Dear children, I write thus to you in order that you may not sin. If any one sins, we have an Advocate with the Father--Jesus Christ the righteous;
2 Amatah hi ichonset nauva kona lhatdohna dinga hung kikatdoh a ahitai–chule eiho chonset jengseh hilouvin vannoi mite chonset jaljeh jong ahi.
and He is an atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 Chule eihon Athupeh ho ijuiyuva ahileh Ama chu iheuve tia iseitheiyu ahi.
And by this we may know that we know Him--if we obey His commands.
4 Koiham khattouvin, Keiman Pathen kahei tihen Pathen Thupeh ho jui hih henlang hitaleh, amatah chu mijou ahin, chule thutah'a chu hinglouva ahi.
He who professes to know Him, and yet does not obey His commands, is a liar, and the truth has no place in his heart.
5 Hinlah Pathen Thu jui'a chu Ama ngailutna ivetsah tahbeh u ahi. Hichea hin Amaa hinga ihiuve ti ihetnau ahi.
But whoever obeys His Message, in him love for God has in very deed reached perfection. By this we can know that we are in Him.
6 Koihileh Pathena kahinge tiho chun Yeshua banga abol diu ahi.
The man who professes to be continuing in Him is himself also bound to live as He lived.
7 Deitahte, keiman nangho henga thupeh thah kajih ahipoi; atil abula naneisau thupehlui chu kahin jih joh ahi. Hiche thupehlui chu–khat le khat kingailut ding masanga najahsau chu ahi.
My dearly-loved friends, it is no new command that I am now giving you, but an old command which you have had from the very beginning. By the old command I mean the teaching which you have already received.
8 Hiche thupeh hi athah jong ahi. Yeshua chu hiche thupeh a chon'ah ahin chule nangho jong hichea hi nachon diu ahi. Ajeh chu muthim hi hungmang ding chule vah tahbeh chu hungvah doh a ahitai.
And yet I am giving you a new command, for such it really is, so far as both He and you are concerned: because the darkness is now passing away and the light, the true light, is already beginning to shine.
9 Koiham khattouvin, “Keima Vah'a kavahlei,” tihen hinlah Christian asopi khat chu hotboltaleh, hichepa chu muthim lah a umnalai ahi.
Any one who professes to be in the light and yet hates his brother man is still in darkness.
10 Koipen hijongleh sopi midang khat angailut'a ahileh vah'a chu chon'ah ahin, chule koima kipal lhuh sahlou ahije.
He who loves his brother man continues in the light, and his life puts no stumbling-block in the way of others.
11 Hinlah sopi michom dang khat hot bola chu muthimlah a uma chule vahlea ahi. Hitobang mi chun achena ding lampi ahepon, muthim chun amit chotsah ahi.
But he who hates his brother man is in darkness and is walking in darkness; and he does not know where he is going--because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
12 Pathen chate ho dinga kajih ahi, ajeh chu Yeshua jal'a nachonset u ngaidam nahi tauve.
I am writing to you, dear children, because for His sake your sins are forgiven you.
13 Tahsan naa pilhing ho henga kahinjih ahi, ajeh chu atil abula pat'a anaumsa Christa chu nanghon naheuve. Tahsana khangdong nangho henga kahinjih ahi, ajeh chu nanghon agiloupa chu nakidou piuva najou ahitai.
I am writing to you, fathers, because you know Him who has existed from the very beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the Evil one. I have written to you, children, because you know the Father.
14 Nangho Pathen Chate ho henga kahinjih ahi, ajeh chu nanghon Pachu naheuve. Tahsan'a pilhing nangho henga kajih ahi, ajeh chu nanghon Christa chu naheuvin, Ama chu atil abula anaum jingsa ahi. Tahsanna khang dong nangho henga kahin jih ahi, ajeh chu nangho nahat uvin chule Pathen Thu nalung sunguva achenge, chule agilouto nakidouvu chu najou tauve.
I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who has existed from the very beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong and God's Message still has a place in your hearts, and you have overcome the Evil one.
15 Hiche vannoi hi ngailu hih un ahilouleh vannoiyin napeh u jong ngailu hih un, ajeh chu nanghon vannoi nangailut tenguleh, nanghon Pa ngailutna chu nanei lou u ahi.
Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If any one loves the world, there is no love in his heart for the Father.
