< 1 Samuel 23 >

1 Nikhat David heng’ah thu ahung lhungin, Philistine miten Keilah kho abulu-uvin, chule changpholla chang jouse jong akichomgam tauve, ahung tiuve.
Then told they David, saying, —Lo! the Philistines are fighting against Keilah, and they are plundering the threshing-floors.
2 David in Pakai koma, “Kagache a kagasat ding ham?” tia adohle, Pakaiyin ahindonbut in, “Henge, chenlang Keilah khopi khu ga huhdoh in,” ati.
So David enquired of Yahweh, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And Yahweh said unto David—Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.
3 Ahinlah David asepaiten ajah’a, “Ven eiho Judah gamsung jenga jong kichatah’a um ihiuvin, i-atileh Keilah khoa icheuva hiche Philistine sepaite khujatpi khutoh ikisatto pi thei diu ham?” atiuve.
But the men of David said unto him, Lo! we, here, in Judah, are afraid, —how much more, then, if we go to Keilah, against the ranks of the Philistines?
4 Hijeh chun David in jong Pakai adongkit in ahile, Pakaiyin ajah’a, “Keilah ah kumsuh un, ajeh chu keiman kapanpia Philistine mite najo dingu ahi,” ati.
So David yet again enquired if Yahweh, and Yahweh answered him, —and said—Arise, go down to Keilah, for I am about to deliver the Philistines into thy hand.
5 Hijeh chun David le asepaite jong Keilah khopi’ah acheuvin, Philistinete agasat’un, mitamtah agathat tauve, chule agancha jouseu ahin kikai’un chule Keilah kho miho jong ahuhdoh un ahi.
David therefore went, with his men, to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and drave forth their cattle, and smote them, with a great smiting, so David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.
6 Ahimelech chapa Abiathar chu Keilah khopia kona ahung jamdoh’a David kom ahin jot chun, Thempuvon ompho khat ahin kipohlut in ahi.
Now it came to pass, when Abiathar, son of Ahimelech, fled unto David to Keilah, that he came down with, an ephod, in his hand.
7 David chu Keilah khoah ahung luttai tithu Saul’in ajah phat in, “Aphalheh jenge! Tuavang hi Pathen in kakhutna apehdoh ahitai, ajeh kulpi kaikhumsa, kulpi kikamkhum sung’a David hi ama amachama hung vahlut ahitai,” ati.
And, when it was told Saul that David had entered Keilah, Saul said—God hath given him over into my hand, for he hath shut himself in by entering into a city with folding doors and bar.
8 Hitah chun Saul in asepaite jouse akhom khom soh keiyin, Keilah khopi chu ahin nokhum’un, David le asepaite chu aumkhum tauvin ahi
So Saul summoned all the people to war, —to go down to Keilah, to besiege David, and his men.
9 Ahinlah David in Saul thilgon jouse chu ahen, Abiathar thempupa jah’ah, “Thempuvon ompho chu hikomah hinchoiyin,” ati.
And David ascertained that, against him, Saul was contriving mischief, —so he said unto Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.
10 Chuin David in, “Vo Pakai Israel Pathen, keima hiche muna kaum jeh hin Saul in Keilah khopia hung’a akhopi hi suhchim ding tohgon aneiyin ahi.
Then said David: O Yahweh, God of Israel, thy servant, hath heard, that Saul is seeking to come unto Keilah, —to destroy the city, for my sake:
11 Hiche kho mite hin keima hi amaho khutna eipehdoh diu ham? Chule Saul hung mong ding hinam? Vo Pakai Israel Pathen, lungsettah in neiseipeh in,” tin ataovin ahi. Chuin Pakaiyin, “Hung ding ahi,” tin adonbut in ahi.
Will the owners of Keilah surrender me into his hand? Will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O Yahweh, God of Israel, I pray thee, tell thy servant. And Yahweh said—He will come down.
12 David’in jong, “Keilah khopia lamkaiho hin, keima le kasepaite hohi Saul khutna eipeh doh dingu ham?” tin adong kit’in ahi. Chule Pakaiyin, “Henge amahon napehdoh dingu ahi,” tin ahin donbut in ahi.
Then said David, Will the owners of Keilah surrender me and my men, into the hand of Saul? And Yahweh said—They will surrender.
13 David le amiteho chu jagup vel alhinphat'un, Keilah mun chu adalhauvin thinglhang lang’ah apotdoh’u le David chu jamdoh tai tithu chu Saul lengpan ajahdoh phat in Keilah khopi lam chu anajon tapoi.
Then arose David and his men, about six hundred, and went forth out of Keilah, and went to and fro, whithersoever they could, —and, unto Saul, it was told that David had escaped out of Keilah, so he forbare to go forth.
14 David vang chu gamthip lah ah munthip khat’ah aumin, Ziph gamthip thinglhang gamlah ah chun apansa dentai.
Then David abode in the wilderness, in the fortresses, and he abode in the hill country, in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him continually, but God delivered him not into his hand.
15 Nikhat chu Horesh kom vella David aum pet in, Saul chun David tha ding hollin Ziph lam ahin jon touve tithu ajantan ahi.
