< 1 Samuel 24 >

1 Saul in Philistine mite agasat-a ahung kile jouvin, David En-gedi gamthip mun’ah aluttai tithu aseipeh tauvin ahi.
And it came to pass, when Saul was returned from pursuing the Philistines, that it was told to him, saying, Behold, David is in the wilderness of 'En-gedi.
2 Hijeh chun Saul in Israel mite jousea konin galsat them cheh mi sangthum akilhen doh’in David le amite holding in gam-kelcha umna songkol lang’ah aga hol tauvin ahi.
Then took Saul three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men upon the rocks of the wild goats.
3 Saul chu ahunga ahile lampia kelngoi honlah khat agatoh khan, hiche laiya chun songkohom khat aumin, hikoma chu chomkhat kicholdo din aluttai, hiche songko sunga adan sungnung lang ma ma-a chu David le aloite kisella uma ahi.
And he came to the sheepfolds by the way, and there was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet: and David and his men were sitting in the lower end of the cave.
4 David aloihon ajah a guhthimin, “Tuhi nang dia phat kijen petcha ahi! Tunia hi Pakaiyin asei, ‘Keiman namel mapa chu nakhut’a kapeh doha, nangman naphatsah lamlama nabol ding ahi.’tia asei nikho chu tunia hi hung lhunga ahitai,” atiuve. Hijeh chun David jong akipatdoh in, kangchan akithol thol’in, Saul sangkhol chol mong chu aga-at tan peh tan ahi.
And the men of David said unto him, Behold, this is the day of which the Lord hath said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thy enemy into thy hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good in thy eyes. And David arose, and cut off the corner of the robe which Saul wore, unperceived.
5 Ahin David in Saul sangkhol chol mong chu aga-at tan chu alungsunga nommo asan ahi.
And it came to pass afterward, that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off the corner of Saul's [robe].
6 Hijeh chun amite jah’a, “Pakaiyin ahet ahi, hiche hi kanabol louding dol ahi, ajeh chu amahi ka pakai le kaleng ahi. Pakaiyin adeilou, ka Pakai le ka lengpa chunga hiche kabol hi alhendohsa le athaonu doudal kahi,” atin ahi.
And he said unto his men, Far be it from me for the Lord's sake, that I should do this thing unto my master, the Lord's anointed, to stretch forth my hand against him; because he is the anointed of the Lord.
7 Hijeh chun David in a sepaite chu atuhtang nah nah in, Saul chu atha sah tapon ahi. Saul athouvin songko adalha a, alampi’ah akiche phat- in,
So David restrained his servants with these words, and suffered them not to rise against Saul. But Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on his way.
8 David ahung potdoh'in anungjuiyin asamin, “Ka pakai le lengpa!” atileh Saul ahung kihei phat’in ama jabolnan David tol’a abohkhup in chibai aboh in ahi.
David also arose afterward, and went forth out of the cave, and called after Saul, saying, My Lord, the king! And Saul then looked behind him, and David bowed his face to the earth, and prostrated himself.
9 Chule, hitin Saul jah’a asamin, “Ipibolla nangin mipiho thusei na ngaiya, keihin nang chu kasuhgenthei dana nagel ham?
And David said to Saul, Wherefore wilt thou listen to men's words, saying, Behold, David seeketh thy injury?
10 Tuni nikhotah jeng’a jong nangman namit tah in namun ahi, hichu atahbeh ahi. Ajeh chu Pakai in kei khotona noiyah songko sung jenga jong nakoijin ahi. Kamiteho phabep khat in katha ding hitam tia eidohuva, kana noplou ahi. Ipijeh inem itileh, ‘keiman ka lengpa sugenthei louding kahi-amahi Pakai thaonu sa ahi,’
Behold, this day thy eyes have seen how that the Lord had delivered thee today into my hand in the cave, and some one said that I should kill thee: but my soul felt compassion for thee: and I said, I will not stretch forth my hand against my Lord; because he is the anointed of the Lord.