16 Ajeh chu vannoiyin tahsalam lung ngaichat ho, mitmua deichatthei ho, chule ithilbol doh hou chule ineihouva kiletsah pina apehthei ahi. Hitihohi Pa a kon ahipoi, ahin hiche vannoiya kon joh ahi.
For the things in the world--the cravings of the earthly nature, the cravings of the eyes, the show and pride of life--they all come, not from the Father, but from the world.
17 Chule hiche vannoi le miho lung ngaichatna ho jong akem tul tule. Hinlah Pathen lunglambol ho chu tonsot'a umjing ding ahiuve. (aiōn g165)
And the world, with its cravings, is passing away, but he who does God's will continues for ever. (aiōn g165)
18 Cha ngaitahteho, phat nunung chu ahitai. Christa doupa ahunge ti naja tauve. Chule Christa dou tampi ahung kilangtai. Hichea kon hin phat kichai kon ahunghitai ti naheuve.
Dear children, the last hour has come; and as you once heard that there was to be an anti-Christ, so even now many anti-Christs have appeared. By this we may know that the last hour has come.
19 Hiche miho hin i-houbung hou adalhauve, hinlah amaho eihoto houbunga ium khom tahbeh khapouve, chuti lou hileh eiho toh umkhom diu ahitai. Adalhah u chun, amaho hi eihoa ahipouve ti aphotchen ahi.
They have gone forth from our midst, but they did not really belong to us; for had they belonged to us, they would have remained with us. But they left us that it might be manifest that professed believers do not all belong to us.
20 Hinlah nangho hitobang chun naumpouve, ajeh chu Lhagao Theng nachung uvah ahung tan chule nangho jousen thutah chu nahesoh keiyuve.
As for you, you have an anointing from the holy One and have perfect knowledge.
21 Hichea keiman nangho koma kajih hi thutah nahe pouve tia kasei ahipon, ahin nanghon thutahle jouthu akibahlouna naheuve.
I have written to you, not because you are ignorant of the truth, but because you know it, and you know that nothing false comes from the truth.
22 Chule koiham jouseipa chu? Koi hileh Yeshua chu Christa ahipoi ti chan chu Christa dou ahi.
Who is a liar compared with him who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He who disowns the Father and the Son is the anti-Christ.
23 Koi hileh Chapa seilep chan chun Pa aneilou ahi. Hinlah Chapa phongdoh chan chun Pachu anei ahitai.
No one who disowns the Son has the Father. He who acknowledges the Son has also the Father.
24 Hitiahi, atil abula pat'a nakihiluva chu tahsan umtah'a napandet dingu ahi. Hichu nabol ahileh, nangma Pa le Chapa toh kiloikhoma nahi ding ahi.
As for you, let the teaching which you have received from the very beginning continue in your hearts. If that teaching does continue in your hearts, you also will continue to be in union with the Son and with the Father.
And this is the promise which He Himself has given us--the Life of the Ages. (aiōnios g166)
26 Keiman hicheng thil ho kajih hi nangho napui lamvai dinghou chung chang thua nangho kagih nahiuve.
I have thus written to you concerning those who are leading you astray.
27 Hinlah nanghon Lhagao Theng naneiyuve chule Ama nangho sunga achenge chule ipi chu thutah ham tithua koiman nahil dingu ngaikhoh ahitapoi. Ajeh chu Lhagao chun imalam jousea nahil dingu ahi, chule Aman ahil chu thutah ahi, Ama ah jou apangpoi. Hiti chun aman nahilsau bang chun, Christa to kiloikhomna nei jingun.
And as for you, the anointing which you received from Him remains within you, and there is no need for any one to teach you. But since His anointing gives you instruction in all things--and is true and is no falsehood--you are continuing in union with Him even as it has taught you to do.
28 Chule tun, cha deitahte, Christa toh kiloikhomna neijingun, ajeh chu Ama ahung kilah tengleh nanghon lung ngamna bulhingset nanei dingu chule jahcha a chon talou ding nahiuve.
And now, dear children, continue in union with Him; so that, if He re-appears, we may have perfect confidence, and may not shrink away in shame from His presence at His Coming.
29 Eihon Christa chu chonpha ahi ti ihettah jeh uvin, koi hijongleh adih bola chu Pathen cha ahiuve tijong iheuve.
Since you know that He is righteous, be assured also that the man who habitually acts righteously is a child of His.