Then David saw that Saul had come out to seek his life, David, being in the wilderness of Ziph, in the thicket.
16 Hichun Jonathan in jong David kimupia Pathen tahsan tah’a dingdet kheh ding in atilkhou ding in ahol in ahi.
So Jonathan, Saul’s son, arose and went unto David in the thicket, —and strengthened his hand in God;
17 tin Jonathan’in, “Kicha hih in, kapan namudoh jouponte! Nangma Israel te leng nahung hi ding ahi, keima kapa banga nang bana kahi ding ahi, hichu kappa Saul in ahet ahi,” tin ana tilkhouvin ahi.
and said unto him, —Do not fear, for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee, but, thou, shalt become king over Israel, and, I, shall be, next, unto thee, yea and, Saul my father, knoweth this.
18 Hijeh chun amanin Pakai masang ah kitepna khat anei lhonin ahi. Chuin Jonathan ain lamah akilen, David vang chu Horesh mun ah aumdentai.
And they two solemnised a covenant before Yahweh, —and David remained in the thicket, but, Jonathan, departed to his own house.
19 Chujouvin Ziph miho chu Gibeah muna Saul hengah acheuvin, David chu apedoh tauvin ahi. “Keihon kiselna mun kaheuve, Ama tuhin Jeshimon lhanglam’a um Hakilah thinglhang gam sung, Horesh kulpi dunga keiho lah’a David kisel ahi,” atiuvin ahi.
Then came up the Ziphites unto Saul in Gibeah, saying, —Is not David hiding himself with us, in the strongholds in the thicket, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the right of Jeshimon?
20 “Vo lengpa naki got chaiya nakigin phat phat’a nahung konsuh’a ahile keihon jong jaonan napanpi ving ting, David chu nangma khut’a pedoh nauvinge,” aga tiuvin ahi.
Now, therefore, according to all the desire of thy soul O king, to come down, come! and, ours, [will it be] to surrender him into the hand of the king.
21 Hichun Saul in jong, “Pakaiyin phatthei naboh’u hen, ajeh chu nanghon hibangtah’a keima ding neihin gel khohpeh uve.
Then said Saul, Blessed, be ye, of Yahweh, —because ye have taken pity upon me.
22 Cheloiyunlang, phatechan gaphochen un, aumna mun, age namun, gahechen set uvin unlang gavechil chet tauvin, ajeh chu, amahi mi kilep themtah ahi.
Go, I pray you, make ready yet further, and get to know and see his place, where may be his track, who hath seen him there, —for it hath been said unto me, Cunning indeed, is, he!
23 Hijeh chun akisel namun hoilai ham ti, gavechilsoh keijuvin ima jouse he sohkei uvin lang, kahenga hungkit uvin, chutengle keijong, nangho toh kilhona icheuva agamsunga David aumpou pouva ahileh kahol doh teitei ding ahi,” ati.
See, then, and get to know—of all the hiding places, where he hideth himself, and return unto me, for certainty, then will I go with you, —and it shall be, if he is in the land, that I will search him out, through all the thousands of Judah.
24 Hijeh chun amaho jong akipatdoh uvin Ziph gamlanga chun Saul sang in anache masa tauve. David le asepaite chu hiche pet’a hi Jeshimon lhang lama Arabah gamsung Ma’on gammang noiya kisel’ah ahiuve.
So they arose and departed to Ziph, before Saul, —but, David and his men, were in the wilderness of Maon, in the Arabah, to the right of Jeshimon.
25 Saul le amiten aholle leuve ti David in ajahdoh phat in, gamthip sunglam agamla jep songpi lentah khat sungah alutin, Maon gamthip ah aumtan ahi. Ahinlah Saul chun ana hol jing in ahi.
Then Saul and his men departed, to seek [him]; but it had been told David, and he had gone down the cliff, and taken up his abode in the wilderness of Maon, —and when Saul had, heard it, he pursued David in the wilderness of Maon.
26 Chuin Saul le amite molpang langkhat ah achen, hibangma chun David le aloiho jong molpang lang khat ah acheuvin, chuin Saul le aloiho chun, David le amite chu nailutna matdin aumkul tauvin ahi.
And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and, David and his men, on that side of the mountain, —wherefore David became hurried, to get away from the presence of Saul, but, Saul and his men, were surrounding David and his men, to capture then:
27 Ahin Saul heng ah thusoh kin khat ahung lhungin, ajah ah, “Gangtah’in hungin jeh chu Philistine ten gamsung gal hin boltauve,” tin ahung seijun ahi.
when, a messenger, came unto Saul, saying, —Haste thee and come! for the Philistines have spread over the land.
28 Hijeh chun David nung adella konin Saul akinunglen, Philistine te satdin achetai. Hijeh chun hiche mun chu Sela-hammahlekoth asah tauvin ahi.
Then returned Saul from pursuing David, and departed to meet the Philistines, —for which cause, they called that place Sela-hammahlekoth ["the Cliff of Separation"].
29 Chuin David chua kon chun achetouvin Engedi mun dettah sunga achengtai.
And David went up from thence, —and abode in the strongholds of En-gedi.
