Now the Philistines had taken the ark of God, and they brought it from Eben-ezer unto Ashdod.
2 Amahon Pathen thingkong chu apu-uvin Dagon milim houna inah akoitauve,
And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon.
3 Ahin ajing jingkah matah’in Ashdod khosung miten agavet ule Dagon chu Pakai thingkong masang ah chun amaichang tol lang ana ngan ana lhun ahi. Chuin amahon Dagon chu aphongding un, akitunna ma ma a chun akoikit tauvin ahi.
And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again.
4 Ahin ajing jingkah in angai ngaiyin, Dagon chu Pakai thingkong masang ah chun amai tol lang ana ngan ana lhu kit in ahi. Tuchung in vang, akhutphang teni le aluchang chu tanbohsan kotbul lamah ana um'in, Dagon atahsa bou chu kitup chet in ana kijam in ahi.
And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands lay cut off upon the threshold; only the trunk of Dagon was left to him.
5 Hijeh chun Dagon thempupa hihen lang, koi hijongle Ashdod khoa Dagon insunga hung jouse chun Dagon kijamna mun chu akeng’a ana chotpha louhel u ahi.
Therefore neither the priests of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon's house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod unto this day.
6 Hijeh chun Pakai khut gih tah chu Ashdod mite chungah gih tah in achun, chule amaho le akho kom a kho ho chung’a chun tijat umtah in abol genthei lheh tan ahi,
But the hand of the LORD was heavy upon them of Ashdod, and He destroyed them, and smote them with emerods, even Ashdod and the borders thereof.
7 Hichu mipiten ahetdoh phat’un, akapjah jengun, “Eihon Pathen thing khong ikomuva ikoi sot theilou diu ahi! Ama chu eihotoh kidou ahibouve, ipathenu Dagon toh eisuh mangtha diu ahibouve,” atiuvin ahi.
And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said: 'The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us; for His hand is sore upon us, and upon Dagon our god.'
8 Hijeh chun amahon Philistine milen milal jouse aheng uvah akou khom un, “Israel Pathen thingkong hi i-ilodiu hitam?” atiuve. Chuin mipiten adonbut’un, Israel Pathen Thingkong chu Gath lamah kipo tahen tin akinopto tauvin ahi. Hijeh chun amahon Israel Pathen thing khong chu Gath lamah apolut tauve.
They sent therefore and gathered all the lords of the Philistines unto them, and said: 'What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel?' And they answered: 'Let the ark of the God of Israel be carried about unto Gath.' And they carried the ark of the God of Israel about thither.
9 Pathen thingkong Gath a agalhun phat un, Pathen khut thahat gihtah chu mite chunga achun, khopi sunga mite chu alen aneo abonchauvin ajep’in, uilut alansah tan ahi.
And it was so, that, after they had carried it about, the hand of the LORD was against the city with a very great discomfiture; and He smote the men of the city, both small and great, and emerods broke out upon them.
10 Hijeh chun amahon Pathen thingkong chu Ekron khopi ah atoldoh kit tauve, ahin Ekron miten amu phat un akapjah kit jengun, amahon Israel Pathen thingkong ahin thahlut jengu hi, eiho hi thigam nao hen, eitiuva ahi atiuve.
So they sent the ark of God to Ekron. And it came to pass, as the ark of God came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying: 'They have brought about the ark of the God of Israel to us, to slay us and our people.'
11 Hichun mipite hon Philistine lamkai ho thu apeuvin, ngehna aneiyun, “Lungset tah in Israel Pathen thingkong hi agamlang uva nathahlut pehlou uva ahileh Ibonchauva eitha gam dingu ahi,” akitiuve. Ajeh chu hihe khopi jouse sunga chu suhgamna nasatah uma ahitan, Pathen khut chu gihsatah chua ahitai.
They sent therefore and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and they said: 'Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go back to its own place, that it slay us not, and our people'; for there was a deadly discomfiture throughout all the city; the hand of God was very heavy there.
12 Mihem athimoh ho chunga chun uilut achun, chule khopia kon awgin hung gin chun Van chan alhungin ahi.
And the men that died not were smitten with the emerods; and the cry of the city went up to heaven.
