< 1 Timothy 5 >

1 Upa tehseho chu phoh hih-in, napa tobang'in jana neitah'in jolthon, khangdong pasalho chu napenpi nasopitah tobang'in kihoupin,
Never administer a sharp reprimand to a man older than yourself; but entreat him as if he were your father, and the younger men as brothers;
2 Nupi tehseho chu nanu tobang'in gel inlang, nasanga dongjo numeiho chu napenpi nasopinu tobang'in lungthengtah-in kaihoiyin.
the elder women too as mothers, and the younger women as sisters, with perfect modesty.
3 Ajending koimacha neilou meithai hochu jana neitah-in kaihoiyin,
Honour widows who are really in need.
4 Ahinlah chate le tute nei ahiuleh amopohnau masapen chu a-insunga Pathen mikhotona apohdoh dingu, ahinguvah anule apateu phatna ngailutna-a alethuh diu ahi. Hichu Pathen lung lhaina ahi.
But if a widow has children or grandchildren, let these learn first to show piety towards their own homes and to prove their gratitude to their parents; for this is well pleasing in the sight of God.
5 Amavang leiset chunga ainsungmi umtalou meithai dihtah hochun Pathena akingapnau ngaplhahna aneitheiyun, Pathen in apanpina diuvin sunle jan in ataojingun ahi.
A widow who is really in need, friendless and desolate, has her hopes fixed on God, and continues at her supplications and prayers, night and day;
6 Ahinlah meithai nopsahna hinkhoa kimang chajing hovang ahinlai sunga jong athisa ahiuve.
but a pleasure-loving widow is dead even while still alive.
7 Amaho chu miseiset achanlouna diuva hiche thupeh hohi napeh ding ahi.
Press these facts upon them, so that they may live lives free from reproach.
8 Ahinlah koihileh ama sopite ding khohsahna neilou adeh deh'a ama insung mite ding khohsah louho chun tahsan dihtah chu apaidoh-u ahitan, hitobang ho chu atahsanlouho sanga khohjo ahiuve.
But if a man makes no provision for those dependent on him, and especially for his own family, he has disowned the faith and is behaving worse than an unbeliever.
9 Kithopi dinga amin kikhum meithaiho chu alhompen a kum somgup hiding, ajipa anga kitahna ana neimi hiding ahi.
No widow is to be put on the roll who is under sixty years of age.
10 Amachu achate ahin khoukhahna a athilphabol jeh'a mijouse jana changmi hiding, maljin khoto, tahsan kibahpiho kisunemtah a jenmi hiding, hahsatna tohho kithopi nommi hiding ahi.
She must have been true to her one husband, and well reported of for good deeds, as having brought up children, received strangers hospitably, washed the feet of God's people, given relief to the distressed, and devoted herself to good works of every kind.
11 Khangdong meithaiho vang panglou diu ahi, ajeh chu Christa dinga akipehnau sanga atahsau ngaichatna chu hatjoding jineikit nomdiu ahi.
But the younger widows you must not enrol; for as soon as they begin to chafe against the yoke of Christ, they want to marry,
12 Hiche chun kitepna aneisau chu asuhkeh-a themona changdiu ahi.
and they incur disapproval for having broken their original vow.
13 Chuleh amaho chun thaset hinpanuntin intina vahle untin, thuchavai seina'a kipeuvintin, mi natohna-a gakikum lediu chuleh akinlouva thuseina'a gakamjao lediu ahi.
And at the same time they also learn to be idle as they go round from house to house; and they are not only idle, but are gossips also and busybodies, speaking of things that ought not to be spoken of.
14 Hijeh chun hitobang khangdong meithai hohi ajineikit uva cha aneidiu, inchen akisemdiu kaphatsah ahi. Chutileh melma chun amaho chu aseisetna diu agomkom aneilou diu ahi.
I would therefore have the younger women marry, bear children, rule in domestic matters, and furnish the Adversary with no excuse for slander.
15 Ajehchu amaho lah a phabep khat hi achelengun, Satan nung ajui tauve tihin eitijat sah'in ahi.
For already some of them have gone astray, following Satan.
16 Tahsancha numei khat chun sopi meithai aneiya ahileh amaho chu phatah-in kivetsui henlang mopohna houbung chunga ngapdahen. Chutileh houbungin achangseh'a cheng meithaiho phatah-a avetsuithei dingu ahi.
If a believing woman has widows dependent on her, she should relieve their wants, and save the Church from being burdened--so that the Church may relieve the widows who are really in need.
17 Houbung Upa akin phatah-a tongho adehset athupha lhangsapna le thuhilna-a hapanho chu jana pehding chuleh atohman jong phatah a pehding ahi.
Let the Elders who perform their duties wisely and well be held worthy of double honour, especially those who labour in preaching and teaching.
18 Ajehchu Pathen thun, “Bongchal changchila chu amuh kikan hihhen chujongleh natonga chu atohman asanding lomtah ahi,” ati.
For the Scripture says, "You are not to muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain;" and the workman deserves his pay.
19 Houbung lhacha khat chunga hehna aumleh hettohsah mini, mithum aumlouleh lahih in.
Never entertain an accusation against an Elder except on the evidence of two of three witnesses.
20 Adanghon kichatna aneitheina dingin achonseho chu mipi angsunga sosal'in.
Those who persist in sin reprove in the presence of all, so that it may also be a warning to the rest.
21 Pathen leh Yeshua Christa chuleh vantil sangpen ho mitmua hiche thuhi kapeh nahi, hiche thupeh hohi langnei naleh sihneina koimacha koma neilouvin mangchan.
I solemnly call upon you, in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of the elect angels, to carry out these instructions of mine without prejudice, and to do nothing from partiality.
22 Houbung sunga Pakai lhacha napansah ding tengleh kino hihbeh in. Midang chonsetna-a kinunat hih-in, nangle nang kisuthengin.
Do not ordain any one hastily; and do not be a partaker in the sins of others; keep yourself pure.
23 Tuisih jengseh donhih in, naveiset jeh leh nagilpi damlouna jeh in lengpitwi themkhat khat anamang jitan.
(No longer be a water-drinker; but take a little wine for the sake of your digestion and your frequent ailments.)
24 Miphabep chonsetna hi mijouse het in akilangin, suhdihthei ahi. Ahinla miphabep chonsetna hi khonungle bou hung kilang ding loi aume ti sumil hih in.
The sins of some men are evident to the world, leading the way to your estimate of their characters, but the sins of others lag behind.
25 Chutobang chun miphabep thilpha bol hi mipi het in akilangdoh theiyin, chuleh miphabep in thilpha abol hi phatkhat lebou hung kilang doh ding ahi.
So also the right actions of some are evident to the world, and those that are not cannot remain for ever out of sight.
