddo.