11 Ven kapa, kakhutna ipi kachoi em? na sangkholchol among kachelhah chu bou kachoi ahibouve, nathat pong kate. Nasugenthei pong kate ti vetsahna’a keiman nangma kasuhgenthei lou ding chule nangin thading in nei dal le le jong lechun nachunga kachonset lou ding ahi,” ati.
And now, my father, see, yea, see the corner of thy robe in my hand; for in that I cut off the corner of thy robe, and killed thee not, know thou and see that there is neither evil nor transgression in my hand, and that I have not sinned against thee: yet thou liest in wait for my soul to take it.
12 “Pathen chu eini kaha ahetoh, athutan ahi. Ijemtia kei chunga nabolla ahile Pathen in gotna napeh ding ahi, ahinlah ken vang nang kasuhgenthei lou ding ahi.
May the Lord judge between me and thee, and may the Lord avenge me on thee; but my hand shall not be against thee.
13 Thuchih luiyin khat in, ‘Miphalou hoa konin, thil phalou tohdoh in aume,’ ati. Hijeh chun nang dounan itihchan hijongle kakhut kalap louding ahi.
As saith the proverb of the ancients, From the wicked proceedeth wickedness; but my hand shall not be against thee.
14 Israel lengpa chu koipen nunga hung hija, koipen thunung nahin dal mong mong ham? Uicha thisa khat tou ham, uili khattou nung dal nahim?
After whom is the king of Israel gone out? after whom art thou pursuing? after a dead dog, after a single flea.
15 Hijeh chu Pakai chu thutan in pang henlang, keile nang kikah’ah thutan pa hijing jeng hen,” ati.
May the Lord therefore be judge, and decide between me and thee, and see, and plead my cause, and obtain me justice out of thy hand.
16 Chuin David in aseiding jouse asei jou phatin, Saul in ahin donbut in, “Thu hin sei a chu chapa David mong mong nahi hinam?” atin akap pantan ahi.
And it came to pass, When David had finished speaking these words unto Saul, that Saul said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And Saul lifted up his voice, and wept.
17 Chule David koma aseiyin, “Nang hi kei sangin nadih e, ajeh chu keiman nachunga thilphalou jeng kabollin ahin nangman vang thilpha jeng in nei lethuh jing jenge,” atitai.
And he said to David, Thou art more righteous than I; for thou hast done for me only what is good, whereas I have rewarded thee only with what is evil.
18 “Henge, nangman hepina dihtah in tunin nei ngailun, nei tha theina ding laitah a jong neithat pon ahi.
And thou hast proved this day, that thou hast dealt well with me; forasmuch as when the Lord had surrendered me into thy hand, thou didst not kill me.
19 Hitobang hi mihem khat’in amelma pa ato khah’a ahile, damsella alhadoh mong mong ding hinam? Hijeh chun tunia kei dinga thilpha naboldoh jeh in, Pakaiyin thilpha nabolpeh teitei hen.
For if a man find his enemy, will he let him go away on a good road? so may the Lord reward thee with good for what thou hast done unto me this day.
20 Chule tun keiman kichentah in kahetai, nangma Israelte leng nahung hitei tei ding ahi.
And now, behold, I know that thou wilt surely become king, and that the kingdom of Israel will stand firmly in thy hand.
21 Hijeh chun tunin Pakai minin kahenga kitep’in, ‘Kathi nungle kainsung jong na hinghoiya, kakhanggui le kachilhah jong nei hoi peh teijin!” ati.
And now swear unto me by the Lord, that thou wilt not cut off my seed after me, and that thou wilt not destroy my name out of my father's house.
22 Chuin David jong Saul koma akihahsel in, hichun Saul jong inlam ajon tan; David le asepai chengse akulpiu muna akaltou tauvin ahi.
And David swore unto Saul; and Saul went to his house; but David and his men went up into the strong-hold.
